365 DAYS OF ADVENTURE!!! DAY ONE!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!!

It was an amazingly quiet end to 2014!  We hung out with our puppies all morning long, then "the girls" went shopping in the Galleria Mall.  You know, shops like Coach, Gucci, Rolex ..... pretty much out of MY price range and I came home empty handed.  Shocker, I know!!!  I'll make up for it today or tomorrow when I wander over to Sur La Table kitchen store, one block away.  I promise I won't buy more than I can carry!!

In the afternoon, we went to an obscure little Thai restaurant on Verdugo Street.  From the outside, your first thought is to turn around and go back to Burger King on the corner.  The menu was a cross between Thai and Indian ... totally not what I expected.  I finally found the familiar Pad Thai, which I love, and turns out the food was excellent, as was the service!!

The Elks parking lot began to fill up around 6:30, and I expected to wake up several times during the night from the celebrations.  It never happened!!  Weird thing is, I never heard one firecracker, gunshot or siren the entire night ... and you KNOW how lightly I sleep!!

I do have one complaint about Southern California ... it's COLD!!!  What's up with that??  I thought it was supposed to be sunny and warm!!  This morning's temperature is 36 with a low of 34 tomorrow night.  Those parade entrants and watchers are going to be freezing this morning!! That's why I'm spending the morning in my rig, cuddled with the puppies and the heater going full blast!!  Just please say a little prayer that my propane lasts until Sunday, when I'll mosey on down to Indio.  At least there I'll have a 30 amp plug to keep me warm!!

Again, Happy New Year to you and your family ... I hope 2015 brings us all love, laughter and adventure!!

  3. In Cape Coral, FL the lowest we are supposed to get this week is 63. Highs of 82 to 84. Next time you look at the weather map with all that blue for cold, look at the little green section at the bottom of Florida and sometimes the southern tip of TX. Not as inexpensive as AR or NM, but we use a whole lot less propane. I saw on the news last night that there were terrible winds there and they showed videos of entire canopies flying 30 feet in the air still assembled with the four end poles. Looked frightening. Here's hoping for a good electric hookup. Jim

  4. It is cold in Arizona with snow at places that haven't had snow in years. Once this Arctic cold front leaves us, the temperatures will return to what it should be at this time of the year. It happens. Florida, there are times they get the cold and farmers have to watch out for the freeze...especially for the oranges. In another month, this cold air will be forgotten.
Sur La Table I love...you should be hitting their sales. I lived near the Glendale Galleria and before the mall expended over Central Avenue, the shops were reasonable. No more as you saw during your shopping. Lynn Cross
