We All Scream For Ice Cream!!

Good Morning from foggy California once again.  My crazy rain dancing has not resulted in anything but foggy morning fog.  It's hard to get things going when you look out and just see cold.

Same goes for Mr. Cooper.  Once I sit down, he snuggles up and goes straight to la-la-land.

This one however ... is always into trouble with capital T.  Right now she's trying to get into the cupboards in the quilting room behind me.  This was her yesterday, looking all innocent.  This was BEFORE she shoved most all of this stuff off the table onto the floor.

This morning she went to scratching on THIS chair ... so I moved the scratching post over to this side of the room, thinking maybe she didn't have enough room behind the other one.  We'll see how that goes, but I have a feeling it won't last.  What is up with CATS?  Always into TROUBLE!!

First things first ... after checking my credit card that only has three automatic payments on it every month, I discovered my Photoshop program was now $14.99 a month, versus the GUARANTEED $9.99 a month for LIFE.

Of course I called, thinking I would get someone from India who didn't speak English.  What I got was an Australian accent.  Woohoo!!  I still couldn't understand him very well, but hey ... I can't turn down an accent like THAT!

Apparently they are short of money.  Here's the deal.  It's still $9.99 a month, but ONLY if you pay for one year at a time.  They always figure out a way to SCREW YOU!  Sorry, but I wasn't very happy about this.  I use that program a lot, which of course they KNOW, so they figure out ways to get your money faster.  I really don't want to be taking all my pictures with my phone instead of my expensive camera.  And so I caved and paid it for one year.

That's when I asked where he was from.  BELFAST he said.  WHAT?  He asked if I had ever been there.  Nope ... never been to Europe.  Went to China twice, Costa Rica, everywhere Mexico, Cancun and Mazatlan diving ... but never Europe.  Probably not a good idea now anyway, since they control everything you say online ... for which you can go to jail.  Next time I have to call Photoshop, I'm asking for the BELFAST accent!!

I spent the next two hours with this.  Anyone know what it is?  Patty Chance does.  We used to use this thing so much that I have TWO of them.  It's an ice cream machine.  I don't know what prompted me to drag it out of the far reaches of the cupboard, but drag it I did.

If you have ever read the ingredients on an ice cream box, you will know why, not to mention it's cheaper.  This particular variety I made has milk, cream, vanilla and sugar.  Of course I added candy to it ... I mean what's ice cream without CANDY!  The best part?  When it's done, you get to lick the bowl.  But use a spoon, because this thing will attach your tongue to the bowl in a millisecond.

I put it in small single serving containers and stuck it in the fridge.  YUM YUM!!!  This one has toffee pieces.  I admit, it's not quite as creamy as regular ice cream, but it's cheaper and better for you.  Next up ... BUTTER PECAN ... and my all time favorite COFFEE with toffee.

After that, I figured I needed to burn off some of that cream, so I went out for a walk.  That lasted half a mile before I returned and grabbed my bike instead.  No worries, I was able to save it when I looked over my shoulder and almost smashed into that mail box.  Note to self ... get a rear view mirror.  Looking over ones shoulder when your balance isn't great yet, is NOT a good idea.

I spent the rest of the afternoon working on this quilt.  See what I mean by I can't pick fabric colors?  It's awful!!  It's so bright and LOUD that you need sunglasses.  I haven't sewn the last border on yet because I don't like it one little bit, even after spending an hour cutting out pieces the long way so I didn't have to piece the border.  Maybe a white border would be better ... I don't know, but I really do NOT like it now.

Maybe I should call up Belfast for his opinion ... at least I could hear that accent again!!

And so my friends ... another whole month has gone by.  January just flashed by like a comet.  Maybe a nice bowl of homemade ice cream will make me feel better about that!!

Thanks for stopping by .........

OH LOOK ... A PRESENT!!

