Another Exciting Day In QuarantineLand

Oh my goodness ... if I have to sit on my butt for one more day I'm going to scream.  Mostly because my butt and back hurt so bad from sitting.  Just to try and help the situation, I took Cooper outside for a walk.  Not much of a walk really, since every two feet he has to mark his territory.  Lots of dogs roam loose in my neighborhood causing havoc when Jessie and Cooper see them out the window.

I finished up this little Civil War quilt just in time to begin anew on the "Duck" quilt.  In other exciting "quilt" news, I called my only local store, willing to beg to be let in for fabric purchase.  I've three huge quilts with NO backing.

It's a funny thing about this quarantine ... everyone is just trying NOT to lose their business.  Many people here do not have money nor food to feed their children.  They were thrilled I wanted to come by for something like 20 yards of fabric.  I'll be meeting up with them very soon.
Probably the most exciting time of the day, I drove all the way to the Post Office with my little yellow overflow card.  No one was wearing masks, but we all kept our distance.  In spite of the plastic hanging down, everyone touched everything, including the counter, the credit card machine and the plastic.  I mean really, can you just imagine how many people touched every piece of mail you get?  I wonder if people are remembering to sanitize the envelopes?

Anyway, I received this surprise ... a big box from FMCA.  It pays to be President!!  Not really, although it said I could keep these things for myself, I will be giving them away to new members, if we ever HAVE new members again.  There's two very nice mugs, a blue blanket that folds up into a package, two name tag holders (very nice ones) and a zipper bag.  Actually, the bag may work out nicely for carrying chocolate sauce to the ice cream social.  Just more stuff to carry in my rig.
At this point, I have more weight from FMCA rally stuff in the rig than I do MY stuff.

My next problem reared it's ugly head again ... insurance.  Of COURSE because I added the Jeep to the motorhome policy, my pickup truck is now fighting for survival all alone with Safeco insurance.  They almost doubled the rate.  I kid you not, with me only driving it about 1,000 miles a year, the price went from $700 to $1300.  It's a 2005 model.

No problem thought I, I will just add it to my Arizona policy.  Honestly, they nail you at every corner.  THAT will raise my HOUSE insurance $400.  No kidding .... if I move the truck to Arizona, I will save $700, but my house insurance will go up $400.  WHY?   How can they do that legally?  They are penalizing me for not having a vehicle attached to my house.

I've really been dragging my feet about officially becoming an Arizona resident with the procurement of a drivers license, but I guess I have no choice.  Insurance companies just RIP YOU OFF!!!

To make me feel better, I'm going shopping downtown.  Many of our merchants need to feed their families, so those of us who can are heading out to spend some money.  Unfortunately, many have not received their stimulus check.  No I won't need bail money, because around here healthy people are DONE with staying home.  Unlike SOME cities who are arresting citizens for trying to keep food on the table, our Police Department has a heart.

By the way, in the interest of the truth, there was only one mask-related incident here.  The second accident was caused by the kid who moved his mask in order to talk on his phone, causing him to crash into another car and run off the road.  That's definitely a no-no!!

  1. Our stimulus money was deposited yesterday. IRS has a website where you can check on the status of your stimulus money, and about a week ago it finally said it was coming on the 6th.

  2. If it wasn't for your involvement with the Magic Kingdom why should you hold on to the California House. Just think of all the traveling you could do without it.
Be Safe and Enjoy supporting small business.

    It's about time.

    1. So true. It's mostly my friends that keep me here. Trouble is, it's the same with traveling. What makes it more fun is the friends I travel with, all of whom are not traveling now and many who are selling their rigs. It's sad.

  3. Catching up with what you have been up to. We have had good luck with the curbside at Walmart, so far. I am not missing standing in line at all in there. Though when I went in a couple of days ago I was second in line looks like a lot more are using self check at this store. The curbside people all have masks on...some covering their mouth, some covering their nose, some covering their neck.
That bite looks nasty and not fun.
We had switched to South Dakota knowing once we sold the house we would have no legal address in Michigan. We are definitely saving on our plates each year, about $700. So far, we are saving on insurance but we can see that going up each year but not by leaps and bounds. Nice that places and people in you area are using, what is the saying? Oh yes, as I recall it is common sense. Stay safe.

    1. I think Walmart's curbside pickup is excellent. It is never crowded. Much better than going through the store, although you have to be careful about what you order.

  4. in addition to comparing the insurance costs between CA and AZ, you should also consider the cost of licensing your vehicles in each state. That's another cost that varies widely between states.

    1. Exactly. I'll find out soon because I have to register my rig and vehicle in Arizona in order to have the Arizona insurance work, or so they tell me. It should matter if I own property there, but apparently it does.

  6. We shopped around until we found the best combination for our home and auto. Currently we have our home and one vehicle with one company and the truck and side by side with another.

    1. It sure seems that's what you have to do every year nowadays. I may even move my house insurance if this keeps up.

  7. I don't understand the 'penalty' you are being charged, it doesn't make sense the way I see it.
I'm happy you are getting your quilt materials and glad you are able to get out and start shopping to support the economy. The crosses we have to bear! :)

  8. Insurance is so ridiculous! You don't use it and it still goes up! Nice the quilt shop will work with you..even though it's crazy that they are shut down. I love the way you support local business. Love the free stuff you got in the mail! :)
