It was a cold dreary morning, as the rain fell from the sky, soaking everything to the core. The muddy footprints were visible on the kitchen floor. As she walked ever so quietly down the hall, fearful of what she might find, she heard it. The frenzied barking of Mr. Cooper, so happy to see her home!
Yup ... survived another meeting night at the lodge. More like a meeting DAY. But first, let's check out the van one more time while packing things like leveling blocks. Rarely will I need them because the fridge does not have to remain perfectly level, but you never know. Poor baby really needs a bath, but that requires much more energy than I had on this day.
I really did fall down on the job today. There was truly no reason to take pictures at all. I got a very early call in the morning. I heard "I'm sick with the flu ... BAD ... and I can't get the reports done". Uh oh, that means four unhappy Board Members at our lodge meeting.
While contemplating that, I did NOT fall down on the job while gathering clothes for this trip. This looks like a LOT ... and it is. There's no way all of this is going to fit in the van. I'm going to have to get creative. I mean really, how in the world do COUPLES live in these things for months at a time with no room for clothes? I think I need a class in creative clothes folding. Fewer shirts and jeans means MORE laundry, and you already know I don't want to go there.
Break time ... we are now up to Round Eight of the National Finals Rodeo. If you win the round (depending on which event) you can pocket upwards of $50,000. It's just amazing how good these guys are. This one, not so much. There is actually a bull rider being nailed by the bull, while the bullfighter tries to distract him. They will do anything to take the hit for the bull rider.
I don't quite know what happened to the day after that, but the next thing I knew, it was 3:00 and I was headed out to see if I could pull up something ... anything ... that would resemble a profit and loss sheet. Our bookkeeper worked her magic over the internet and I got enough to keep the troops happy.
Communication is a good thing, though we lack it quite often. I think we spent more time trying to figure out my van's smart TV internet connection that refuses to connect, than we did lodge business.
Apparently my TV isn't all that smart. It requires a password to my hotspot. For whatever reason, mine contains three dashes. The TV does NOT have dashes on the screen, so it will not connect. My other MiFi won't connect either. The hotspot password was automatic on my phone, and I'm afraid to change it. Will it still work? There's no option for "Change Password".
Of course the consensus of the Board was to get StarLink ... for $150 a month, $90 more than I pay now for the MiFi. Decisions decisions ....... I've definitely fallen down on THAT job.
And so that brings me to this morning. I'm resting up ALL day. It's not supposed to rain today, but it will tomorrow. Of course ... because it's Wreaths Across America day tomorrow, where I will meet friend Mark at the Lodge, gather up something like 40 wreaths and head to the National Cemetery.
There we will place the wreaths on the gravesites of our departed members. In the rain. There will be NO falling down on the job. We have over 300 wreaths to place at cemeteries all over the County. This time I will remember to take pictures!
But first ... mop up those dirty footprints on the kitchen floor.
Nancy you are a busy bee. Hopefully you will be on the road soon and enjoying your van.
ReplyDeleteHappy Friday the 13th!
Frances:)
My Smart TV, when it brings up the keyboard on screen, has two buttons along the bottom, one is marked "#$%", and the other "ace" but with diacritic marks on each letter. The first one, #$%, when you click it, brings up a lot of the extra keys, including a dash.
ReplyDeleteNice your lodge places wreathes at the National Cemetery.
