Oh how I wish this was me ... snoozing away at the drop of a hat. Alas, it was not to be on this day ... and it was a long one.
It started out in the cool morning air in the garden with wet feet. I forgot the sprinklers had been on when I tromped across the tall grass. That pretty much woke me up. I gazed out over my 10 square feet. It is just so weird that the Early Girl tomatoes have grown to tremendous size and are full of nice GREEN tomatoes.
So far they are refusing to turn red ... and I think we're running out of time ... or not, since I see CACTUS in our forecast. Good grief ... even SCHOOL has started and they are not ripe yet.
What IS ripe are these hot peppers. Yikes!! I haven't looked at them in maybe three days and this is what I found. I sent a message to my neighbor. Want any peppers? She responded ... the hottest thing we put on our food is black pepper. I bagged them up for a trip to the lodge.
I had some drip irrigation to fix in the front yard, but that ended in disaster. While kneeling down trying to replace the line, I discovered the entire section was completely covered in stinging ants. It's so weird that you can't feel them until they BITE. In a flash, my legs and feet were covered in painful welts. The only way to stop that is to scrub the skin off .... OOWEEE! Apparently it's time to call Pest Control. I would use the granules I have, but I'm afraid the local kitties and dogs will eat it, which would not be good.
Though I tried to rest up before the Trustee/Board meeting on this night, it was not to be. I found this free quilt pattern and wrestled with it for almost an hour trying to figure out how to download the FREE directions. Free is not always what it's cracked up to be.
That's when I discovered you had to BUY it, but the price came out ZERO dollars, except now they have my name, my address AND my email address, where I will surely receive MANY unwanted messages.
The rest of the day I went over the financials before heading off to the lodge. More and more problems arose. The reservation phone died, they ordered a new one, which was stolen out of the box before it was delivered. They refuse to replace it until the claim is settled, a couple months from now. Don't you just love phone companies?
The good news is those who complain the most were not present at the meeting on this night. YAY for small favors. The bad news is now I see why so many have quit. This volunteer job has turned into much more than I ever wanted to be involved with.
So the day ended at 10:00 pm ... and I still have not recovered from Bingo night. The best news EVER is the King will return on Monday ... just in time for him to jump back into his Kingship position.
I think I have discovered the WORD OF THE DAY. It's NO ... from now on, it's NO I can't do that, NO I don't have time and NO I'm not going.
Today will be a better day thanks to lots of Cooper cuddles,
Rest if you can kiddo.
