Happy St Patrick's Day!

I hope you are getting your GREEN on today.  Unfortunately, I have nothing green to wear.

So, in the world of the Coronavirus, I stopped in at Safeway yesterday morning for Cooper chicken.  I would like to thank all those hoarders who bought up absolute everything in the store over the weekend, not giving a single thought to anyone else in the neighborhood.  I know none of my friends did this!!

The shelves were empty.  No fruits and vegetables, no meat (except there was a large pile of shrimp) and no toilet paper.  What there WAS and what I loaded up on was ICE CREAM.  Hey, that works for me!!!  Thank goodness there will be no shortage of ice cream.  The sad part is the only thing they were restocking in the entire store was ... you guessed it ... ICE CREAM.
Here's another one for you.  My two little cities in California have declared a national emergency.  Let me tell you that there is not one single case of the virus in THE ENTIRE COUNTY!!  Their idea is to cash in on all that federal money Trump is making available.

They are just as bad as the hoarders in my book.  Just who do you think is going to repay all that FEDERAL money???  We the taxpayers.  Enough of that, it just makes me scream and yell at the cactus in the back yard.

SO ... the Chance family were nice enough to ask me to dinner to partake in their flank steak pot of gold.  I've never tasted anything so good in my life.  On the way home, they even gave me a piece to cook so I wouldn't have to eat Cooper's dog food.  Cooper and Jessie do not like to share.

Less than ten minutes on the barbecue along with a few onions and I have meals for at least four days.  I'm determined to find out the secret to the tenderness which seems to come from a dry rub.
I sliced it up for lunchtime tacos.  My oh my ... it's even better than the ugly steaks I've raved about.
So here's a quick rundown of the RV insurance saga while you watch Cooper watching his ball.
All of these were quoted with 250/500,000 coverage on everything, $5,000 medical and $1,000 deductible on comp and collision.

Progressive (based on California rates, replacement value)      $3690  (no Jeep)
Geico (based on Arizona rates, current value)     $2,700  (includes Jeep)
National General who I called directly
(based on Arizona rates, current value)   $3140  (includes Jeep)
Miller Insurance out of Oregon
National General (based on Arizona rates, current value)  $2100  (includes Jeep)

So there you have it ... I compared apples to apples and went with Miller Insurance and National General.  By the way, if I was full-timing, that rate would be $200 higher.  The good news is I owe less than the current value at this point, so I'm okay as far as that goes.

My advice is to call Roxanne 503-636-6347 and see what YOUR rates might be. Believe it or not, I just saved $2,900 on insurance for both the rig and the Jeep FOR ONE YEAR.  It would have been $5,000 to insure both this year.  Nancy is a happy camper!!

Isn't he cute??
I would address San Francisco and the idiot in charge, the fecal matter allowed on the streets, the RV's they are providing to quarantine those people (which will have to be burned when it's over), the closure of every restaurant and bar, regardless of how many will go out of business, or people who won't get paid, etc. etc.  but my cactus is tired of hearing me scream.  I'm afraid it won't bloom if I keep it up.
Hope you have a HAPPY ST. PATRICK'S DAY and a green beer or two!!

  1. One thing you might want to ask your insurance agent
a friend of mine had an RV coach when he wasn't using it he had the insurance company( progressive ) downgrade to fire and theft but when he went back on the road had collision and medical put back on the insurance not knowing millers insurance criteria they may be able to do that while your RV is sitting and not in use
One other thing that if you switch your registration from California to Arizona when you go to register your vehicles would you have to pay a sales tax
That would be another thing to look into as far as cost to change over your insurance might not be productive enough
    Have a happy Green Day

    1. Unfortunately I can't do that because i have a loan on the rig. The loan company said no. There would be no sales tax because I already own it. Sales tax only if you buy it from someone.

  2. Sounds good on insurance. Get those vehicles registered in AZ now and be done with it....save a bunch of money.

My sister said that on Friday she went to COSTCO and the lines were so long, and they were out of lots of stuff, including chicken. Figured she would go to Raley's Saturday morning...arrived at 8:30 to beat the rush. OMG, the lines to check out were to the back of the store, and they too were out of chicken and fish and most meats, not to even think about TP, cleaning supplies, etc.

The other sister is now working from home, as on Friday the office told everyone to pack up all they needed to work from home, checkout computers, etc as needed, and you must be gone within 2 hours.

  4. Always wise to shop around for Insurance. It might be cheaper yet if you changed your address from California to Arizona.
    Nice looking Meal.

  7. I enjoy your blog and all your drama queen antics. As dumb as I am, I always feel like a neurosurgeon after reading it.
It should be even more entertaining in the next few weeks to hear about you and your pets starving to death because you are in Lalaland about the current situation and you will discover your insurance papers won't be much of a meal.
No one is happy right now and plenty of idiots to blame but you can only blame yourself for not preparing for the inevitable.
I have about six months of supplies and feel like it isn't close to being enough. Please wake up and get your shit together.

    1. Penelope, I totally respect your opinion, but in my view, the inevitable is that some people will get the flu and most all will survive, just like what happened with the swine flu and every other flu over the past many years. I simply choose not to add to the panic.
