HaPpY BiRthDaY ELVIS!!!!!

Everyone wish Elvis a Happy Birthday today ... someone said he would be 80, but I'm certainly not THAT old.  I do hope I make it that far however!!
Yesterday was the Chapter Fair.  FMCA has a newcomer orientation, followed by the Chapter Fair so they can see which group they might want to join ... or not!!  We were told to show up at noon, set up, then leave the building because we make entirely too much noise.  We would be allowed back in the building at 1:30.  Barbara Westerfield has a video program on her computer that she runs, showing many of our rallys, along with some GREAT train music!!  We set up the two signs, my static steam train display and piled a bowl high with candy.  Whoever has the best candy, gets the most visitors, so Betty Simon bought a Grade A mix of Reeses peanut butter cups, M&M's and Twix, which kept a LOT of people at our tables!!
Our entire group wears these gold shirts, so you can easily see us in the crowd.  We had more representatives available for questions than anyone!!  Unfortunately, I always get too involved and forget to take pictures.  I think I better strap that camera to my hip and get to work!!  Here's Tom and Barbara under the Golden Spike sign.
The people in the Golden Spike group are amazing.  Not only are they very friendly and RV informative, they always volunteer to help out.  If you are NOT a member of FMCA, join just so you can be a part of our group.  We don't let any moss grow under our feet ... we are a VERY active group traveling from the West Coast to Colorado in search of the ultimate steam train ride!!
Here's another member Ed Price ... I'm pretty sure he was close to being a teenager when Elvis was born.  Boy has he got some stories to tell you ... another reason to join our group!!  I think he's 90 years old ... someone correct me if I'm wrong ... sharp as a tack and still drives his motorhome!!
Once the Chapter Fair was over, we headed back to our rigs for a scheduled BBQ dinner meeting.  Between tri-tip, salmon and chicken along with dozens of side dishes and desserts, we were all stuffed by the time the meeting began.  President Kurt went over all the rallys coming up ... 29 Palms,  Tehachapai, San Luis Obispo, Monterey-Santa Cruz, NorthEast Oregon ... we have them scheduled into 2016 so we have plenty of time to plan!!  Most, if not all, involve riding trains and visiting museums, among other activities.

Next up were the elections for our club.  You know how clubs go, the same people just switch officer positions and continue to do all the work, which makes me feel bad!!  Being pretty much the newest RV owner, I still want to travel a lot, so can't make ALL the rallys.  One position I can hold and still do my thing, is Vice President ... so I got waylaid and hi-jacked into that position.  Lots of candy was also involved in the bribe!!!!
This morning I volunteered to make breakfast for the group ... I have cinnamon rolls loaded with cream cheese frosting, blueberry muffins and potato-cheese-bacon-egg breakfast burritos, so I'd best get to work.  There will be 30 people standing at my door shortly looking for sustenance!!!
