Catching Up In Tok, AK!!

Wifi is good here at the Tok RV Village!!!  So here's a little catching up ... we left Anchorage after Camp Wally World where you can't stay overnight, passing right by the airport.
Nice butt ... I mean BIKE!!!!!  Nice bike!!
Out in the wild blue yonder again, you can tell whether the rivers and lakes are glacial melt due to the gorgeous blue color.  We are heading Northeast towards Glennallen on the "too narrow road" again.  Funny, it didn't seem so bad going the other way.  We drove up on these same roads, but the view going back is totally different.
Unlike California, most of the rivers here are very shallow and wide.  They meander around the sand islands changing course often.
This is where most of that water come from ... the Matanuska Glacier.  It is as wide as the valley, and although hazy here due to the sun, you can't miss the whiteness of it.
Grand View RV park/restaurant is where we spent the night.  A very well kept small place right beside the road.  Most of the parks here give Good Sam and AAA discounts, amounting to about $38.00 a night.  Not bad for full hookup, although mostly 30 amp.  Their pizza is excellent!!
Friday morning, we were off again under beautiful skies.  Tok will be the next stop for a couple of days waiting for Chance mail, then it's off again, heading south through Canada to the lower 48.
There was a 200/300 mile bike race on this day which apparently started in Anchorage.  We hit the 100 mile turnaround sign and watched some keep going.   They definitely caused a traffic hazard!!!  This is Mount Drum encircled by clouds, which we missed on the way up.
Alaska fireweed is in bloom everywhere now.  The story is that it blooms from the bottom up, and keeps on blooming, getting taller all the while.  When the last bloom disappears, it is the end of summer ... better get your woodpile stacked!!
They even have Taco Trucks in Alaska ... this one looks like it should be in Winton California.  Although parked in Glennallen, this Tok Thai Food truck had stickers from around the world.
It's going to be a lazy day in Tok.  Let's see if Patty and I can find anything interesting besides the laundry!!