There's no use telling you what the weather is like, because you already know.  Cold with a lot of wet fog.  I really wasn't gung-ho to be getting up since I had an accounting appointment.  It doesn't help when you-know-who wants in and out, in and out.  Last night Kitters insisted on going out into the foggy night.  At 2:00 am she was knocking on the bedroom door.  At 3:00 she was knocking to get OUT!  At 3:30, she wanted back in.  This is not going well for MOI!

Just for kicks, I wanted to show you the lights I got for the back yard, which I admired every time I opened the door.  These are the ones Ray and Cindy have in Yuma, though theirs stand out much more because they have actual REAL light poles that illuminate them a bit more.

These are just stuck in the flower beds ... and it's pretty dark outside.  They are all solar and look like tiki lights that flicker.  Of course when it's foggy all day, they don't work so well.  Come summer, they will be VERY cool looking.

Right off the bat, while still sipping my coffee, this kid pulled this heavy drawer out and crawled inside, after pulling most of the stuff out and dropping it unceremoniously on the floor.  Thank you for the mess I now have to clean up.  I had forgotten much of what I knew about kitties.  Outside she went.

Soon after, I heard the MEOWWWW.  Boy do I remember THAT tone of voice from my Mom's siamese kitty.  OH LOOK ... A PRESENT!  It's a darn good thing I saw that before I opened the door wide enough to let her in.

Just a few minutes earlier, I saw a big hole by the fence.  She was on TOP of the fence looking down as I covered it up.  Apparently she went back out and somehow caught this gopher.  SO PROUD SHE WAS!!  Yes that's lovely, but no thank you!  I tried to take it away, but she was having none of it.  I finally distracted her, grabbed it quickly and tossed it in the trash.  She might have eaten it ... but that would mean I had to clean up the guts on the back step when she threw it up.  Sorry for the visual!!

I had forgotten all the times the siamese brought in rats, mice and snakes, to throw them against the wall in the hallway ... SO PROUD!

Time for bookkeeping.  When I called the main office, I hoped no one would answer.  They did ... so off I trekked for three hours of trying to manage so many accounts and sort out which could be combined.  It's daunting ... especially when I discovered several vehicles on the property were not currently registered.  YIKES!!  Truly, I am not looking for work ... I'm RETIRED.  I started making phone calls to see who might want a new well paid job.

When I got back home, I decided to try another one of those viral recipes from the internet.  Big mistake ... BIG.  Here it is ... cake mix, pudding, milk, chocolate chips and peanut butter cups.  Bake for 35 minutes.

Wasn't I shocked when I opened the oven at the BEEP to smell BURNT CHOCOLATE.  Big sigh!  Yessiree ... burned black as could be on the bottom!!  I think 25 minutes would have been just fine (and yes, my oven temp was correct).

I scraped off the top for a taste.  Meh ... it was okay, but nothing special, and not near as good as plain old box-made brownies.  Forget the cake mix part.  Half of it went in the trash.  Viral videos my foot!!  Or maybe THEIR oven is off!

So let's try another one!!  This is a surprise though ... I'll let you know tomorrow whether it worked or not.  It's been a long time since I made this one!!

Kitters is being a pain this morning, knocking everything off my quilting table.  What is it with CATS??  Mr. Cooper is never a problem ... mostly anyway.

For my last trick ... I'll explain tomorrow ... I get to speak to someone in a foreign country about a charge on my credit card.  That should be FUN!!!  Hey, I'd rather do that than get a dead gopher present!!

TWO DAYS, FOUR MILES

Early mornings always look like the threat of fog is gone, but Mother Nature is only fooling us.  Even with cloud cover, the fog rolls in like a cold blanket.  As Elva pointed out, there was a bad accident just out of Bakersfield on my exact route back to Quartzsite.  I'm glad I decided to stay home.

I have to admit though ... being at home this long means I'm searching for things to keep me occupied.  There's absolutely nothing on television, so let's see what kind of trouble we can get into outside.

First, I headed out for another walk.  No kidding ... my entire being feels better when I exercise.  This time the streets were empty, so I got in almost TWO miles.  That makes four miles in two days.  No worries, that won't continue, I'm sure.

