A Couple Of Reviews

About once every three months, I see exciting things out on the train tracks.  No worries, they are not going to fight at the borders.  These guys load up and head East for practice runs.  In no time, I will see them returning.
The train wasn't long at all, but it was a nice diversion from sitting on the couch.
With not much else going on, I've loaded a couple of pictures of the items I've been taste testing.  I'm in love with macaroni and cheese, although I never make it any more.  Pasta and I don't get along.  HOWEVER ... when I spotted this in the frozen food section, I thought why not?  Does it not sound delicious?  And that picture!!!!
They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and this one just about sums it up.  Doesn't quite look the same, does it?  I will tell you that the beautiful pulled pork chunks above have been ground into paste in this version.  That one lovely piece you see is more akin to baby food, I kid you not.

This is an F for epic fail.  I couldn't even TASTE cheese and the sweet barbecue sauce just didn't get it.  I never call the 800 number and give a review, but with nothing else to do, I plan on letting them know their grade.
In the meantime, what to do with four bananas!  Make more bread of course.  This is actually Jonathan's favorite food at the moment.  This one is loaded with pineapple, making it moist and delicious.  Jon gives it an A!!
Next up, as I wandered through Walmart, I spotted this package of bacon bits.  You can actually see the little pieces through the "window".  I've no idea what this cost, I just threw it in my basket to be used in salads.

This is the best thing since peanut butter!!  It gets an A+!  There is very little fat, GREAT flavor and I put it on everything.  I even spread some on my pizza.  All the bacon and none of the greasy fatty mess.  This is my new fav!
I did make a quick run to Walmart for DEF fluid for the rig.  I have one of those where they put the DEF tank on the wrong side, meaning I have to buy it in containers to fill the tank.  Driving backwards through the "IN" truck line is a good way to get yelled at.  I'll describe that adventure tomorrow.

In the meantime, I tenderized a chunk of flank steak for dinner, using what I had on-hand.
I'm rather short of time this morning, as I'm heading back to the grocery store for a few things.  I love that the stores have all come up with Senior Hours between 6 and 8 am when everyone sleeps in until 9.  I have actually seen pajamas at some place besides Walmart.

I'll report on that tomorrow too!!

  1. You have a unique outlook that appreciate very much. I always keep a couple of jugs of blue def on hand even when I'm not travelling much simply because I don't want to run out, it would cause big issues if you ran out. We add blue def at the top of the engine, which is very high, very awkward and hard to reach. It takes two of us to add DEF. I feel your pain! Stay healthy!

    1. Why thank you!! My Def additive is not quite as hard, but they put the tank so far under the side of the rig, it's hard to get it all in. I'm sure it was designed by a guy! LOL

  2. We do the same with different Frozen Foods. Some never come back while others are kept as backup staples when we don't have time to cook fresh.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

  4. About the only Marie Callender's frozen dinners I like are the Chicken Pot Pies, the larger ones. Of course, not on this diet...but a fond memory. Perhaps when you talk to them you can rave about the pot pies, and complain about the Pulled Pork Mac & Cheese...they just might send you a good coupon for Pot Pies.

    1. Oh yeah ... those pot pies are awesome!! I don't buy them either. I think they have about 2,000 calories each! LOL

  5. Nancy, I would call the 800 number and tell them what you think. I bought a yogurt by Choebi??? and could read the expiration date; called them & complained; received 3 free coupons good until 12/31/20 in a handwritten note....very personal. I had bread problem in Wyoming 2 years ago; told the store & received another loaf. Called the manufacturer & received coupons. Try it...they may respond. Lynn Cross

    1. Good idea Lynn. I did that with macadamia nuts and got two huge bags of free.

  6. I'm not a fan of Mac and cheese but I definitely didn't like that one. I do like the idea of bacon bits. I put that on my grocery list. Will go really well with my salads. I need to figure out what this def stuff is. Sounds like I should be adding it. You can explain it to me when you visit.

    1. If your rig was made between 2012 and now, you have to have it. I don't remember what year you said the white lion was. You are lucky if you don't need it. It's a pain! Thinking I'll come down tomorrow .... Thursday.

    1. They are pretty tasty Elva. Be sure and get the Hormel ones. They just add flavor without the mess.

  8. Hi Nancy, Jim Davis here.( Allison's husband)In case you are curious, the first picture of armored vehicles is a couple of Bradley Fighting Vehicles. The ones in the second photo are Paladin self-propelled howitzers. Little bit of army trivia for you.....

  9. If you have a Famous Dave's in your area, get their Mac n Cheese. Fantastic. A Pulled Chicken BBQ sandwich with MnC at 10.95 is delicious and good for 2 meals. Thom had ribs with corn, potato salad and coleslaw. A little more$$, but will last you 3-4 meals.

    1. Now if anyone knows where the best food is, it's Barbara and Tom. I'll look and see if they have one here. That is a very good deal and right up my alley. Hope your family is hanging in there.

  10. That Mac and Cheese is more than disappointing Marie Callender's should be ashamed of herself...
Tom really likes those bacon bits, also. Maybe I should try them...lol
