Work Smarter

It was very cool, very breezy and very overcast on this day.  Mother Nature is trying to get in one last hurrah before the hot flashes begin.

Mr. Cooper and I were out early, smelling the smells and leaving emails for the rest of the critters in the neighborhood.

Don't say it out loud, but there is a  K. I. T. T. Y.  that lives under this bush.  Cooper checks up on him every day we walk by.

With a drained and happy Mr. Cooper in the house, I left for a 2 miler.  It's amazing to me just how fast that "fitness" goes away when you sit for a week.  Everything starts to creak and hurt.  If I can force myself to get off my phone and out the door, I feel SO much better.

I pass by this very cool tree every day.  It's a crazy kind of eucalyptus, and reminds me of the ones we had on the ranch.  Terribly messy they are, as they drop all their bark and lots of leaves, followed by tiny little round berries.  GREAT missiles for playing war games in the corrals with your cousins that you wish would just go home.

Work smarter, not harder was something I heard a lot on the ranch.  So when I found out the water faucet that would be watering these tomato plants was leaking WAY too much when turned on, I opted to move them to the other side of the yard.

Gosh ... wet sand and potting soil weighs a LOT!!  This is not the best for moving pots .. better for appliances, but I got the job done easily using the dolly.

Here's where they ended up.  Yup it's dark outside at 5:30 when you forget to take pictures.  There was a little snafu when I discovered the new drip line is NOT the old drip line, easy to poke holes in for tiny drip lines.  I guess the hole was too big, because when I turned the water on, I got blasted in the face with a too small connector in a too big hole!

Maybe I'll water them by hand after all, since I couldn't get the timer to work.  Only the on and off buttons.

After a mediocre lunch of leftovers, I spent the next hour trying to fill out some dumb form on the California DMV website.  Anyone who has lived in California, knows how ridiculous THIS department is.  All I need is my drivers license renewed.  They already have all the info, so why am I filling this thing out all over again?

The letter said all I need is a picture, an eye test and $45.00.  How hard can that be?  Apparently the REAL test is if you can navigate their crazy website because you MUST have an appointment.  It's a good thing I tried now, because the next appointment time is mid May.  That's really unacceptable ... over a 30 day wait.  And don't forget a copy of your mortgage and PGE bill.  I don't know why, since any illegal can walk in the door with nothing and get a license for free.  Makes residents pretty mad, so say the least!

So let's just go sew!!  Stitching the right side to the wrong side makes all those DMV problems go away, because now you have FABRIC problems!  This one is ready to quilt.

And one more almost done.  Another border row and I can chalk another one up on the bedroom door.  I'm doing these while I wait for more embroidery info.  I'm hoping I can deliver the five pieces of fabric for that work next week.  Time is flying by so fast, I want to be sure I get them done on schedule.

There was one last angry phone call in the afternoon.  Yup it was ME.  I've been waiting for those Bank of America papers to show up so I can get this account transferred and this group off my plate.  Nothing ... I've received nothing.  I called in extreme anger and asked for a Supervisor.  This is ridiculous to wait two months and get nothing!!!

Nothing personal I said, but your bank STINKS WITH A CAPITAL S!!!  Come to find out, in spite of my giving them the correct address TWICE ... they sent all those papers to the WRONG ADDRESS twice!!  You know, the one that we told them to delete four years ago.  All the statements come to me at my address ... so why in the world would you send it to Southern California?

And don't you wonder WHO got those cards with our account information!  She deleted every address on there but mine, asked for the new names (that's a first) and promised I would have them in 5-7 days.  We'll see if that happens!!

A little San Angelo Texas rodeo bull riding distracted me for the rest of the evening, along with a tiny piece of cake.  Sugar is good for the soul.  I feel all better now!!!

    1. I can't believe how bad the service is at B of A. You can't even find anyone at the Bank itself!!!

  2. The sun is shining here and temperatures are SLOWLY rising. All is better with a bit of sweetener of some kind. I absolutely love your bottom quilt with the eagle and flag.

  3. Our weather is also much cooler and rain/snow projected in the next couple of days. Looks like the eagles might be snowed in again. Like the quilt tops and hoping you get someone to do the embroidery work. P.S. Don't get me started with Bank of America, I will never have an account with them again. JMHO.