First, my hot tub needed to be drained.  It's been sitting here gathering more and more water every day until it was half full.  I would have used the bucket brigade, but turns out there was only one bucket.  When I got it down far enough, I turned the tank over.  Love the reflection of the trees on the patio.

I let the kids out early to smell the grass since the gardener was coming this morning.  He's been slacking, I suppose because it's been so cold.  Nothing at all has been done in any of the flower beds.  Why do they think those are not part of the job?  It happens with all of them!!  I spent an hour pulling weeds.  I would spray, but it's been just windy enough I would probably kill half the lawn.

Back inside, check out Kitters ears.  She is not the least bit happy with the gardener either.  He makes lots of scary noises.  I have to give her credit though ... she's smart enough to be out in the sun during the day, but always wants in at night.  She hasn't been in the Kitty House in ages, possibly because she has gained so much weight she barely fits!!

When the sun came out, I grabbed my grocery list, but only got as far as the door.  Ordering online and just driving up to retrieve it has become my go to.  I mean really, you don't have to dress up, fix your hair or even wear makeup, not to mention not having to check yourself out.  I'm not nearly as scary looking as the guys they have bringing your order out.

LOOKY HERE!!  Maxwell house is making coffee again.  Not my favorite flavor, but it's what I have been drinking for the last year.  I bought ten cans.  I also bought the supplies to make my OWN Orange Cafe with the recipe Frances gave me.  Even though it's half sugar, it's probably better for me anyway.  It's scary when you read the ingredients in THIS stuff!!  What can I say, I'm addicted to sugar!

On the other hand, this has MUCH less sugar than the Hills Brothers stuff, not to mention the cup was greasy when I went to wash it out.  Why oh why is it greasy???  What does Hills Brothers put in there?

I worked on the quilt for awhile, but my enthusiasm has waned.  I got the row torn apart and the three new blocks made.  Maybe I'll sew it together today and begin work on the borders.

That's when I remembered to check the battery thingy.  OH LOOK ... SUN!!  It felt SO GOOD!!!

One quick look and I knew I was in trouble.  RED LIGHT!!  Rats ... I am just having no luck with this battery problem.  In order to get the hot post connected, you have to turn and push on a plastic piece to make the post visible.  Once you hook up, you let go of the plastic piece, very slowly, and it puts pressure on the clip.  Apparently it doesn't like that.  I reset the hot wire and plugged it in again.  OK was lit up and it was charging once again.

Maybe I'll check the voltage and just turn it off.  Sure enough, it read 13.2, so I unplugged the unit.  I'll retest it in a few days and see how it's holding up.  I thought I might take out the spring as others have done and cut off a tiny piece so it doesn't put quite as much pressure on the clamp.  On the other hand, since I've no idea what I'm doing, I would probably mess that up considerably.

What I DIDN'T mess up was dinner.  This was the last container of my homemade and homegrown tomato sauce with a lot of extra spices thrown in for flavor.

Dinner ... on a way too small dessert plate ... was yummy.  Garlic cheese bread and spaghetti with parm.  YUM YUM!!

By the way, you may remember that Cindy and Ray from Yuma, make everything freeze dried.  Cindy gave me a big mason jar of spaghetti that I'm going to try this weekend to celebrate my last vacation days before Bingo starts back up.  My replacement has called me every week for the last three weeks about when I will return.  I'm thinking I may not have a replacement any more.

The kids and I will be ON THE COUCH for a couple hours anyway, since I'll be back to accounting work later this morning.

More Than I EVER Wanted To Know

Foggy California got a little bit sunnier yesterday, though the forecast calls for clouds for seven days.  Hey, it's better than cold wet fog!!  It will even increase our temperatures to a high of 60.  WOOHOO!!

Here's my body guards on morning service.  That black blob to the right is Kitters.  They both sit, or rather lay there until I've finished the blog.  Good company, these kids.

