Another awesome day in the desert began quietly until there was a knock at my door. There stood Patsy ... let's go walk!! And off we went into the cold morning. About half way through, she asked if I was okay to take the long route. Of course I said ... lying through my teeth!! Well not really, because I did think I was okay, and as it turned out, I survived. Funny though ... her phone said it was barely a mile. My GPS watch said it was two miles. We will have to figure that out for real.
It was pretty much a do-nothing day ... no classes, no appointments ... but I did hit the puzzle for an hour and found six more pieces. Gee .. I bet there's only 959 pieces left!!
After a quick sandwich for lunch, more crocheting ensued, whereupon I realized I won't have a "rig" afghan, but maybe a "Cooper" afghan. I'm going to run out long before it gets big.
Time flew by as I watched a little rodeo. The satellite dish is working like a dish should. In no time it was mid afternoon and we headed out for Happy Hour at Roadrunner. My oh my ... how the RV parks and BLM land have exploded. Seems like MANY more than the last few years.
There's always lots of discussion about which of the many crazy roads to take, none of which go straight. Bill drove us right to it this time, though it was easier to find due to the 15-20 big Beaver rigs next door. We solved all the world's problems, or at least those involved in crossing the border. Here's Ken ...
Ken's lovely wife Kim, along with Bill .....
Patsy and Donovan rounded out the group. In no time, we were headed back to the Pup Kids, waiting for us with lots of barks.
I was excited to return to THIS! Patsy baked cinnamon rolls and one made it into my rig. YUM YUM! It disappeared in a flash.
That's when I noticed my watch. Surely I didn't walk THIS far today? YIKES! I need more couch sitting! At least I didn't feel bad about eating that sweet roll!
Dinner was another schooling in microwave cooking. Patsy was kind enough to bring me a rack for my microwave so I could convection cook, but you need a glass or metal dish for that, yes? Or better yet, a tiny air fryer. I see another trip to the store in my future.
I was afraid the convection setting would start the paper plates on fire, so I microwaved the chicken tenders. They were okay, but definitely NOT crunchy. I heated up the potatoes ... no problem. I really need to sit down and come up with ideas for cooking when I'm parked, especially since McDonalds is not just down the street.
We watched the news and finally went to bed, with anticipation like it was Christmas Eve. The big tent opens this morning. We will be one of the first ones in line!! I can't wait!!
You can never trust those odometer thingys. Whenever Barb and I go for a walk or hike, her odometer thingy says like 1.43 miles, while the internal odometer in my head says 12 miles. I am sure my internal one is more accurate!
ReplyDeleteYou just need to precook at home, baggie up in serving size, reheat. A Sam's/Costco Rotisserie Chicken can make many meals for one person...cut up breast meat, add cheese, heat till cheese melts, put on a tortilla and roll it up. (Add peas if you want some veggies with your meal)
ReplyDeleteCinnamon roll looks mighty good.
ReplyDeleteHappy Saturday!
Frances:)
Walmart has a small air fryer for $29.95. It is all analog, no digital, just a couple of knobs. We have one and it works great. Going on three years of daily usage now. One of my better purchases, right up there with the fry daddy.
