A Surprise Delivery

I woke up this morning to someone snuggling in my ear.  My first thought was Prince Charming, but that didn't last long.  I don't remember a wet nose in the past, not to mention anyone licking my cheek or turning circles on the bed.  IT'S NOT TIME got me nowhere!!  When the wiggle butt starts, you can't shut it down.  It's UP time as we headed for the back door.

California tulle fog has arrived, making it difficult to see through the soup, but fascinating to see the water droplets dancing in the beam of a flashlight.  It's WAY too early to be up after a late night at the Elks Lodge.

I tried to catch a catnap or two, but it wasn't to be on this day.  I finished up this quilt top, adding a shot of color.  The same yellow will be the backing, so put on your dark glasses before viewing it in person.

I hung around inside for some time before testing the waters outside.  Even after the sun came up, a coat was required.  Crawling around on the cold concrete didn't help.  The Levi material of the past has disappeared, replaced by something closer to a single layer of loosely woven cheap thread.  You might as well wear shorts.

I got the two valves on with no problem, and opened them to be sure they worked.  They are pretty hard to turn, but I suppose that's the idea.  I did however just notice the two bands holding the entire thing on the hoses.  I guess I better check that those are also tight.

Just a note ... the reason the RV guy picked these is because the threads on the valves are the correct size for the female plug.  If it doesn't work, I'll be losing water all the way to Arizona, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Having received my two orders for the day from Amazon ... one being sunflower seeds for Jonathan, cheaper than I can buy the exact same stuff in the pet store ... I was surprised to hear Cooper barking yet again.

I was torn between OH MY ... did SANTA bring me something?  and Uh oh ... what did you buy Nancy?  And you completely forgot you bought it??  I did a double take when I saw a family sized can of Nesquik Strawwwwwwwberry!  Anyone remember THAT commercial?

Hmmmmm this is a "man's" order if I ever saw one.  Men's deodorant, Crest, a huge box of Irish Spring and Nesquik.  I began to wonder if my neighbor's ex husband was now living in MY attic.  I called Walmart, but they were not the least bit helpful.  If they had given me the address, I would have delivered it myself.

Instead, they told me they would NOTE that the delivery was not made and it would be rescheduled.  I think that means I now have two containers of men's deodorant to get rid of, not to mention copious amounts of some weird hair conditioner from Jamaica.  I'll take it all to the Lodge and see if I can find some unsuspecting MAN to give it to.

At long last, about the time I should be heading for bed, I got all gussied up in my tuxedo.  I was sleepy before I even left the house.  I skipped the dinner part this time, although I should NOT have.  They had prime rib and some fabulous rice pilaf instead of steak and potatoes.  Big sigh!

Here I am upstairs, waiting for the party to begin so I wouldn't raid the kitchen.  It was a long initiation meeting as I prayed I didn't fall asleep.  You get fined for that sort of thing!

At long last it was over as I raced to my truck.  My poor friend with a bad foot who always gets a ride home so her husband doesn't have to come out late at night, hobbled as fast as she could.  In no time I was back on the couch with the cold nose, waiting for my electric blanket to heat up.

There's one thing about puppies ... they are always SO happy to see you when you walk in the door.  It makes me smile every time, even if he does have a cold nose.

I have errands to run today, but I think I'll put them off.  It's froggy outside ... that's foggy for those not familiar with the term.  Tomorrow morning for Wreaths Across America, I meet at the Lodge to pick up one of the Knights from Bingo, along with 16 wreaths to be placed at the National Cemetery.  We lay them on gravesites of veterans from our Elks Lodge.  We have over 300 to distribute this year.  It takes a village.  I'm really hoping it's not too froggy since I'll be driving.

I'm gathering up gear as I type ... long johns, ski boot socks, wool lined after ski boots, ski gloves and anything else I can put on to keep warm.  It's going to be a cold wet one ... and the blog will be late.  I have to leave WAY too early in the morning.

If you have some free time, volunteer for Wreaths Across America.  They can always use the help.

  1. I have heard others say that Walmart delivered stuff to their home that was meant for someone else, and Walmart says "just keep it, we will resend..." So here I am hoping for a bad Walmart delivery of a TV, a couple of Laptops, and most importantly, a stack of USDA Choice Ribeyes! lol

    1. I wonder if it comes out of the driver's paycheck.

  2. A surprise indeed. It is kind of interesting to get a peek into someone else's lives like that. What an odd order. We have never lived anywhere that offers delivery like that so we will more than likely never experience such a gift.

  3. Thanks for the mention of "tule" fog. I am still digesting the article on it on Wikipedia.

"fascinating to see the water droplets dancing in the beam of a flashlight". I would like to see that in person. Until then any chance you could photograph it, if you play around with the camera settings a bit?

    1. I certainly could do that ... but it has to be dark outside. Maybe tomorrow morning.

  4. You should take the original plugs with you for the RV just in case these new ones don't work for you. Also an old piece of carpet does wonders for getting down on the cold cement. You can even use it outside the door of the RV for shoes.
What an interesting order! I do remember the Nesquick Strawberry. I guess it's easier to just redo the order than to risk someone having tampered with it and the rightful consumer suing them.
Don't forget a hat, even a thermos of coffee would be good.

  5. I believe that once items have been shipped to a wrong address or are returned for whatever reason they cannot go back onto the shelf and end up at the discount stores. Food and personal hygiene items would perhaps be destroyed. Hats up to you for going to place the wreaths tomorrow.

    1. Seems like they would lose a lot of money that way. Thank you ... I love putting those wreaths out.

  6. I remember the Strawberry Nesquick too but it wasn't my choice next to chocolate! Are you kidding? haha The toothpaste would be a bonus for sure!
I'll say it again, Nancy, you are a good person with your volunteering. Stay warm!
