A day could not start off much better than this. The last of my homemade cinnamon rolls, heated to perfection in the microwave and swallowed in five bites!! YUM!! I needed the sugar!
Cooper slept away while I read, washed my hair and read some more before heading out for a walk. He's simple. He's small and takes little steps. No problem keeping up.
On the OTHER hand, THIS guy is much bigger. I missed his characteristic bark when I entered the rig. I think he was missing his Mom and Dad. Time for my first trial. Oh yes, it's ME that created the trials and tribulations!!
Off we went with him outrunning me to the end of the first road in the park. Around the corner we ran, stopping only to smell the roses ... or whatever ... and we were OFF again! I was exhausted by the time we got back. Wow ... this kid is fast! I really felt like he was looking for Mom the whole time. He was treated with a nice "watch the house" treat!
More reading ensued.
Both of these times out, Gibbs made a beeline for my rig. I don't know what it is, but he heads straight for the driver's door and sits down. He refuses to move. Obviously he loves Cooper and wants to play.
This is where we ended up every time. I literally had to drag him away. It could be that he smells Jonathan and wants to take a closeup look. Who knows. Around record breaking time as we traversed the race track, and back to his rig we went.
Three hours later, we were out once again. My mistake ... trying to take both of them at once. I think they crossed leashes three time here.
And another two times just for fun. I ran along behind as they kept up record speed, trying to untangle the leashes. I would never make a good dog walker! Back to our separate rigs we went.
At long last I grabbed the package of Swiss Miss cocoa Patsy left for me and headed for the puzzle. I didn't get far. Maybe three pieces before I was done. Besides, we had one last walk to take before Patsy and Bill returned.
Yup ... straight back to the rig door. No baby boy, you can't go home with me. There's just NO room for four more feet. The very first time he did this, I opened the door and he jumped right in. I feel so bad now ... I'm going to leave and he's going to be so sad!!
There were lots of rubs as we sat in the house and pretended to play with the ball. Oh my goodness, he's so wiggly and happy!!
Just as Patsy and Bill returned, the sun was going down. It was the perfect ending to a day of puppy fun.
And it just got better. No I would never make a good dog walker, but I sure did have fun trying!! The secret is TREATS!! You need LOTS of TREATS!
Sadly, on my last week here, I have picked up the crud. You and I both knew I would ... from the lady sitting next to be at the craft class. Try as I might to move over, she just kept coughing in my direction. I'll be sequestered for the next several days. Oh the fun!!!
You have two fur kids that love you. Cooper and Gibbs !
ReplyDeleteNice you could watch Gibbs so Bill and Pat could get a way for the day.
Hope you feel better soon...no fun getting the crud when you are on vacation.
Sue
No fun at all being "cruddy", but the kids make it all better.
DeleteI love your strategically placed snack dish. It kind of goes with the first part of the paragraph
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does! LOL
DeleteThat was a busy day with plenty of steps involved.
ReplyDeleteIt's sad that people don't try to cover their mouths when they know they are sick.
Stay Safe and Enjoy your recovery.
It's about time.
I agree ... they should just stay home!
DeleteHope you get to feeling better soon.
ReplyDeleteNo fun traveling when one is sick.
Be well soon!
Frances :)
Me too Frances ... me too!
DeleteI, too, came down with the crude yesterday. My voice is about gone. Hope you are feeling better than I am. Our two dachshunds were such a joy to walk together. Nearly fell several times. One was a hunter and the other was scared to death of everything. Poor Gibbs is really going to miss you and Cooper.
ReplyDeleteIt totally sucks Sandie. I feel for you!!! Your two kids make me laugh every time I open your blog. They were just too cute!!
DeleteI'm sorry about the crud. Why don't people stay home.when they are coughing. All that exercise means you can eat more ice cream!
ReplyDeleteI don't know Elva ... I'm afraid to get on the scales! LOL. Maybe ice cream helps a cold!
DeleteZicam is your friend!
ReplyDeleteAha ... haven't tried that. I'll see if I can find some when I get home.
DeleteHow I remember the times that Bubba and Skruffy "tied me up" as I walked them, surprised I did not trip (although I nearly did a couple of times). Hope you get better soon. So far, we have dodged all sickness this winter...but we just saw our primary doctor Monday and you know how those waiting rooms can be... Good news, we are both certified as "still alive". :)
ReplyDeleteI thought I dodged it too, out it only took one day!! Praying you do NOT get it.
DeleteI feel bad that you got the crud on you last days here. Extra sad to see you leave today. :(
ReplyDeleteGibbs will miss you too!
I laughed at this post, I didn't notice Gibbs goes that fast but maybe when he thinks we're around the next corner? Sorry he did that to you, two dogs at once is very brave!
Thank you AGAIN!!
I'm sure he was looking for you two. He misses his Mom and Dad when you are gone! He was fine, but just a bit faster than Cooper! Glad I left when I did. The crud is getting worse!
DeleteThat was sweet of you to watch Gibbs, and I know he enjoyed it. Beautiful sunset pictures! Hoping the crud doesn't last long, especially since you're driving!
ReplyDeleteI would watch that kid any time. He's such a sweetheart!!
