Some days it doesn't pay to get out of bed, but today was NOT that day. YAY!! Even though I felt like I was drug through a knothole backwards, I got up and TRIED to act like I had a great night's sleep. The Nurse from the Elks Lodge tells me melatonin works wonders. I thought they said that stuff would kill you a few years back. Anyone use it?
In the meantime, Cooper and I headed outside to water the tomatoes. Ever since I added more fertilizer and moved them more into the shade, they are growing like hotcakes. They SHOULD be the size of the red ones. The branches are covered with them and there are a hundred new flowers. I can't complain I guess since the flavor is still not bad. Weird to say the least.
I fed the big tomatoes, fed Kitters and fed Cooper before heading out on my errands. First off ... figure out the computer program that's going to print new checks for the company I'm doing books for. Good grief ... could you please make it MORE complicated? It only took me three hours to get ONE printed. I was shooting for FOUR hours. Just when I thought I had it, the check disappeared on the screen. It's a good thing they didn't hear the scream in my head!
With that done, I only had three more things to do. First off, wash my truck. It's been way too long and I really couldn't see out the windshield. The $6.00 wash is now $14.00, $16.00 total since as with everything else, you have to add a tip. For what, I've no idea because it's a drive-through. I guess it's for the girl who stands there and sprays something on your windshield.

From there, I drove right by the Return To Amazon UPS store, my second stop. I have to stop buying from them. These returns are becoming problematic. Completely forgetting about the pile on the front seat next to me, I went straight to the grocery store.
I think everything you buy now is $10.00. 1.5 dozen eggs ... $10.00. Two tubs of butter ... $10.00. Dogge treats ... $10.00. Two cans of kidney beans to make chili ... $10.00. No kidding, it's getting ridiculous. I've been staying away from Walmart because ... well ... it's Walmart, and not exactly a safe place to shop around here, but it's cheap, so there's that.
The good news is my truck is beautiful once again. I could hear her say I'M CLEAN!!!! This is the best thing I ever bought. She's 20 years old, has 150,000 miles on her and still runs like a champ. I think in all those years the only thing I have done is new springs and one wheel bearing. She's pulled loaded horse trailers from Oregon to Mexico and back again many times, and pulled a travel trailer all over Arizona. I love this truck!!
Back home again, I received the parts I ordered for the longarm so I could resume quilting. I'm so surprised they came that quickly. It's just the bobbin holder, along with ten new brand-name bobbins. Yes, it makes a BIG difference.
I scrounged up some scrap fabric, set it all up and tried one small quilting row. OMG it worked like a charm. It was that spring and the bobbin case that has been causing all my problems for the last year.
I grabbed the backing for the quilt and flung it on the floor. Oops ... I never cut and sewed this the correct size. Can you see the problem here? I cut and sewed it about half way when I realized the designs are not going in the same direction. Well that's not good! Jack the Ripper came to my rescue and I tore it all out.
Now sewn the correct way, I pinned it on the longarm. About half way through that process it dawned on me that the pattern was STILL going the wrong way. Sideways in fact. Big sigh! I'm just not paying enough attention to details.
I removed the entire thing and started all over again. Patience grasshopper!!
So here it is, all set up to stitch today. I'll be holding my breath the entire time, praying it works perfectly and stitches correctly.
Dinner was less than spectacular. Sometimes I just don't have the energy nor the appetite to actually cook something. Truly though, I could eat this garlic sourdough every single day of the week!!
Today I'm going to try and magically make those frozen meatballs into chili. I'm never going to eat them if I don't disguise them well enough. No use throwing away another $10.00 purchase I made six months ago!
But first ... Mr. Cooper and I are going out for a walk. Remember, at our age, even a bad day is a good day!!!
