Back To Square One!!

This hasn't been my best week.  In fact, it appears I'm back to square one, or maybe one and a half.  You are probably getting tired of seeing paver pictures and so am I.  The front walkway is now done except for the steps and porch.
The back patio which I absolutely LOVE is also done except for the spray sealer.  Who knew there was so much work involved with this.  Once they leveled it, tamped down the gravel and placed the pavers, they swept sand over the top, cut off the edges and cemented the side pieces in.  Then they cemented the outside edges.  WAY too much work for this girl.  If I could afford it, I'd have them do all around the entire house!!
Square one is where I needed a contractor to fix the rotten wood.  Mr Contractor has told me three times now that he would show up, but alas, he has not.  I can feel that bit of panic I inherited from my mother, creeping in like a tsunami!!

I fear I will never see the paver guys again once they leave, and my porch will never be finished, let alone made whole.  I've called around and finally have two more names to get in touch with today.  Do you know anyone who's good with building that wants a free parking spot and a wad of cash??

In the meantime, here's the latest quilt.  The colors are much more muted than shown here.  It's one of those things where you think it's lovely until you get it together and on the wall.  I definitely like the pattern, but the colors .... not so much.
So today I head out at 11:00 to pick up my rig at La Mesa.  They replaced the top seal on the slide, as well as the slide topper, both of which were full of holes.  Rain is expected on Tuesday ... a test I think.  Since they never could see any change in the jacks, they did nothing in that area.  I suppose it's a good thing they didn't replace something that they think does not need to be replaced.

For the next couple of days she will be parked at the Chance house since the paver's trailer is taking up her spot.  I can't tell you how happy I will be when all of this is over and I can go back to being a bump on a log!!

  1. They sure did a beautiful job on the patio and walkway! Love, love it! Too bad about Mr. Contractor, sure makes you wonder how he stays in business. Hopefully one of the two numbers you have respond better. You are certainly a quick quilter! :)

    1. It's easy to sew a quilt when you have nothing else to do all day! LOL

  3. Whoa! Everything looks wonderful! I can't believe that the contractor would give away work so easily. Obviously, he has to know you're going to look elsewhere. Not many businesses I know would be so foolhardy.

    1. I'm thinking there is a shortage of contractors around here. I do have to play nice because he's a biggie ... building an entire huge store in Green Valley.

  4. Beautiful job on the Patio and Walkway.
Contractors tend to go for the larger jobs forgetting the type of work that got them in business to start with. Maybe just call him back.
Like the pattern on the quilt.
Be Safe and Enjoy testing the RV for leaks.

    It's about time.

  5. I know how you feel Nancy. You're getting close. Find another porch builder and drop that guy. Life's too short to worry about porches. Won't be long now and you'll be on Easy Street again.
