UH OH .... Bad News!

UPDATE:  Good news:  Rig is dry except for a couple of drops.  It IS plugged in (YAY) and is on enough of a slant that water is not streaming in.  I put the pans in place anyway.

I'm completely defeated.  Exhausted!  Not one spec of energy left.  I just want to run away and hide.  I knew the porch was iffy ... the plywood spongy in one area.  The crew is supposed to cover this with half size pavers.  They rang the doorbell at around 1:30 with terrible news.
This outside beam is rotten all the way through.  It will have to be replaced because it's basically a structural issue.  Not that it will ever get wet again and become worse, because I put a patio cover over the entire length of this side of the house.

Needless to say, they cannot put pavers on this.  I'm crushed.  Who do I call?  Mr. Dan of course, who came over in a flash.  He says the same thing happened to his house and it's fixable.  I just have to FIND someone who knows how.  The entire project came to a screeching halt.  On Monday the paver company owner will come by to see what he thinks.  They said they have dealt with this before, so hopefully we can come up with something.  I just see $$$$$$$.
To make it even MORE fun, Carlos from LaMesa RV called to say they had done nothing with my rig.  No repairs of any kind.  Hopefully he said, they will start on it Monday.

Carlos called me AGAIN around 4:30 to say it was plugged in.  My "friend" (who of course is Dan) stopped by and asked he take care of that.  I thanked him profusely.  It's parked down by a blue tarp (who knows where that is) if I needed anything from the rig.

I was feeling so beat up, I went to bed early, only to wake up with a start at 11:00.  The rig is parked outside and it's RAINING.  There's going to be 4-5 cups of water on that bedroom carpet because I put the pans away, assuming (silly me) that it would be fixed.

So now I'm in a panic to get BACK to LaMesa this morning and get those pans in place before it gets any worse.  I'm totally crushed and defeated.  The last thing in the world I wanted to do was deal with stuff like this.

I'll be the blubbering mess of a human in the corner on the couch.

  1. I just HATE places that make an appointment, then sit on it and do nothing for days and weeks. It is time to tell them as bout your trip which is suppose to start next weekend, and how you need it by Wednesday to get ready to leave Friday...

    1. I think you are right Dave. It will be exactly seven days before they fix anything, IF they work on it Monday.

  2. Once the rotted beam is replaced it will all be good.
As for the RV if your seals are leaking the dealership should have covered it until they get it repaired.
Hopefully all will be good soon.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  3. Some of your delicious cheesecake is needed to help you feel better. :) Seriously, I have to agree with Dave, I hate places that do that too! Why make an appointment?! You'd think the paver company would have someone they use for issues like this, as I'm sure it's common. Good luck!

  4. Oh Nancy, we are so sorry! It just seems like one thing after another, screwing you over. You are strong, my friend, hang in there and fight back! I don't blame you for wanting to see about the pans but hopefully they have enough brain matter to cover your rv. :( Thinking of you, wish I was closer for a hug.

  5. Oh wow. Sometimes life does get to be too much. I think it was Shirley that said if a rotten beam is common then they probably know someone that can fix it for you. And make sure that slice of cheesecake is a big one.

  6. On the bright side, the rig doesn't have water running out the door, it's plugged in, the house is still standing, the pavers aren't down and so won't have to be taken back up to fix the beam. The beam can be fixed, and life will go on. Smile Ma'am, this too shall pass.

  7. Technically it's a simple fix start by tearing the whole 4x5 porch apart right down to the house headers/sill That way you'll know you don't have Wood rot
In the main part of the house mobile home manufacturers are not known to use pressure treated lumber Any wood you use needs to be pressure treated
You'll notice the 1x3 molding that goes on the inside of the porch there's no flashing that's the reason why you got Woodrow and been there for years
    Not your fault
Make it a Standard type porch but without the tiling
That way any water will go to the ground not to the Wood and trap moisture
You can use composition decking instead of real wood it'll still look good And last longer

    1. Hmmm that's an idea Ed. Although there won't be any more water because I had the entire front of the house covered with awnings. I do like the idea of composition decking!!

  8. I'm so sorry to read this. Either problem is enough to push a person over the edge, having two at the same time is not good.
