I Can't Help Myself

It was a fabulous morning at 3 am as I tried to be extra quiet due to company in the other room.  As you can imagine with Mr. Cooper, that didn't last long.  Someone drove a little too close to the house on their way to work and he went ballistic.  So much for sleeping company.

Girlfriend Cyndae is visiting from Sacramento for a few days.  Just for kicks, we watched the news.  I'll be honest, I NEVER watch the news, but I just can't help myself now.

I know all of us have been hard working adults all our lives, working to pay the bills and support your families.  Did you ever ... even ONE day ... cry your heart out at school when the other political party won the election?  Yeah, me either.

Well apparently we have a generation of humans I'm not familiar with.  Harvard University Professors shut down their classes so kids could go to SAFE ROOMS, to recover from the savageness of the election results.  Previously they were provided puppies to hug.  This time it was Leggos to distract them from the trauma.  What the heck???

My only thought was I'm glad for Tech Schools!!!

In other news, Cyndae and I ate way too much and watched too much CNN while government representatives ranted and raved over the election outcome.  Did anyone see the three governors saying they were going to protect all illegal immigrants from deportation?  Even the criminals?  Wow ... I have no words for THAT!  And there was a picture of California's Newsome holding a machine gun?  I think he has forgotten about a little thing called Federal Funding.

Anyway, Cyndae laughed even more at me as I dug the B. A. L. L. out from under the furniture for Mr. Cooper to play.

This is why I don't have nice clothes.  It was hanging just a little too far off the chair.

While Cyndae looked into the renovations of her rental house, I worked on this quilt.  One of the Elks wives makes these lap quilts for Veterans.  Each one has a panel for that particular branch of service.  Sadly, they are not going to be making them any more, so when they asked me to take it over, I said sure.

This one is going to a gentleman back East who is just retiring.  The top came to me sewn together, I just had to quilt it.  You will probably be seeing a lot of these, as I'm picking up all the extra center panels she has.

This morning I'm off early to the Elks Lodge for our Vendor Fair.  I got scammed into running the cash register for the snack bar ALL DAY.  Honestly, I'm not expecting much.  They set this event up way too fast and didn't advertise much at all.  I do not see it being the event of the year, but I could be wrong.

I tried to con Cyndae into going, but alas, she had other important things to do, like laundry or something.  Maybe if I'm lucky, I can sneak up to the attic for a quick nap.  Or maybe I should stop by the bank for some cash.  Decisions decisions!!!!

  4. I must say, I have enjoyed watching the Dems turning upon themselves. The true character of a lot of them has come out in the last few days. Hard to believe they grew up in the same country as I did.

    1. I do find however that many of them were just following along with the wishes of the group, even though they didn't agree. That seems to happen in politics.

  5. Forgot to add, most to them have lived in relative safety and abundance their whole lives. They need to spend a year in a "third world s**t hole" like I did in '67 to really appreciate what they have.

    2. I think they have forgotten to support the working class, which was their focus for so long. They came to support the far far left and elite folks who live in the cities.

Those of you who served this country, especially in the 60's, should be revered for your sacrifice. No one knows but you, and no one can appreciate what they have like you veterans.

  6. Mr. Ed said if you really want to torture yourself and feel depressed just watch the news whether it be right wing center or left. After that watch how your attitude changes I used to be a rush Limbaugh fan years ago didn’t care for Glenn Beck but the more I listen to Rush the more doom and gloom depressed I got . The news is designed for only one thing sell their product the more hype they can sell you psychologically they’re winning. It doesn’t make any difference if your right wing or left wing it’s psychological manipulation.
It’s a fine art of subliminal manipulation same as in a movie theater putting one frame, picture of popcorn, hotdogs, and ice cream just before the admission you can’t see it but your brain has picked it up… 🌭🍿🍦the concession makes a lot of money that way

The easiest solution to the whole situation is to take only one hour a week for news. And then go watch cartoons, the Home channel the rodeo channel and the no thankim channels watch your mood and attitude change

    1. I watch both sides. In the old days however, you COULD believe what they said because they just reported what was going on. They didn't try to manipulate you like they do now.

  7. Nice of you to do that quilt (and probably others in the future), but your days and getting fuller and fuller and ...

Thought we might get through an election without either side yelling "CHEAT!". But it looks like there are some Dems who think "He stole it", with one, Pam Keith, an attorney and the CEO of the Center for Employment Justice, and a Democrat congressional candidate who lost by almost 15 points to Republican Congressman Brian Mast in Florida’s 18th District, said on Twitter (X):

Is it possible that the machines were hacked to switch the tallies from Harris to Trump?

Because that would make actual sense.

    — Pam Keith, Esq. (@PamKeithFL) November 8, 2024
Others on Twitter (X) made similar claims!

And then there is the allegation that in Tucson some mysterious uncounted votes have appeared...

    Sad state of affairs...

  8. CNN is not on my radar and has not been for probably 25 years. I stream my viewing and only watch FOX and a couple local stations when something is going on in our area.

So great for you to take on the quilts for the veterans. My quilt groups makes Quilts of Valor, which are in turn gifted to local veterans. I have donated about twelve of these over the years and it is such a nice way to say thank you for their service. Good luck with this new project.

    1. I never watched the news until about 15 years ago. Lately things have been going off the rails, so it's kind of good to know what's going on.
