Guess what! It is again Tuesday ... time for BINGO!! I'm not sure this being the boss is all it's cracked up to be. But first .......
It was a L O N G day, just like my shadow on this COLD morning in July. Who would have thought it would be 50 degrees out? Up at 4:00 am, not on purpose mind you, we were out for our morning walk by 6:00. Of all the days of the week to sleep in, this might have been a good one if that indeed happened. It didn't.
I started out today with a laugh. I hate updating my phone, but it's been giving me trouble, so I finally said okay. It moved things around, including Mr. Ed's email address, which now lives directly above mine. I email a lot of phone pictures to my computer for the blog. You know what's happening ... my fat fingers have emailed them to him. I'm pretty sure he doesn't care about veggies or quilt pictures!!
I worked on this one yesterday morning before discovering either I counted wrong, or the pattern was incorrect. Yup ... even though that roll was supposed to have enough to complete the quilt, it did not. Too bad, so sad .. I'm too tired to tackle it today.
As I finally wandered out the door to the Magic Kingdom, I was surprised to see these crazy clouds all over the sky. It looked like someone's fireworks exploded.
Luckily, I even remembered to take the new menu item with me ... Nachos. It was a test to see how they sold. The players are always asking for something new, so we tried this idea. I explained it all to the folks in the kitchen before heading upstairs to the office. Too bad they didn't explain it to the crew who would be serving them!! I got lambasted by the Tuesday Night Volunteer Castle Chef for not telling THEM personally. This being in charge stuff is not all it's cracked up to be.
Then I had to deal with a guy who wants to be the new caller, who is running in overdrive constantly. This is NOT him sitting in the hot seat. This guy is cool and calm, a requirement for this job.
I called the first four games, handing out a whopping $2,699 in payouts. Now you know why people are so crazy for Bingo!! It's all about the money. All in all we play 30-31 games. Thankfully, there were no slings or flaming arrows and not even ONE look that could kill. I breathed a big sigh of relief.
That's when it happened. While turning around, I accidentally ran into someone. I said oh excuse me, I'm so sorry, and touched her on the shoulder. Big mistake ... BIG!! Oh my goodness, she went ballistic. DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH MY SHOULDER. BAD LUCK. BAD LUCK YOU TOUCH KOREAN SHOULDER. What? Needless to say, I was pretty taken aback. Okay okay ... I'm SO sorry ... and I went on about my business.
She then proceeded to sit down in someone else's seat. They made her move ... three times. Then she moved next to the one person in the building that she wants to fight. After moving three more times, she landed in FRONT of that person and the war was on.
I had to stand between them to keep the hair pulling and flaming torches at bay. There's just no talking to two women who hate each other. Why wouldn't you sit on the other side of the room? I tried being nice before threatening to expel them both. I even called the King to calm them down because the new caller volunteer was getting in the middle and making things worse. Good grief ... just stay out of everyone else's business and quit causing problems. I had to watch them like a hawk for the rest of the night.
I ran around like a chicken with my head cut off for the next two hours while the King laughed at me. He would yell HEY BOSS ... WHAT ABOUT THIS? It was all in good fun until I hit the 17 hour awake mark and could not stop yawning.
Things finally calmed down when one of the two ladies left for the night. Time to balance the infernal machine. Thank the good Lord above, the new cashier balanced to the penny after I explained to her how to void all those tickets that were incorrect. She's doing an excellent job however, and will get better with time. I mean really, you can't get much better than balancing!!
It was a very long 19 awake hours before I got back home. I was exhausted, but of course could not sleep. Hopefully the first few hours of today will be spent napping on the couch!! Oh but wait ... I have accounting work to do!! I think I'll call in sick.
I hope everyone has a GREAT day!!!
Zzzzzzzz
OMG people can be wierd. Glad it calmed down.
