OOPS .........

SUMMER has arrived ... at least in the late afternoon.  Mornings are cold and damp.  I guess Mother Nature can't make up her mind.  So when I walked out yesterday morning, I had on Levis, boots and a flannel shirt.

That's when I found this!  OOPS!!!  Something isn't right!  Just kidding ... I opened the valve to dump the water tank.  You have to practically lay on the concrete when you're not exactly sure where it is.  It's a tiny little valve ... barely letting out a quarter inch stream of water.  It was a half full 35 gallon tank, so it took some time.

While that was dumping, I took a look at the propane tank.  It's a miracle ... it's still just as full as the day I had it filled.  NO LEAKS.  Hallelujah!!!  I'm ready to roll ... if I can just get at least four days off!!

I was out the door early ... heading to TAR-ZHAAA ... or Target as it were.  I never shop there, nor does hardly anyone else.  At 10:00 I had the run of the store.  Honesty, I don't know how they stay in business.  However, they do always seem to have the exact item I'm looking for.

This time it was these plastic drawers with rollers.  One just like these lives in the RV closet ... super lightweight and perfect for storing clothing, sandals and miscellaneous stuff.  For $16.00 each, you can't beat them.  THESE are for my quilting room.

There is all this wasted space under the longarm where I could store the rolls and rolls of thread.  Oh there are fancy expensive drawers you can purchase for this purpose, but as you know, I'm cheap.  Oh look ... I even have room for one more!!

Of course I never can go in that store and come out with ONLY what I was after.  These cool thermos bottles were on sale.  Why did I need another one?  Because this is smaller, much easier to carry, has a built in straw which is weird but works really well, and a flip top that latches tight, along with a carry handle.  That's what I was after ... an easy carry handle you can stick your fingers through.  TADA!!  Don't ask what this thing cost.  A good thermos has NEVER been cheap.

Time to get one more quilt done.  They are simple ... just a random stipple thing.  And THEN IT HAPPENED.

OOPS ... OH NO!!  I forgot to measure.  You know ... measure twice, cut once?  I forgot to measure the backing to make sure I put it on the machine the right direction.

I got to the very last row and what do I see?  PINS!!  I shouldn't be seeing any pins at this point.  Darn, darn and DOUBLE DARN.  Those weren't the exact words I used, but you get the picture.  It was 4 inches short.  I had to remove the entire thing from the longarm, go cut a wide piece of fabric (thank goodness I still had some of this fabric) and stitch it across the bottom.

Re-pinning is a pain.  It's like having to quilt TWO quilts instead of one.  I reset the entire thing and quilted the last row.  The backing is so busy, hopefully no one will know.  Note to self ... DO NOT DO THAT AGAIN!  Measure every time!  As usual, it was Cooper approved.  It's so funny that every time I lay one on the floor for a picture, he has to be IN the picture.

While perusing the aisles of Tar-zhaa looking for lemon curd, which I was oh-so-sure they did not have, I spotted a bag of split peas.  PERFECT!  Though tacos were on the menu for lunch, dinner was split pea soup with ham.  I was so happy ... I got to use one whole zip-loc bag full!!  Only two more bags to go!!  It was really quite tasty!!

And now for Alcatraz.  As you know, our new President has a sense of humor.  I love it when he mentions something to the Press and they run with it, only to find out he was trolling them.  This one?  Truly, I'm hoping he's serious about it!

However ... I've been there many times on photo shoots for various projects, and it will require a LOT of work.  It was suggested they might just tear it down completely and rebuild a new maximum security prison.

Of course Newsom and Pelosi are having a fit ... saying it's a National Park.  Yup they are right ... it's FEDERALLY owned, so I guess they can do what they want with it.  Imagine the jobs that will be created, the supplies that will be required.  It might even put some people BACK in business.  Time will tell if this materializes.  I'm sure with today's technology, it could be done, but wouldn't it just be easier to deport the worst of the worst?

And so ended another Cinco de Mayo day.  Since I missed a REAL Mexican dinner, I may just stop on the way to the lodge and pick up something to go.  I'm pretty sure I have at least 15 restaurants and food trucks to choose from!!

Adios Amigos!!!

    1. I know ... I thought about it, but $9.00 a tub is a little steep, and it's not on my diet!

    1. The room might be organized, but it's the fabric that's a disaster! lol

  3. Quilting can be so frustrating at times. I always fear that I won't get the backing pieces with enough extra. Like the rolling drawers, great for your threads.

  5. I use those plastic storage cabinets for my crafts in the Bunky, er, She-Shed. I bring just 2 of the drawers along in the Suite with paints etc. in them.
Did you ever get on that other web site I told you about? They'd be handy for quilt storage too!
Such a cute little puppy peeking out of that quilt! ♥

    1. I finally found them, and spent an hour in the rig trying to decide if I really needed them. I only carry two small quilts that lay flat over the WHITE side seats, so decided against it. Then I found three uses for them in the house linen closet. So ..........
