What a gorgeous day we had on Easter Sunday. The sun was shining ... the birds were singing ... the Mexican La Bamba music one street over was blasting away! I tried to think good thoughts, but gee whiz. If "I" can hear it all the way over here, I rather imagine they are all deaf. Please turn UP your hearing aid and turn DOWN the musica!! We were serenaded most of the day, so it must have been an epic party!
Mr. Cooper slept right through it!
I tried to lay out in the sun for a bit, but someone had other ideas. If you are sitting down, you are eligible for the ball game. He rolls it in your general direction, then you have to get up out of the chair, go GET it, and roll it back. His rolling aim isn't all that good. After about ten times, we went back inside. That's way too much exercise for me!!
I don't know why I went to the mailbox. I'm still waiting for those Bank of America papers to sign ... 45 days later. That's when I found this. Anyone ever actually READ the medical charges sent to their insurance company? This is one of the biggest scams I've ever seen. Thankfully, I only went to this place once. This is the bill that went to my insurance plan AFTER Medicare paid it, in spite of the 0.00 amount shown.
I saw this doctor for about 20 minutes, changing a prescription. That's it ... just write up a new prescription. They charged me $320 for the office visit, an additional $244 to see the doctor, and a whopping $300 for the phone call it took to actually GET the prescription because they didn't call it in to the pharmacy. These doctors are ripping off Medicare and my supplemental insurance the likes of which I have never seen. They should go to jail for this!! No doubt it was discounted, and this amount not paid, but truly, this is highway robbery!! Next time I'll go to my Vet ... he's cheaper!!
In the hopes of feeling better about that, I went to check up on my tomatoes. I'm not growing the big ones, just the little ones this year. Look here ... flowers!!!
Then I spotted THIS!! A TOMATO!! I'm shocked that not only did they survive, but they are already putting out fruit!
Further inspection resulted in THESE! I can't wait for them to turn bright red! Hopefully that happens before I kill them. My reputation for growing things isn't all that great!
AND SQUASH!! I actually have squash coming up. The other plant is shaded too much by the rose bush next door, so I haven't seen it yet. Hopefully it too will be growing and blooming soon. Now I'm thinking ... what can I plant next??
When I walked back in the house, excited over my newly growing goodies, I spotted this. WHAT? What are you doing on the back of the couch? CAUGHT in the act! You sir are NOT supposed to be perched on the back of the couch ... you are fifteen years old!! I guess he was looking for me out the window.
We cuddled on the couch for the rest of the afternoon while I sewed the binding on yet another quilt. I think this makes six?
It was a lovely day, filled with a tasty ham sandwich, deviled eggs and a REAL peanut butter cookie to celebrate!
Tonight I'm headed to the Quilters Guild to explain why they only got half of their requested money from the Elks Lodge. The other half was put aside for me to purchase fabric for all these quilts I'm making. Ummmm I don't think they are too happy about that. Hopefully I can smooth it over. Wish me luck!
Oh, Nancy, my husband and I laughed so hard at the going to the vet comment after your medical bill mayhem. Cause it reminded us of the day my husband got mixed up with the
ReplyDeletedoctor appt. and vet appt. on the same day. He had me going to the vet and our dog going to the doctor. Also wanted to comment on the pics. of your rose bushes from
your previous blog, they are gorgeous.
Ham omelette, put ham in stir fry veggies, grilled cheese and ham, casseroles, cordon blue, etc... are all good ways
to use up all that ham. By the way I love reading your blogs.
Love Melynda.
Thank you Melinda! I hope the Vet appointment turned out good! LOL. That's pretty funny! Stir fry ... that's a good one for the ham. Thank you for the suggestions!
DeleteMr. Ed said now you know why he’s driving a Maserati going to France for a vacation And you you’re still scratching your head looking at your budget. Any other country. it would’ve cost you 25 bucks if that
ReplyDeleteRight? That is so very true!! I was shocked!! I won't be going back there. Thank you for the email.
DeleteTomato plant looks great.
ReplyDeleteCooper looks so cute standing on the back of your couch.
Happy Monday!
Frances:)
Mr. Cooper can strike a pose, for sure! I can't believe the tomatoes are tomatoing!!
DeleteGood luck at the quilt guild meeting. It's a real challenge to "plead" your case to a room full of women about money! That Cooper is a real kick at his age getting on the back of the sofa.
ReplyDeleteBoy were you right about that guild meeting! According to my game camera, the back of the couch is Cooper's favorite HIGH place to perch. I just hope he doesn't fall off!!
DeleteNavy been soup, heavy on the ham...I hope you put a good chunk of that ham in the freezer...that is a LOT of ham for one person, no matter how much you share with Cooper.
ReplyDeleteYup ... four bags went in the freezer and navy beans are on my grocery list!!
DeleteCordon Bleu sounds so fancy and delicious .
ReplyDeleteDoesn't it though? I'll have to look up a recipe!
DeleteFirst what is with people playing music that damn loud
ReplyDeleteNext I like Cordon Bleu had it many times in my life
Last Damn that was expensive, I went to the doctors for a script recently cost me $45 out of pocket for the appointment and $31.60 for the script but I am in a different country
I don't get the loud music either. As for the doctor, they are terribly expensive here ... and if you have insurance, they bill you double the amount it seems.
DeleteHey, somebody has to pay for all the illegal's medical care. You seem to have money, let's redistribute a little of that, and you can pay for it.
ReplyDeleteFor those in another country, it might be cheaper, but the waiting time to get something done can stretch on for months. I'll take my Kaiser health care against anybody's or any place in the world. Hard to beat them.
I've heard that Kaiser is good. Oh yes, Newsom spent billions of our money on illegal medical expenses, then wants the Feds to pony up 6 billion to pay it back. I'm hoping they say NO!
DeleteI went to the doctor for my annual blood work the week before I came up here. She said that I could get my blood work at the clinic there at the hospital or I could go to a private lab in Rapid City. She said the lab was much cheaper at $130. When I got home, I looked up how much last year's bloodwork was; $944 of which I paid $80. What a scam!
