DE-TER-MINED ... Having Made A Firm Decision

Let's be real here ... it's probably more like being stubborn as a mule.  I paid big bucks for this darn watch and I wasn't ABOUT to give up without a fight.  After a lot more research, I found there was one more update.  Seems it doesn't update the LATEST, but the NEXT one.  There was one to go, so I went back to the Elks Lodge with the resolve of a twenty mule team.  This time I took a little reading material

I plugged in at 11:00 and ordered lunch.  Wish I had pictures of the beautiful patty melt and onion rings I ordered, but when I tried, it put the download on pause.  It took me ten minutes to get it back up and going.

It was surprisingly busy this day as they turned on the TV to hear our Governor's latest edict.  You should have heard the laughter!!  He really thinks he's going to put most, if not all of California, on a 21 day lockdown, meaning no one can travel to be with their families on Christmas.  What a joke he is.  Of course HE will be traveling to HIS family's place in Napa, you can guarantee it.  Anyway, we all had a good laugh and shut him down after five minutes.

My phone said 18 hours for download.  Oh good grief, or similar words that would get my mouth washed out with soap.  I started on my sandwich.  Every time I checked the progress, it would jump forward and lose a couple of hours.

By the time it was halfway, only an hour had passed.  Whoa ... this is going much faster than before.

I tried to think good thoughts.  Finally the download was done ... now for the "preparing", then the "verifying" and lastly the download to the watch.  Then it crashed.  NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!  I waited and waited, but it was apparently locked up.

I shut everything down and proceeded to set up the watch.  Hey maybe .... just maybe ..... it's going to work.  At last I got a very weird watch face and a time.  That was good enough for me.  IT'S WORKING!!!  Only 3-1/2 hours ... woohoo!

I literally spent the rest of the day and into the night re-programming everything.  Sadly, they have taken away some of the choices I had.  It will take me days to get everything straight, but WE HAVE A WATCH!!!

Persistence and determination prevailed ... really it's just being stubborn!!

With that accomplished, I'm now back to preparing the rig for a trip south.  As you can see, the temperatures here have warmed up enough to allow for outdoor work.  Oh Boy!!!

I was finally able to open the lock on the RV door late one afternoon.  Apparently the really cold temperatures freeze the lock so it won't UN-lock.  That's not good!!!  I did have Lazy Days fix it, but you know how that goes.  It worked until the weather got cold again.  So now I'm on the hunt for a small heater to keep by the door when it's freezing.

In the meantime, I'm repairing six drip sprinklers the gardeners chopped in half.  Not really, there's that stubbornness again ... I'm making a list .. and checking it twice ..  for the gardener to fix

  2. Yeah what an idiot governor! A special friend is so depressed as he is losing his job once again I'm worried for him. You certainly have more patience than I would, congrats! I was reading another blog and she said that Tucson is a mask city. She saw not one person without one! Good luck.

    1. Tucson is doing the same thing, curfew and all. I seriously doubt the police have time for that nonsense when they can't even get through their 911 calls in one night.

  3. It's about time you got that thing working. The joys of electronics is making us all crazy.
Mechanics have found a new use for Hand Sanitizer. Apply a lite coating on your key and it will open frozen locks.
Since the Gardener cut those lines he should repair them at his cost. That's why they have liability insurances.
Be Safe and Enjoy heading south.

    It's about time.

  4. Yay, don't give up, that's a great motto!
Glad the watch is working for you.
Christmas is about love and family and 'living', isn't it? I hate that we are all being told we can't be with our loved ones. Life is too short!

    1. Trouble is, so many people are doing exactly what they are told. Remember get on the train?

  5. Now that you know what time it is, you can be so fortunate to be able to travel with your rig. We here in Ontario Canada are sitting duck and it has nothing to do with self isolating as that we could do anywhere.

    1. Truly, everywhere you want to go, you are in snow. Although they say I can't travel, that will not keep me here when it's time to move.

  6. Now one night stays in campgrounds and RV parks are banned. Good thing we arrive in Pismo Beach today for a four month stay. Hope we don't get booted out before then.

    1. They say that, but if you pull into an RV park, they take your money and let you park. They are not about to go out of business. I have called a couple and they said come on in.

  7. As an Apple user I thought you realized that .. You have to start from step 2 3 etc. you can’t jump to 7. 8 and 10 when you’re uploading your watch and your computer should have Been set to upload any updates at midnight automatically
Will you start to download the updates and it says 23 hours that’s because At the time that it logged in it doesn’t know how fast your upload speed is the faster the upload speed the last time it takes to load the update
Now one of the thing you’re an Apple user so it doesn’t affect you quite as bad but Google Chrome which a lot of people use on Apple and android or PC is making a drastic change a lot of your app will not work so you need to do diligence and check out which ones are going to go south. And it’s all because of the operating system from Microsoft 10 updates.
If you’re an Apple user don’t feel too bad Apple systems is also having issues you’ll see more updates coming up soon but their info only says its going to correct about 75% of the issues

    2. I do usually get updates at night, but my WiFi service is so terrible, it's just not happening. Everyone around me is in the same boat.

    1. I don't use either, but I have heard of problems. That's kind of what started this. One of my banking apps, instead of making it usable by all the updates, it would only work with the last one, meaning EVERYONE had to update, not just me.
