We were up early ... again in the freezing cold ... and ready to hit the road. This morning my weather app says 37 degrees! Oooweee!
Today we were headed back to the Big Tent for some shopping. Not that we really needed anything, but we were hopeful they had better candy! Look ... no crowds as we entered the building at 9:00.
These two kids ... they look like panda bears. They were definitely more bundled up than I was.
And so here's a walk down memory lane. I know most of you have been here, so you will recognize many of these pictures. This is a new one, and I did not partake.
Another new one ... popped milo. Who knew? I told the guy we used to grow this for cattle feed. Now they have learned to pop it into a light airy NO HULLS snack. We both got samples, and it was quite tasty, without spitting out pieces that stuck in your teeth. Sadly, it was something like $10.00 a bag. That would be a no.
Of course there were several pots and pans, none of which I needed, but I almost slipped a lid into my purse. No, they wouldn't sell it to me separately. I thought about a saucepan, but too pricey.
Needless to say, since it was so cold, everyone was crowded around these babies. SOOOO nice, but I have no space.
I'm sure everyone remembers these beauties full of sugar and calories beyond belief. Hey, it's apples ... and one a day keeps the doctor away, right?
I know you remember these things twirling in the lights. I think I bought three in years past to hang on the rear view mirror of my rig. That never happened. In fact, I think they have been in the drawer at home ever since.
Now THIS guy ... he was not giving out candy, but free HUGS!! That lasted until 9:02 when Patsy, the WIFE, and I got there. The plan was for us to walk around and spend money until we were exhausted, and then head back home. Patsy would pick Bill up when the tent closed.
Next stop ... outside. The ooey gooey funnel cakes were there again, along with the chicken barbecue next door. Oh my gosh, it smelled SO good, but was as windy as could be.
We braved the breeze and headed to the kitchen store, followed by our favorite tool tent at the opposite end. We found needle nose pliers for quilling and gloves for $2, all the while looking for a rack for my convection oven. That one was elusive.
Anyone remember this guy? He has the teepee up every year, selling honey. I think he was the only warm person around.
Wind yard art, one of which I purchased last year. It lasted one season before breaking. They were all twirling in the wind on this day.
Lastly, we hit up the Grocery Store, most everything past dated. These Oreos jumped into my basket by themselves. The last I looked they were $7.00 in my town. These were $3.00 and don't expire until Jan 31, 2025. Of course that means I have to eat them EVERY SINGLE NIGHT before they expire!!
I found a $2 sink strainer that fits in the van perfectly, along with some thyme, and a couple cups of instant rice, also not yet expired. That's the kind of thing I'll be cooking from now on! Is there a KFC around here?
After a long morning, we landed back at Black Beauty, where we both creaked and groaned as we got in the truck. Patsy expertly drove us home. It's a really big truck!!
I opened the door and was greeted by my sweet puppy Cooper. I picked him up to take him outside immediately, when he promptly threw up all over me and the van. Oh yeah ... my new shoes, my clean Levis, my coat, my clean van rug, the steps, the whole shebang. So that pretty much explains where I spent the rest of the afternoon. Oh the fun ... and the smell!!
Once everything was hung up to dry. I headed back over to the clubhouse to work on the puzzle with Patsy. TA DA!!! I think it took an hour to finish up the last 50 pieces. I headed straight home to celebrate with Oreos!!
That was it, another glorious day in the cold and windy desert. Today's high ... 63 with 5-10 mph winds. It even looks like rain next week. Here's hoping it doesn't SNOW!!!
Sounds like a fun day with the exception of Cooper throwing up. Poor little guy.
ReplyDeleteHope you have a good Friday.
Frances:)
These shows are so tempting to treat yourself to something you would otherwise not go shopping for. Enjoy your goodies! Sorry about Cooper, hope he is ok now. Was it excitement or something he ate? I know the cleanup was not something you looked forward to.
