It was a pretty award winning day in Central California. My little tree didn't die, at least not yet. That may change by tomorrow. I watered it with that little hose on "low" for about three hours yesterday. The plan was to turn the faucet off after my mid morning walk, but of course I forgot all about it. Drowning may be the sad end. We shall see what it looks like tomorrow morning.
No that's not a hole in my wall, I used the mark-up tool to obscure the house number.
While walking the neighborhood, I kept an eye out for appealing landscape ideas. I'm happy to say I'm not the only one with big holes in my yard and not much growing besides the grass. On my entire 2 mile trek, I only took three photos.
This olive tree is right up my alley. To be honest, I'm not sure where I would put it if I HAD one, but I'm sure something will die, in which case I will know just what to plant. Otherwise, we all seem to have the exact same four varieties in our front yards.
Last night was the orientation dinner for those 40 new Elks Members, along with their spouses and sponsors. That meant about 120 people for dinner. Yikes!! As an official officer now, I'm supposed to dress the part. Tan pants. I've never owned a pair of tan pants in my life. Are you kidding? They add 10 pounds and get dirty two minutes after you put them on.
I went to ... where else ... Boot Barn. Lucky for me we actually have one here. Sadly, there were no tan pants. Oh well ..... no use wasting all that fuel to get here, I'll just look around. WINNER WINNER CHICKEN DINNER!!
Did you know that bell bottom BOOT Levis were back in style? Wow ... I wore these for forty years! Although the skinny jeans actually work really well with my high top boots, they have become thread bare because new ones are impossible to find. I suppose this is why! I bought three pair.
In case you were wondering, yes I still have about 30 pair of Levis in my closet from the old days. Sadly, I can barely get one leg in them, let along the middle part which is now twice as big. BUT ... I'm keeping them because I just KNOW I will lose that 25 pounds and be able to wear them again.
On the way home, sans tan pants, I decided to continue the chicken war saga. KFC has been advertising their chicken sandwich as the winner of all wars. Looky here!!! That piece of chicken hangs over the edge of the bun by an inch in all directions!
It's even a REAL chicken breast covered in crunchy goodness. It scores 9 out of 10. Popeyes better look out because this is a keeper. It had the perfect amount of mayo and three pickles underneath. YUM!!
I suppose I should be comparing apples to apples, meaning I should have gotten the spicy version. I guess I'll just have to try it one more time, you know, just to be SURE it's scores that high.
A quick check outside this morning, greeted by the wafting smell of DAIRY over the back yard fence (see Elva, you aren't the only one who has mooing neighbors), harkens to another beautiful day to practice my lines before the initiation of 42 members at the Elks Lodge tonight.
That's right, it's TUXEDO night. I was really hoping that moving the button over on the jacket would help, but alas it didn't do much. I would have gone for the next size up, but the girl said it made me look like a linebacker on a football team. Here's hoping I can suck my stomach in and hold it for one hour without popping the button. Guess I'll be skipping dinner!!
Saw a KFC commercial this past week and essentially it told all the other fast food places that they don't have the expertise that KFC has...nor the famous name or recipe. Thought about your chicken sandwich taste testing and wondered when you would get around to KFC.
ReplyDeleteI've been watching their commercials too. It was pretty good, although I think I'll try the spicy next time. This one was actually a tasty juicy piece of chicken.
DeleteGet a photo in the Tux for us. Please
ReplyDeleteGot it Norm ... of everything but my feet!
DeleteKFC has a great Spicy Sandwich.
ReplyDeleteMost Tuxedo wearers unfasten the buttons after eating.
Be Safe and Enjoy!
It's about time.
Luckily I didn't eat much ... on purpose!!
DeleteOh that sandwich looks awesome! Did you ever hear anything from McDonalds after that disaster of a sandwich? Yes would love a picture of you in the tux! My first pair of Levi's was the 501 bootcut. Loved them, so expensive though now. Does boot barn allow you to try clothes on in the store?
ReplyDeleteI have not heard one word from McD's. Yes Boot Barn lets you try on clothes in their dressing rooms. In fact, they never stopped that practice. They have a great variety of Levis, but the shirts, not so much.
DeleteI've been wearing the mens slim fit Wrangler-boot cut jeans for almost 35 years! Over my cowboy boots and now with my tennis shoes. Oh, I'm a 72 yr. old GIRL! I also did the bell bottoms and remember the Hot Pants with boots? Yup, I sold clothes and did that too - when I was YOUNG! Can't wait for a TUX PIC!
ReplyDeleteGirls in wranglers rule! I wore them exclusively since my high school days!! I never did the big bell bottoms, but in Denver we wore short short skirts with boots. Too funny, the old days!!
DeleteGood luck tonight, sounds like it should be a good time!
ReplyDeleteI had a great time Jim, but boy am I sore and tired!
DeleteI'm looking forward to the tux picture. We are heading back to CA. I miss my moo buddies!
ReplyDeleteAnd when you go back Elva, you will take a big whiff and say ..... WE ARE HOME!!!
DeleteGlad you found the bell bottom Levi's. Ready to ride again!
ReplyDeleteThey say every style comes back again, but I'm surprised to see REAL bell bottom boot pants. We always wore them long so they covered our boots completely and didn't get caught up in the brush when riding after cattle.
