CANDY AND CAKE!

What's the old saying ... if I had known I would live this long I would have taken better care of myself?  Yup ... there was another trip around the sun for me.  It might have been a less painful one had I not been mowed down by cows and bucked off (or thrown off) my horses over the years, but lucky for me, I'm not feeling too bad.

I owe it all to drinking from water hoses, swimming in the carp infested canals, riding horses which made my bones strong when I hit the ground, and running for 30 years.  It's amazing all my pieces still fit together like they are supposed to.

Mr. Cooper and I spent the morning relaxing on the couch ... but not for long.

I do see ... and am not happy to say ... I've become rather messy in my old age.  I'm not nearly as good at putting things away as I used to be.  At least it's not because of dirty dishes .........

While I contemplated my plan of the day, I savored a lovely piece of Sees Candy.  I made this brown sugar deliciousness last 15 minutes.  It was only a sign of what was to come!

If nothing else, the walk around my yard every morning to check on the veggies is helping the miles to add up.  Looky here!!!  ANOTHER BLOSSOM.  How did life come down to being so excited over veggies?

A closer look .... OH MY ..... a zucchini!!  If I get enough of these tiny things, I can fry them up with the flower for an epicurious delight.  Not really ... I'm not into eating flowers.  But I AM not so patiently waiting for these to get bigger!!

THIS however ..... THIS was my objective on this day.  To completely drown myself in the sugar that I have been missing since this diet thing took hold.  Sadly, the Starbucks LARGE macchiato caramel something or other, melted before a picture could be obtained.  I left my phone at home.

My plan was to get one small cake ... chocolate with peanut butter frosting.  They were sold out.  So I opted for the same thing in cupcake size.  I only wanted three.  Buy five and you get one free.  Okay ... FIVE it is.

I finished the 1200 calorie Starbucks drink and the 2,000 calorie cupcake in one sitting.  MAN THAT WAS GOOD!!  Sugar overload!!  And then came the GUILT!  I'm going to gain back three pounds from that!!!

So to negate at least a little of it, I grabbed my vacuum and went to town on all things carpeted.  Well almost all things ... I didn't want to get carried away and do ALL of it.  I did my bedroom, which then required a dump of the vacuum, before heading to the sewing room.

To say I was shocked, is an understatement.  I don't vacuum it often because there's so much stuff on the floor I have to move first.  My trash can is now full and I'm exhausted.  Dragging that thing around is like an entire gym workout in 30 minutes.  It took all of 10 minutes to decide I need a new easy-to-use upright vacuum where I don't spend half the time on the floor changing out pieces and dumping the bin.  Maybe I'll even vacuum more often!  Amazon is my friend.

Trying to atone for the cupcake and candy, dinner was simply leftovers.  Remember the avocados kept in water in the fridge?  Here's my report.  DO THIS!

So here it's been 12 days since I plopped those avocados into water and stuck them in the fridge.  We are down to the last two.  Actually, none are left at the moment.  I don't know if it makes a difference, but these are the small ones you get in a plastic net bag.

TA-DAH!!!  Perfectly ripe, not mushy and not spoiled.  Nor do they have black spots on the outside.  I'm doing this from now on.  I would probably have thrown away at least two of them due to being overripe and mushy.

And so ended a great day ... very happy to still be upright, breathing and full of cake.  Those other cupcakes?  They went in the freezer.  Maybe in another month I'll indulge in a sugar blast once again. In the meantime, I'm gearing up for a Memorial Day party to honor our Veterans of the Honor Guard.  It's going to be a great barbecue!!!

  4. Happy Birthday Nancy!! I can say it now! All those sweets are just what you deserve, you earned them! Don't worry, you won't gain anything back.
I forgot the avocado and water thing, crap, mine are soft and mushy. So, cover them completely or just sit them in it? I'll remember this time, I promise!

  6. Happy happy day. I always plan a treat on my birthday and it almost always involves chocolate. Birthdays are rather a love/hate relationship for me.