When I start breakfast, Kitters moves to the chair.  Not that she sleeps ... she just lays there with one eye open.  You can't move around without her having one eye on you.  I guess that's from sleeping outside with the night critters.  I hear tell the foxy kids are still hanging out on occasion, but they don't come here any more since the house behind me was built.  Another reason not to like neighbors!!

Breakfast was quite tasty.  Corn tortillas (I'm trying to use them up) smothered in cheese, bacon and egg.  You can't beat that with a stick!!

Amazon is still delivering things here and there.  It's my contribution to the workforce.  Without all my orders, just imagine how many people would be out of work.  I have to admit though ... their faces change about every two weeks.  You never get the same guy more than three times.

Here's one that perplexes me.  You can go to the little town of Kingsburg (too far south to drive) and buy these wonderful cookies in the exact same tin.  HOWEVER, they are all in one piece.  If you order this tin from Amazon, and I'm not sure exactly where they come from, you get THIS.

So someone goes to the factory, buys up all the scraps and broken pieces and dumps them in the same tin and ships them to you.  It does not say they are the crumbs.  The first time I was really mad, but they could not be returned.  THIS time I decided maybe I was ahead of the game since I got more in the can because of their smaller size.  Yes, the cookies weigh more than the can says.  It's better for me anyway, since I won't eat four whole cookies at a time .... I only grab the crumbs of ONE!!  There's logic for you!!

I truly did not want to go there with this purchase, but getting up at 3:00 am isn't going to hack it.  So just what kind of litter do you buy?  I ordered one bag and it's a 40 pounder.  Good grief ... who can lift this stuff??

I filled the bottom and stuck it in the spare bathroom.  I put Kitters in it once, whereupon she whirled around throwing litter everywhere and jumped OVER ME to get out.  Oh yes ... this is working out splendidly!!  I once again let her out at 3:00.  Her clock is never late.

Lunch was leftover enchilada casserole.  Boy do I love that stuff.  Once again ... another Amazon order.  If I order four things, they will deliver two at a time, for two trips a day.  No one said they were efficient in California.

THIS time it was the battery maintainer I ordered that said it would be delivered the next day.  Four days later, here it is.  That's okay ... I went straight to work.

OH BUT WAIT!  The two clips are too close together to reach from the hot to the ground.  The red is the hot and the ground is way off to the right ... about two feet away.  How can you find something to ground to when absolutely EVERYTHING is plastic?

I finally called Dan and sent him a picture.  He said to just plug it in and see if the thing turned on.  I was waiting for sparks to fly, but YAY the orange ON light lit up.  It's a trickle charger, so we shall see how long it takes to fill it up.  I think the batteries were at about 12.4.

If this works, when the light turns green, I will unplug it for a few days and then check the voltage again.  This is more than I EVER wanted to know about batteries and charging them.

I'm positive that I was very achy from sitting WAY too long, so I headed out for a nice long walk.  Things went south quickly.  At the far end was the Garden Trimming Crew who accosted me last week when I walked by and they asked about any work I might have for them.  I turned around and headed back ... I'll walk further the other direction.

YIKES ... at the other end was the last gardener I fired.  Oh that's not good ... I don't want to walk down there.  So instead, I walked half a block, turned, walked half a block, turned and continued for 30 minutes.  Obviously, I'm not one for confrontation!!

Back home I began sewing the blocks together.  But something bothered me.  Doesn't it look too dark at the bottom right?  I grabbed the placement chart and went block by block.  OH GOOD GRIEF!!  Something is wrong.  That last row should be different colors.

Nancy was not a happy camper.  I went through the pattern one step at a time and discovered they made a mistake for the Throw Size.  They switched the number of squares for each color.  I tried over and over to arrange them where that mistake didn't show, but there was no way it was happening.

BIG SIGH!  and maybe a few bad words.  Lucky for me I have plenty of fabric to make three more squares for the bottom so the pattern will be correct.  Leave it to me to pick up a pattern with a mistake in it.  Had I caught it sooner, I might have made the correction BEFORE I have to rip apart five squares. and replace three of them.

