Here We Go Again!!

What a beautiful sunny morning in the Arizona Desert.  My plan was to put on some shorts and lay out on the patio, soaking up some vitamin D.  Instead, Vail Gale decided to visit with 25 mph winds most of the day.  Still a tad bit tired from my cold, I thought I might paint this wall.  It's easy, right?

I never really thought of myself as hard on tools, but apparently that is the case.  About halfway through, the roller came loose in the handle.  The only way I could finish was to use both hands, a very awkward and tiring proposition.
When the wall was done, I decided to call it a day and contact my insurance company to be sure the motorhome insurance was paid.  Yes, that was a big mistake on my part.  Here we go again ..... it sent me into a place I don't usually go.  Here's why.

2017   -   $1900
2018   -   $2400
2019   -   $2600
2020   -   $3490

They tried to tell me it was NOT because of the windshield I had replaced, but I think they lie.  This is with Progressive I might add.  So today I'll be on the phone with Nationwide, Geico, State Farm and National General to see what can be done.  There is also a big FMCA rally here in a couple of weeks.  I'm sure there will be insurance people there I can speak with.

It's just so maddening to get ripped off like that.  After all, THEY are the ones who gave me the vanishing deductible that made my two broken windshields free ... I never asked for it!!  Grrrrrrr

I headed off to see Mr. Chance about becoming an Arizona citizen permanently.  It's an easy conversion if my other plan of just garaging my rig in Arizona doesn't work.  I'll let you know how it goes.

AND lucky for me, Dan had an extra roller I could borrow for the garage.  Gee ... now I have to go back to painting.  I finished up the short end wall and did about half the ceiling.  I kept thinking how cool it was I didn't get paint all over me.  Then I happened to look in the mirror.  It took me 30 minutes to get the big white spots out of my hair.
Exhausted, I didn't feel like cooking, not that I spend much time in that endeavor anyway, and remembered it was password Thursday.  Say the magic word and Arizona Pizza Company gives you a $6.00 discount.  $20 for a large that will last at least five days.
It was the perfect way to end a lovely day!!  Weird Arizona weather has struck again however, with 22-25 mph winds all day today, bringing rain on and off this next week.  Maybe I'll be able to finish painting the garage, or maybe I'll take up a new hobby ...... like chain painting!!  Yup, it's a real thing!!

  1. Zowsa! That insurance just keeps jumping in leaps and bounds!!
We've debated on whether to get the invisible deductible added but now I'm concerned if it would be worth it. Our ded. is $500.
Good job on painting though. Painstaking but worth it and you're almost done! Just wear a doo-rag next time. :)
    Pizza looks wonderful!!

    1. Yes they did, and a new couple has taken over. At the time I checked with them, they were not any cheaper. Now it's a different story.

  3. Now you know why painters wear hats or bandanas. Sure hope you move your residency to Arizona, I am sure it would be much better tax wise for you.

    1. PS: One of my brothers lives in Nevada (Rachell) and in Alta CA. He keeps an older car licensed for California so that he does not get stopped and keeps him from having to explain or be challenged about his Nevada residency.

    2. I'm sure an Arizona residency will save me in the long run. Checking with my tax guy now.

  4. Painters Hats save you from paint in your hair. Glad that we aren't dealing with your insurance.
If you finally change your residence to Arizona check their vehicular licensing out as well.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  5. WOW. The first thing I would tell the insurance is that obviously your company does not like to insure Motorhomes. Certainly move your business.

    1. Pretty crazy, right? I guess it's because it's California.

  6. Oh wow! That is a big jump in premiums. Time to do some insurance research for sure. Be sure to take it slow. Those pesky colds come back if you get tired or stressed. You need to get out of Tucson and someplace with nice weather. Like Yuma.

  7. We rode our bikes on the Santa Cruz trail yesterday and it was BRUTAL coming back into the headwind. It took forever to get home.
From what I have gleaned from the interwebs, if you're in state for more than 5 months they want you to register your vehicle here. That makes zero sense to me. We did know people in the RV park that left an AZ registered car here because insurance was cheaper than their home state. So apparently you can register a vehicle without having residency.
Establishing residency was easy. We got driver's licenses and registered to vote. Sold the RV and toad, bought two new cars, registered them here. Poof! We're residents. Now I have to pay state income tax which I really hate. Haven't done that for years.
We had Progressive and it was just getting stupid expensive.
Hope you're feeling better. Being sick seems to make time slow down.

    1. It seems to be the solution to ridiculous pricing. Gosh, the wind yesterday was even worse!! I can't imagine riding against it!

  8. Did you ever consider downsizing your RV

To something on the idea of a sprinter type van. It would still give you room for the yapes and Tweetie

    No jacks no slides

    Better gas mileage

and you drive it like a pick up truck... Park-it damn near Anywhere

The only con,,, Would be smaller water tank and some units do / don’t have a generator although you use plug ins at home and RV parks 99% of the time

Solar panels are also an option

  10. We have Progressive for our vehicles and trailer in NV. In CA Progressive was way too expensive, but in NV it's cheap..go figure! Pizza looks so yummy! Garage is looking good! Curious the benefit to being an Arizona resident?

    1. That's what I hear about Progressive. I don't understand why it's so high in California. Too many people with no insurance I'm guessing.
