It's 50 degrees this morning, and heating up quite nicely. We are looking at 82 for the next few days, which is surely a dramatic change. I may even have to turn the air on! The good news is I've had no heat and no air for about two weeks now. SCORE!! No electric bill!
Of course the State of California is broker than broke, so now they say they are going to cancel all those solar contracts ... you know, the ones they forced you to sign in order to get the solar they forced you to get! They are now going to charge everyone some crazy amount to bring electricity TO you, as well as pay for the new fire damage in Southern California. They are losing Federal funding for just about everything because they refuse to comply. It's getting dicey in old Cali!
In the meantime, this ...........
turned in to THIS! This picture is straight out of my phone. I just can't believe the colors of these beauties. Sadly, they don't last long, but boy are they gorgeous!
My diet is going as well as can be expected. I actually read up on what I SHOULD be doing versus what I WAS doing. Sixteen hours without eating isn't bad at all since I'm asleep most of the time, or at least TRYING to sleep. This morning I was rollerskating outside on the concrete before being commandeered to drive to Brazil, to a casino where they were killing off folks right and left. Yeah, that's a new one on me! I'm pretty sure that is caused by not eating.
So now I'm off food for 16 hours, then back on for the next 8, eating when I'm hungry, but no carbs allowed. I guess I won't be eating that little bag of stale popcorn after all. I'll let you know how THIS goes!!
This is what I did most of yesterday. It's SO true, because already I couldn't find the cord to the vacuum cleaner or that quilt pattern I had in my hands yesterday.
After picking up stuff everywhere, I watched a little telly until time to hit the road for an Elks Board meeting. It's a new year with new people who are not familiar with the process. I went to present the budget, but got lambasted because they didn't get to see it first. Well there was a meeting ........... but no one attended, so there's that.
A lot of loud hassling went on, which makes me question why in the world I do this, other than I'd rather they yell at me and not the bookkeeper. Can't we just be adults? It seems that's becoming a lost trait. The budget passed, things were discussed and I was out the door in a flash. Actually I was trying to bypass the very nice gentleman who wanted me to work Kiddieland, where we bring 1000 kids (kindergarten to 2nd grade) to our tiny little amusement park, to the tiny little zoo, then feed them all. I literally snuck out the back door!!
Back home I was greeted with lots of barks and puppy kisses. That makes all the nonsense go away. We watched a bit of rodeo before heading off to sleep. There really wasn't much sleeping, as I was too riled up.
Today, if I can get my act together, I'll hit up Costco for some supplies. Salmon, roast chicken of course, and eggs. I will close my eyes and hold my nose when I go by the bakery!!!!
Mr. Ed said there a lot of things you can eat if you wanna go out to eat, go find a Chinese restaurant they’re cheap$ (and not panda )and get a vegetable dish With no rice no chicken, no meat no beef just vegetables. Fresh fruit .Yogurt. Cottage cheese,( limited) granola bars. protein drink (yuck) But they do work, non-carbonated drinks (Orange juice, apple juice, grape juice) so you see, there’s no sense in starving yourself, because after you start eating you wanna eat more to make up for it . When you eat and wanna lose practice the art of pushing food away. Think of food like chocolate if you have a little piece, you tasted it , you don’t need to eat the whole bar. You’ve tripped that trigger You satisfy that craving move on.
ReplyDeleteLess carbs, more meat. I think those juices have more sugar than the candy bar!! lol
DeleteHave a happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteFrances:)
You too Frances. Hope all is going well with you.
DeleteI try to limit the carbs as much as possible, but they seem to hide everywhere. Was in Costco the other day and let a picture of some really good looking stir fry cause the box to jump into my cart. I think because the picture looked so darn good, I didn't look on the back of the package to see the carbs. When I got home and finally took a look, well, not going to be eating that after all. One little serving, 84 carbs, more than a days worth at least. The younger neighbor who works hard and needs the carbs will be getting that.
ReplyDeleteI did find a bread that claims to have 0 carbs, and really does taste a little like bread. Not sourdough, but passable. It is called Hero, and you usually find it in the refrigerated section of the market. A little pricy, but it makes REALLY GOOD toasted cheese sandwiches, and sops up a little gravy now and then, too. If you can't find Hero locally (can be hard to find) Amazon of course has it.
I have made the same Costco bad choices. I haven't heard of Hero bread, but I'll look for it. Thanks!!
DeleteAre you kidding me, 16 hours without food and then going shopping for food at Costco? I always said Costco stands for Cost you! Let us know how it went.
ReplyDeleteI was testing my fortitude. Surprisingly I did okay.
DeleteWhat Marlene said...lol
ReplyDeleteRight? Actually I was pretty focused in on meat.
DeleteI agree with Marlene too. Going without food just makes me hungrier for when I do eat. Now if you ate a lot of good fats in the 'last' meal you wouldn't feel hungry.
ReplyDeleteThat's what I've been trying to do. It's hard to go carb free. Absolutely EVERYTHING has carbs!!
DeleteI am trying the same diet. Have lost over 15 lbs. Figures it would circle the internet when eggs are $10. It's all about the carbs & the sugar, which the carbs also turn into. All that processed crap we eat, not good. We need clean, simple ingredients. Real butter. Fats. We have been lied to about cholesterol. It's what our brains run on. The link below has been a help. I add vanilla, cinnamon and nutmeg. I also make it savory (I hate that word) with brocolli florets, cut small, and cheddar cheese. Started cooking sausage in the oven on a pie plate/parchment while this cooks. Easy & good. Use full fat Greek yogurt. Yes, really.

Sorry, came back to talk pan size. I use a 8x8" square for 4 servings or a bread pan for 2 servings, half the recipe. Fruit one is good cold, brocolli and cheddar I reheat low & slow, covered, on the stove