By the way, since it's tax time ... here's my tip of the day.  ALL of your social security is NOT TAX FREE.  It all depends on how much money you make.  I worked so hard to get a good job with a great retirement and my penalty for that is paying taxes on 90% of that social security money, in SPITE of what the government is telling you.

ALSO ... be aware of them telling you they are REDUCING YOUR TAX DEDUCTIONS so you will have more money to spend.  Sounds good, but it's lying in my book.  What they do is reduce the DEDUCTIONS from your checks, but you still have to pay the same amount of TAXES at year end.  That means you have to either save more for paying your taxes, or float a loan to pay for them.  Just a heads up on that one for next year!

I won't even go into the no tax on overtime!!

And so ends another day.  I'll be on the patio with the kids, waiting for the sun to make its appearance!!

FIXED IT!! OR NOT .....

It's a perfect 39 degrees this morning in foggy California.  Maybe SOME day, we shall see the sun again.  Even my kids are complaining now.  All they want to do is cuddle up, or at the very least, follow me around the house.  I open the door and they look at me like WHAT?  YOU WANT US TO GO WHERE?

It may have been a big mistake to let Kitters inside.  I'm a softy ... and she's a good manipulator.  She's even better at begging for food.  I let her out at night and went to bed, only to hear her scratching at the door.  Yes, I let her back in.  Make up your mind!!!

Last night she was a BAD KITTY.  At 2:00 she wanted out.  From now on, the bedroom door is off limits ... and LOCKED.  An hour later she was scratching at the doggy door wanting in.  I just LOVE waking up at 2 am don't ya know!  I'm sure WARM has something to do with it.

By 8:00 it was foggy once again.  An hour later I couldn't see this tree.  Truly, I have to get out of the house.  These foggy do-nothing days are starting to get to me.  My bones and muscles are achy.

I sewed for awhile, getting four of the rows put together, before you know who wanted outside again.  WOW!!  WHAT IS THIS?  The sun was out!  What a shock!  We all went out and sat on the patio for 30 minutes, soaking up the warm.  Kitters just rolled around on the concrete.

Time to get SOMETHING done.  This light had burned out ... one of three on the garage.  I drug out the ladder and climbed up to find the bulb had split down the side.  I've never seen that happen before.  I gently unscrewed it and replaced it with another.  FIXED IT!

I'm not sure how long it will last because it is not an "outside" bulb.  I haven't been able to find any for outdoor use.

Since I had the ladder out, I drug it all the way around to the far end of the garage.  This gutter has been dripping for ages.  NOT GOOD.  I had even purchased a cartridge of goop to fill in the holes.  UH OH ... really bad news.  The facing has dry rot, or wet rot as the case may be.  Big sigh.

I got out the goop, crawled to the very tippy top of the ladder and tried to clean and dry the gutter.  I put a big wad of goop down, but it absolutely would NOT stick to the gutter itself.  I'm sure it was just too damp.  RATS!  Here's one I could NOT FIX.

That's when I heard it ... meow ... MEOW!  Kitters, is that you?  Where are you?  A 30 minute search ensued before I finally went to put the ladder away and found her locked in the garage.  Curiosity will get you in trouble little girl!

Finding someone to repair this around here will be difficult, not to mention mucho expensive.  I guess it has to be done however, which is why a trip to the Elks Lodge will be forthcoming.  I'm hoping someone there can either repair it, or recommend some who can.

That put the kibosh on my entire day.  It's not uplifting when you find out you just can't fix everything!!  Maybe food will help.  And so I whipped up an enchilada casserole for dinner.  At least I ended the day with a success!!  It was delicious!

It's Bingo Tuesday and I'm beaming from ear to ear.  I'm NOT going.  On the other hand, it's my last free day since my stand-in cannot be there for the next three weeks.

Next up ... my battery charger should be delivered today.  That will be my next challenge!!

WHY CAN'T I FIND IT?

Saint Anthony Saint Anthony ... please come around.  Something's been lost and can't be found.

