SURPRISE!!!!

I LOVE SURPRISES!  The party kind, or the gift kind.  Other kinds can just keep to themselves.  Unfortunately for me, that wasn't the case yesterday.  There I was, minding my own business while making tacos for fifteen, when a guy comes by and lays something on my steps.

Oh he says .. I'm just leaving my business card in case you want to get your cracked windshield fixed.  What was my response?  My window's not cracked!!  That's when I heard the worst words in months.  Yes ma'am it is.  WHAT THE HECK?  NO WAY!!

I went outside so he could show me.  Well Heavens to Betsy ... yup that's a crack.  How did I get that?  I do not remember getting hit with anything.  He showed me where the rock landed.  I wondered if maybe that was a bullet from New Year's eve.
I went inside and raised the screen because I STILL didn't believe him.  Sure enough, there's a crack about twelve inches long.  The good news is he ordered the glass to be shipped immediately and lucky for me, I have NO DEDUCTIBLE on my insurance.  Progressive is paying for that huge increase in cost they gave me last year.  It will be replaced before I leave.  PLEASE, NO MORE SURPRISES!
I do seem to look rather surprised here, mostly because someone jumped up and volunteered to be Vice President.  Hallelujah!!   We don't have to hide the fact that our last nominee didn't own a motorhome.  It was a quick meeting, at which I was formally voted in as President.  Big sigh!!
Not to celebrate, but more to calm my now frazzled nerves, the club had margaritas to go with taco night.  That's the bartender John Painter, below.  His lovely wife Patti is now Vice President.
I heated up the chicken, tacoed it up with some spices and reheated the trip-tip.  Super simple.  Then we all chowed down until the bar was dry, both the margarita AND the taco.  Too bad there was a freezing breeze, forcing everyone into their heavy jackets.  Isn't this Indio?  Home of sun?
Before the day ended, I wandered off to Costco to pay for the ice cream bars.  It's always good to take care of it the day before so there's no waiting.  The sad news is only 650 rigs showed up so far (versus 875 last year), meaning we almost have enough for TWO each!  I see lots of leftover ice cream in my future.
The magic moon has come out every night, even before the sun has set.  That's probably why I have a broken windshield.  It's a full moon.  I'm not looking forward to my insurance company raising my rates next year.  That's TWO windshields in ten months.   SURPRISE!!

  1. Oh dear, THAT is NOT a nice surprise. Sorry to hear that. I'm so fearful of our drives now after replacing a windshield this past summer. $500 deductible. I think we'll look into an added clause on our policy like our b-i-l has.
That is a lot of rigs, wow! The margarita looks wonderful and oh, CONGRATULATIONS Madame President!

    1. Why thank you! I'm not sure I'm going to be a good President since I have no experience, but I'll give it a shot! I'm hopeful the windshield will get replaced today.

    1. That's one of the reasons I come to this rally. Easy access to repairs.

  5. Now that you are the president, will some one else be picking up all the cooking and cleaning up? Your workload is exhausting just to read about.

    1. Most likely I will continue to do most of the work for this rally. It has always been the President and I. I do however plan on delegating much of the work!

  7. Some surprises we can do without! The margaritas looked good and I'm sure the ice cream will find a home if necessary. It's a good thing folks have heavy jackets with them in sunny warm Indio.
