Lightning Strikes Me!!!!

You know all those rotten phone calls you get trying to sell you medicare supplemental insurance, or car insurance, or house insurance or any other sales call??  They frustrate me beyond words.

On Wednesday it was so bad I had to put my phone on silent at work because it was going off constantly.  You never can block them because they use phony numbers ... many times local phone numbers.

They began again at 6:30 yesterday morning.  I was mad ... MAD at being bothered SO many times!! Can you feel my frustration?  By the time I got to the Pumpkin Patch, I was fuming.  I should have just taken a chill pill ... or a bottle of wine.

So there I was, pulling in to the parking lot and my phone rang again before I even got it in park.  This time I listened and hit the number 1 to talk to a "representative".  The second he answered, I lit into him with both feet.  I was sick and tired of getting phone calls and I wanted them to STOP!!!  I admit, I said some very bad words and hung up on him.  TAKE THAT!!!!!

The Pastor and his wife pulled up next to me.  She works the office during the week.  I jumped out and slammed the door.  I got about ten feet before that lightning bolt struck me.  You know what happened.  My keys were in the ignition.
Now madder than before, if that is even possible, I told the Pastor that "someone" just sent me a message.  They laughed.  I cried, because now I have to find a way to get in my truck.

I called AAA, trying to remain calm.  I got the vacation services line.  I'd love to go on vacation, but my keys are locked in my truck.  No problem she said as she began the twenty questions game.  Uhmmmmm I'm at work, could you just send someone please?

She transferred me to the Road Service line as I bit my tongue.  Your name?  Your address?  Your phone number?  Are you safe?  Are you alone?  Where are you?  I'm at Buhach and S P Avenue.  Can you spell that please?  S P!!  Can you spell that please?  S P (even louder).  I'm on S P Avenue.  It didn't compute.

When she again asked if I was safe or if I had medicine in my truck I needed, I said yes to both.  I'm about to have a heart attack if you ask me one more question and my medicine is in the truck!!  "Oh how fun, you work at a pumpkin patch".  PLEASE JUST SEND A TRUCK!!!!

The guy showed up in about ten minutes and unlocked the door.  He was a nice guy.  I figured I would need to answer 20 more questions, but he only asked for my signature.

The next time I hit number 1 and talk to a salesman, I won't cuss at him, but GUARANTEED I'm going to hang up on him!!!  I'm on the National Do Not Call List and I STILL get at least eight calls a day.  Will they ever stop????

  2. Don't feel too bad I get about five or six a day I just hit the answer button and put the phone down My only problem is my dispatcher gets mad at me when I do that
They make a little magnetic key box to put your car key in
You stick it up on the frame (Spot of your choice ) it works great for me my.
My dog wants to drive and I won't let him so he gets mad and locks me out of the truck

    1. I've heard of those key boxes. I'm getting old enough I could probably use one! Your dog locks you out? That's funny!

  3. I haven't used it but I'm about to try it they have a whole bunch of apps you can download to your phone that are supposed to stop 99% of robot calls
This particular app had a five star so it must be good the best part I think it's free
    https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/robokiller-stop-spam-calls/id1022831885?mt=8

For anyone that has a house phone they make an attachment that picks up on the very first ring to a recording which foils the Robo call and then transfer The real call to your phone
most average Computer Robot calls will hang up on the third ring
If it's not an area code that I recognize I don't answer it but they're getting smarter and using your local area code to trick you

    1. They HAVE been using my local area code and even the same prefix as mine. Irritating. I'm going to try the spam app.

  4. Those do not call lists are for a limited time only. Then after renewing it takes a month to kick in. Once you tell a person that is calling you they have a One Month before it happens but most just hang up and call you the next day.
Take a deep breath so Lightning doesn't strike twice.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  5. Do you have call forwarding?
Send them to the police offices or a library.

  6. Just let ALL calls go to voicemail. The sales and spam usually don't leave a message so you only have to listen to the first 3 words before you hit 7 to delete. Also install the app, MrNumber. That filters many. Also attach you truck key to the elastic key leash and the other end to your belt loops. Just my advice for today. 😃

    1. I'll try MrNumber. I'll try anything to get them to stop. I have a key leash, I just never use it. Time to dig it out!

  7. I don’t answer my cell phone unless the number identifies who’s calling...says it’s our daughter, son-in-law, or doctor’s office calling. Other calls can go to voicemail...but they usually hang up without leaving a message. I’ve about decided that when you add your phone numbers to the Do Not Call List, it just lets the lowlifes know that is an active number and to call away. Biggest mistake I ever made putting those numbers on that stupid list...I know how the Federal Government screws up things...my own damn fault {sigh}.

    1. That's probably what has happened to me. It's so irritating to deal with, especially when the number looks like a local one.

  8. I actually enjoy talking to them. Figure if I am conversing with them, then less time for them to bother other people. I listen and tell them how amazing their offer is. What have I being doing all my life without their product? What a coincidence you called, I was just going to sit down at the computer and do a search for that. Ask them multiple times to repeat things. Ask a few dumb questions. Start talking to them about some totally irrelevant thing. If I feel its going nowhere will ask them to hold on as there is somebody at my door and put the phone down. You will be amazed at how many of them actually start swearing at you and then hang up. Life is good when your retired.

  9. Calls like that are so irritating. We don't get too many any more and that is just fine with us. Sorry for the trouble with the locked car..........funny the Pastor showing up like that. A message? haha
