HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!!!

Now that the FOURTH is behind you, it's time for another celebration.  HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!!!  Yes, as a kid, I couldn't figure out why we were celebration mayonnaise.  Little did I know what I was missing, because we never had tacos in our house.  We were a meat and potatoes family.

I do remember having one of these blouses, but we never saw any celebrating.  It wasn't a thing back in the day.  Today however I celebrate with lots of tacos, guacamole, rice and beans.  I do LOVE Mexican food.  We are lucky they kept those traditions alive.

Lately, it's been feeling more like Alaska than Mexico however.  It's cold and the sun is weird.  It never seems to go down.  It's light when I get up and it's light when I go to bed.  Adding this weird halo thing with lots of wind on my morning walk, made me go faster.

Two miles went by quickly, as some nice gentleman rode past me saying I should get a bike.  Talk about procrastination, that bike has had a flat tire for about three years now.  I finally picked up the pace for the last half mile and actually RAN home.  Needless to say, I'm a little stiff and sore this morning.  I'm hoping some tacos will help that.

I watered the tomatoes, discovering even more beauties hanging on the vine.  I also discovered which ones will be the big producers.  Little Bings are leading the pack.  Next year I'll know exactly what to buy.  I'm pretty sure you're going to get tired of seeing tomato pictures!

I picked up the house, picked up all the garden trimmings I threw on the lawn last week, and picked up a couple of shirts on Amazon.  Truly, that one never excites me until I get them in hand and they FIT.  I also picked up the pair of socks Cyndae dropped on the floor on her way out the door.  I'm putting a lost and found bucket by the back door.

This was my view for the next hour as I sat outside in the nice breezy weather and contemplated how I was going to prep for Mothers Day this coming weekend, since we will be short handed.  Feeding 300 folks can be stressful.

I became completely distracted by the screeching coming from above me.  There must be a nest nearby, though I'm not sure what's in it.  These two were dive bombing this hawk who was just floating around like he was sightseeing.  He never tried to fly away and they hit him over and over again.  Eventually he wandered off heading North and the two landed in the trees behind me.

Now completely bored, and HOT, I headed back inside to be reminded I have THREE quilts on the rack to be quilted.  I had trouble with the last one, and wasn't all that excited to go through it again.  I double and triple checked everything, adjusted the tension top and bottom and put in a new needle.

Hallelujah!!  After three rows of watching and listening every second, I finally relaxed and finished it up with not one problem.

Whew ... what a relief.  This one now goes on the "needs to be bound" pile.  I think this is #7 out of 14 ... half way there!!

There's lots going on this week ... finally mail out the B of A paperwork, quilt two quilts, BINGO, DRIVERS LICENSE (that should be a fun one, yes?), prepare my Mothers Day cooking schedule and find out what was making that clicking noise in my bedroom closet last night, that woke me up at 2:00.  I'm such a light sleeper, EVERYTHING wakes me up.

And of course don't forget ....... TACOS!!!   HAPPY CINCO DE MAYO!!!

Oh and ......... wait for it ......... ALCATRAZ!!!  But that's for tomorrow!

    1. Thank you Joanne. Never tried Mexican food? Corn tortillas filled with long-cooked beef, salsa, avocado and a little raw cabbage (or lettuce) ... YUM! Along with rice and refried beans. It's a staple around here. I think we have more Mexican restaurants than any other kind.
