Sometimes you get to RING THE BELL ... but it was not on this day! I think Sandie is right .... I have not been drinking enough water .... or maybe it was the food!
Bingo days are slow. I try to do as little as possible in order to save all my strength for the masses. That does not always work out well.
Does this couch make my butt look big? Such a sweet boy who always makes me smile.
I started off on the wrong foot. I called the Vet to renew Cooper's prescription for worm and flea meds which the Vet said could be done with no appointment. The gal said I needed an appointment. There goes around $350 just to say ... yup, his temperature is fine, his heart is fine ... $350 and you can have his medicine. It's ridiculous ... so I hung up. Maybe some day I'll call for the appointment. Too bad I can't get those meds in Mexico ... or maybe I can. I will check on that.
Lunch was quick and easy since I was still recovering from the last Mexican meal I had. Fry up hamburger VERY well done and dump in half a bag-o-cabbage-salad. Stir in some sweet chili sauce and dinner is served. It's cheap and fast to make. I'm sure it has a name, but I've no idea what that might be.
At 2:00, I headed out to the Magic Castle. First, there were something like 40 checks to peruse and sign. That's always a fun pastime since we have to be sure we have the money to pay them. You would be shocked at the amount of money that runs through our lodge, thanks to the wonderful members who eat, drink and have parties here.
With that done, I headed downstairs to set up. My latest VICTIM ... I mean wonderful volunteer ... was coming to work the infernal machine. I haven't told her about him yet ... I don't want to scare her off. She's handled him very well twice, but you can never trust him.
Never trust the peasants either. Right off the bat we had people complaining about being overcharged. I finally figured out she was hitting a wrong key. FIXED IT! Things went well until she took an hours break for dinner. I didn't say a thing. Not only do I not want the Infernal Machine to scare her off, "I" don't want to scare her off either.
When my sometimes substitute came in and bowed down to her like she was worshipping the Sun in the East .... she MAY have realized what she was in for. Thank goodness she didn't run off screaming. Truly, no one likes this job except me!!
We were very short handed on this night, but with only 98 players, we persisted until the end. That's when the Infernal Machine gave her a piece of his mind. Not only did we not balance, but we didn't count right either. I recounted everything twice, but forgot ten tickets laying out of sight behind the Infernal Machine. He was hiding them ... I KNOW IT.
Sadly, she STILL didn't balance, but at least we were within $6.00. He will do that to you ... let you balance to the penny one day and be $200 off the next.
Only one pitchfork came out when one new player tried to play the old "you didn't give me enough of these" trick. They are counted twice, so there's that. It didn't work ... she called me some names and said she would never return. Good ... because we don't like people who cheat. Another Bingo was in the bag.
I arrived home to find Mr. Jonathan (or Mrs. Jonathan) tearing up the carpet and drapes. He requires a new towel covering every other month. This picture shows his blue under feathers. They look black, but are a very dark blue. Pretty Bird he tells me! Truly, he's a chewing machine!
I hope to be healing up this morning since I ate a chili cheese dog without the bun and am sick as can be once again. I know on occasion they hold food over for the following week ... and I think this was one of those times. I'll have to have little talk with them next week. Maybe I'll bring my own food from now on!!
I have a lunch date today, but as bad as I feel, I think I'll skip the eating part. More on that tomorrow. I hope everyone has a fabulous day!!!
Another successful week! Hopefully your volunteer shows up next week and the pitchforks are kept to a minimum!
ReplyDeleteThat's my thought EVERY week! Though I admit I need a break!
DeleteSo nice you have replacement help on the machine. Gives you a break. Last night sounds like a milder night at Bingo.
ReplyDeleteYour tomatoes looked great.
Sue
It was mostly serene ... which I appreciate every time.
DeleteHope you get to feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteFrances:)
Oh no. I hope you are feeling better today!
ReplyDeleteMuch better today!!!
DeleteHOUR BREAK???? But like you said, don't scare her off....
ReplyDeleteYup I was thinking the same thing ... lol
DeleteYour lunch sounds like a simplified version of Low Carb Crack Slaw recipe
ReplyDeleteWell I haven't heard it called that, but it does describe it perfectly. Super easy with lots of flavor!
DeleteThat meal looks good. Good question about the Mexcian dog medications. Feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI saw Jonathan on the floor and thought 'oh no!' Glad he was just being a little troublemaker.
Served over rice, it's even better ... but I didn't want the carbs.
