HE'S B A A A A C K K K K K

Yessirree ... the DAMN SKUNK IS BACK!!  Sorry for the bad language, but I'm so MAD!!!   I haven't seen them for almost a month in spite of my flashlight vigilance every morning.  This is not a picture of the one that haunts me.  He's huge and almost completely black.  When I hit him with the flashlight (wish that wasn't metaphorical), I saw no white on him whatsoever!  Oh yes, it's a skunk alright.

Obviously the skunk trap is not working.  I can't tell you how frustrated I am!!  I'm not sure what is worse ... skunks or scorpions and snakes.

To add to my already frayed nature, I discovered quite by accident that the time changed.  Did you know that in California in 2018 the people voted to do away with this nonsense?  The government of course completely ignored our wishes, like they always do.  In response, I ignore them.  I leave all my clocks set on Arizona time, where they are smart enough NOT to fiddle with the hands on the clock.

I spent a good portion of the day on the couch with the puppies.  It had it moments when they weren't fighting over who got to be the closest.  The older they get, the worse they are.

So I'm off once again to the Patch for cleanup day, then hopefully I'll be able to pick up my mail.  It's my ballot I'm looking for, but I suspect it won't be there.  After all, it's the Post Office who HAD it at one point, but that doesn't mean it will be in my box.  They are notorious for losing mail.

Here's one last look at Halloween.  I just KNOW there's a skunk hidden in there ... they are the devil in disguise!!

Today I will also try to find their hole and make the trap more interesting with every kind of food I can find for them.  The alternative is an expensive concrete pour at the base of the fence.  Why me?????

Final total walking at the Patch (not including cleanup):  222.96  Hard to believe I walked that far.

  1. And WHY did it have to come back on the FIRST morning you were able to rest? Have you asked the Farmer at the Patch how he gets rid of them? (bet it has 12 gauge in his answer)

    1. I did ask him and yes, he has a shotgun! LOL But they rarely run into them since they aren't out at 4:00 in the morning.

  2. Most times Nuisance Skunks are drowned to avoid the smell after using the 12 Gauge.
The plant I spent 27 years in hired exterminators to get rid of the Skunks around our plant. The first guy drove around the corner and released them guarantying him more business. The second one dropped them off a mile away. More repeat business. The last company took care of business the way it needed to be.
Good luck on your clean up.
    Lots of walking.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    1. Oh my goodness. If I could only catch it, I'd take it far far away.

    1. They aren't dumb ... I rather doubt the trap will work. I can't seem to find their way in.

  4. It's really interesting that CALIFORNIA passed Prop 7 in 2018 ending daylight savings time. However it ended the changing of the clocks leaving California on permanent daylight savings time. The law then required the state legislature to approve it and additionally Congress would have to pass a law to approve it by December 2020. I doubt that will happen. Ironically the federal law allows states to stay on standard time permanently, but does not allow states to stay on daylight savings time permanently.

    1. I just wish it would stop. It messes me up, so I try to stay on just one time and not change. I agree, I doubt they will pass it. Too bad ... it would probably help a lot of grumpy people! LOL