Ever heard of that one?  Saint Anthony and I have become VERY good friends lately.  I consider myself very lucky that he always answers my prayers ... except one.

So here we are in the "couch" position, snuggling up, when I realized I had not washed the white tuxedo shirt that was laying on the floor in the laundry room.  Funny how those things just pop into your mind.  I went in search of a load of whites, only to find there was NO shirt by the washer.  I KNOW it's here somewhere!  Saint Anthony .... HELP!

Well it took a few minutes to realize I had gone through a cupboard full of really old, stained towels and washcloths.  Once a big pile was accumulated, I threw them in the garbage can.  NO ... NOOOO Nancy, you did NOT throw that fancy shirt away, did you?  Outside I ran, threw open the lid and there on the bottom was my USED TO BE white shirt.  OH the pain!!  Luckily I think it can be resurrected!

In the meantime, it gets worse!  While Kitters slept on the OTHER chair, I went to look for the quilt tablet email.  Somehow, some way, all my saved emails got deleted.  THERE'S NO WAY!  They MUST be here somewhere.  Saint Anthony ... Saint Anthony .... HELP!!

This time however, there was no help forthcoming.  No matter what I did or how many times I hit the RESTORE EMAIL button, they were gone forever!  I'm sad ... they had important information in them I was saving.  I'm praying it's not a sign of things to come!!

Unfortunately, praying to Saint Anthony did absolutely NOTHING for my coffee predicament.  Maxwell house is out of business and not making it any more.  So here's my substitution that's on the chopping block today.  I'm trying the White Chocolate Caramel.  Let me just say actual COFFEE is about #10 on the list of ingredients.  What's first?  Why sugar of course.

I'm thinking this one won't be around long, even if it is only $4-something for a 16 oz can.  The taste test ... it doesn't even have ANY coffee flavor.  In fact, it tastes like warm milk with sugar.  Yucky Poo!!  Hopefully the English Toffee one will be a little better.

Or maybe I just need to drink it while eating THESE!  Ever walk down an aisle and say ... I think I'll try THAT one!  The batter was like glue and hard to get in the muffin tin, but I was not to be deterred.

I even whipped up some brown sugar butter topping that was NOT in the recipe.  Here's the test ... you fill the cups to the top, bake at 425 for 7 minutes, then turn it down to 350 for the remaining 11 minutes in order to get that beautiful Costco-Muffin top.

Unfortunately for me, I forgot the all important let-it-rest for 15 minutes part.  They actually did come out quite well for an experiment ... and they taste AMAZING.  I mean really, anything Kursteaz always turns out good!!  I'll be buying more of these!

While waiting for the football games to begin, I decided to test out the shelf theory before spending money on the actual shelf.  Here's a piece of wood from the garage, 47 inches long.  I measured the shelf area and need a piece 51 inches.

You can see the problem ... Instead of building the shelf even with the fridge, they built it back against the wall.  The fridge is a built-in .. so there's no moving it out of the way ... and no way a board will swing wide enough to get in the cupboard.  SO ... I guess I'm going to get more metal shelves in order to double the space.  What a let down!!

If I was real ambitious, which I'm not, I could cut it in two and add heavy leg supports in the middle, but you know that is not going to happen.

On to football!  I have no dog in these fights for either game, though it was fun to watch them play in the snow.  Both games were excellent and hard fought.  I guess the Patriots are going to play the Seahawks in the Super Bowl.  I might even skip it altogether this year.  On the other hand, my popcorn and Dots Pretzels were yummy!!

In between games, I sewed here and there.  Green is just not my color, nor has it ever been, but I thought this was a cute Christmas quilt.  I finally figured out which way to turn the blocks so the folded ribbon looked right.  I still have to stitch the blocks together and add borders.  It does look better in person.

And so another weekend disappears as Funday Monday arrives.  Outside this morning I'm sure I saw a beautiful star in the sky.  YAY ... no fog today!

