May Flowers

What's that saying?  April showers bring May flowers?  Well I guess I can attest to that little diddy.  In spite of my black thumb, my flowers are blooming like crazy.  These close up every night and bloom again the next day after the sun has warmed them up.

Somehow when I spotted them while walking Cooper on this morning, I became a little motivated.  We only went to the front lawn, but he was happy as could be smelling the grass while I pulled weeds.  The lawn looks nice and green until you take a close look and one whole section is just weeds mowed flat.

Around back it was just the same, so while Cooper made sure no DARN CAT walked on his lawn, I pulled even more.  Truthfully, that is NOT my favorite pastime.  My now aching hand will attest to that.

That's when I ran head on into my used-to-be-little tree.  That distracted me as I brought out a pair of shears and began trimming it up.  Mid trim, I got distracted yet again by my miniature bottle brush that needed trimming and had become home to a gabillion ants now stinging my foot.  That distracted me yet again ... well you see where this is going.

There are now huge piles of trimmings all over the back yard.  I suppose that should be the attack plan for today, but I'm procrastinating.  Besides, I have company, and little to no sleep has sapped all my energy.

That is evidenced by the lack of pictures.  We spent two hours catching up before heading out to Applebees for dinner.  Big mistake .... BIG.  Talk about being up all night.  I had their yummy salmon, a huge pile of mashed potatoes, broccoli and a green salad.  What could go wrong?

Apparently something because you guessed it, I was up all night long.  My stomach sounds like THE BIG ONE ... the earthquake of all earthquakes!  I guess I won't be eating THERE again!!  I forgot my phone, so this is an internet picture.  My piece of salmon was 1/2" thick and round, like a burger patty.  Weird.  Maybe it was the melted garlic butter I poured on the potatoes.  Anyway ..........

The good news ... Weed Man showed up to spray the corrals.  YAY!

The bad news ... one of the sprinklers that SHOULD be completely turned off in the newly laid gravel has decided to spout off clear across the driveway.  I suppose that will be the problem of the day.

It's Lodge Meeting night and I'm going to play hookey.  They are serving Mexican food ... tacos, chicken, rice and beans ... that I'm pretty sure won't go well with that salmon I ate.  It's time someone else stood up for an hour taking dinner tickets.

Hopefully by tomorrow I'll be healed up enough to make the GALA DINNER.

    1. I love their food ... we decided it was too much garlic.

  3. We use to LOVE Applebee's, actually the first restaurant Marcia and I ever ate together. But something has changed...we have not been there for a number of years now.

    1. Same here. It seems they overcook their food quite a bit. We think it was the garlic butter, since it also made Cyndae sick previously.
