Oh yeah ... it's still cold!! I'm really not complaining, because the days are perfect and I don't have to worry about kids overheating. Here we are at 7:15 in the morning, ready to hit the road at 32 degrees. Brrrrr ... weird how the lights look like the Northern Lights.
I expected the sunrise to be a good one when I saw this.
Which soon turned into this .....
And it just got better as we walked the long block. This makes it a lot more fun to be out walking in the cold weather.
This was an interesting find as we rounded a corner. This little palm tree was full of dates. Too bad they were way too dry to be edible. Next time maybe when Patsy and Bill arrive, she might take a quick walk around and grab a bunch while they are still ripe. The little palm tree was covered in them.
Once back home and thawed out a bit, I watched the sky as these UFO guys did a fly by!! Not really, but I did have to look twice. It was time to get ready for our next craft class ... Quilling With Jess. Since Bill didn't have to work the tent this morning, Patsy drove Black Beauty and chauffeured me to the class.
Here we are with all the supplies. Twisting the paper was easy. Keeping it from going TWANG and unrolling was another story all together. Once you got it small enough to fit in the hole in the ruler, you tapped it to get it to unwind to the correct size. TWANG!!! If it popped out, which of course it did, you had to rewind and try again. A teeny tiny drop of glue would finally hold it in place.
I think all of us had to make them over and over before finally gluing them together. Then all our big fat fingers tried to roll those tiny rolls and attach them to those even SMALLER rings. The big rolls were called vortex shapes, the smaller ones just rolls. It's much harder than it looks!
Two hours later, I finally got my pair finished. Umm yeah I doubt you will see me wearing them, but now I know the basics, I might try again to make something passable. Yes, the big piece is supposed to look like that. It all depended on the colors you chose. As you know, that is not my forte in quilting OR quilling.
After a quick lunch, we were off once again to Happy Hour in the desert. Deb and Tom just made it back with Stinger Bee to the spot they love. It was so good to hang out with them once again. I got a lesson in Canadian government on this day. I had no idea it was so different from our own. They seem to be having the same problems we do. Of course we solved them all, but no one would listen to us!!
Back home, I got an invitation to dinner that I could not turn down. THIS is one of Bill's Burgers. Bacon, cheese and all the fixings on a perfect bun. This thing rivals Habit Burger. I even offered to do the dishes, until I discovered they have a dishwasher! Thank you so much ..... it was DELICIOUS!
Bright and early this morning we are off to the Big Tent so Patsy and I can take a second look while Bill works his booth. We might even head over to Tyson Wells and see what trouble we can get into over there. Oh the excitement of finding those perfect treasures!!!
Nancy I have that flannel shirt@
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike.

So, Pensacola got 5-6 inches of SNOW! A record for that area for sure. Fox Weather showed a guy ice skating down Canal Street in New Orleans!!! WTH??? At least we don't have anyone in the current administration saying, "See, Global Weather Changes!" I wonder what the left was saying when Noah got into his Ark and waters came up???? NEWS!!! God made the weather to change! lol