Oh wait ... it was moving.  DARN ... a low flying airplane!  The forecast does say Mostly Sunny, so maybe we'll see the sun for a few minutes!  Hopefully I will be able to find THAT!!

MY GO-TO STORE

It is a lovely 45 degrees this morning.  It's funny how just 4-5 degrees can make such a difference.  Or maybe it's because TODAY we don't have fog!!  Yoohoo!  Instead, we have cloud cover ... all day long.  California is definitely losing its sunny disposition!

I knew I was heading out to the store on this day, so I was ready very early.  It's Saturday ... Jammy Walmart Day.  Instead, I was at the Dollar Tree door at 8:03 am.  At least you don't see jammies in here, or maybe just not as often.  I grabbed a cart and went aisle by aisle.

I was actually surprised that I found this much!  Thick $5.00 notebooks (not really visible) were $1.25 because now it's the $1.25 store.  I even found those two little bottles of laundry detergent, perfect for the van.

BUT WAIT ... they have a freezer section!!  OMG Klondike Bars for $4.00.  I think these are $9.00 at the regular store.  Of course I check the date on everything, and all the food products were good until 2027.  This has become my new GO-TO store.

As for the thermostat and the house heat ... just ask anyone who uses a smoker for ribs ... I had three thermometers to choose from for testing the temperature in the house.  It finally got up to 70 degrees and I was WARM as toast.  I'm thinking I need a new thermostat however, since it ran most of the night, and even though it was set at 67 degrees, it was 71 this morning.  That Nest thing sure didn't last long ... it's only been installed since May.

Kitters was happy with it however.  She is definitely female ... she can't make up her mind whether she wants in or out.  She's eating, but not as much as she used to, so maybe there is a better kitchen on the block.  She does tend to want in and sleep most of the day inside, but I can't move an inch or she wakes up and follows me.  At least she waited until 4:00 to go out this morning.  Cooper and I appreciated that.

Lunch was that crappy pizza.  I have to admit though ... air frying anything makes it taste 100% better.  I stuck this in for 4 minutes and it came out quite tasty!!  Okay, it's not really that good, but I paid for it and I'm eating it.

Once again, I spent most of the day sewing, only because I thought there was a football game on, which turns out is on today.  Doesn't this messy view just make you crazy?  Me too!!  I'm just not that great at organization I guess, and I have two quilts going at once, so there's that.  It doesn't help that Kitters wants to be sitting close and knocks everything off on the floor.  Mr. Cooper ... he lays on the floor just behind the chair, watching out for dinosaurs and bad guys.  He's pretty good at that job because I haven't been attacked yet.

So here's the quilt thus far.  There are two different colors of green, but they are too much alike to really see that it is supposed to look like twisted ribbon.  I spent an hour in the store looking for a better matching green, but they just didn't have anything.  It is what it is ... a perfect quilt to bring out once a year for Christmas.  Nine more blocks and I can stitch them together.  This is why I always try to buy kits.  Those folks know how to choose colors and have access to SO much more fabric than I.

It was a pretty boring day as days go.  I'm not sure what's going on next door, but there was lots of door slamming at midnight and two new vehicles parked out front.  I think the owner's kids have moved in.  Luckily I was awake, because at 4 am there was again lots of door slamming, loud talking and reving engines.  Courtesy is a thing of the past.  Or maybe I need to go live on a mountain top somewhere.

I had a quick dinner of chicken pot pie without the pie ... or the biscuit because I didn't have any.  It could definitely use a little more sauce!!

I made up for it with a lovely Klondike bar for dessert.  From now on, I'm going to Dollar Tree for ice cream.  They also had Breyers, but the B in Breyers stands for BAD.  These babies are DELICIOUS!!

Today is finally Football Playoff day to see who goes to the Super Bowl.  None of them are MY teams, but I'm watching it anyway.  After all, I have stacks of snacks just for the occasion.  Those Dots pretzels I got last week are going to be perfect for game watching.  I'm sure Cooper and Kitters will appreciate a day off from guard duty because I will be glued to the couch the entire time.  Bye for now ........
