Since it was almost noon, brunch became the first order. You know RV'ers ... it's all about the food and friendship!! I would have taken a picture of the BIG BISCUIT on Hwy 40 in Independence, but there was absolutely nothing on the building other than an OPEN sign. Just drive along until you see a ton of cars parked in front of a nondescript house and you're there!! It's not named the Big Biscuit for nothing ... this piece of yumminess is as big as the sky ... almost. At four inches square and over three inches tall, it's a mountain of fluffy goodness.
Stuffed to the brim ... again ... we hit Hobby Lobby before checking for some caches. We made a quick stop at Outdoor World and Camping World just in time for the downpour. When it rains, it pours HAD to have come from Missouri, because within minutes, we were covered with a huge cloud dumping torrents on us as Barbara tried to navigate back to the park.
As usual, the flood from the sky lasted about 30 minutes before it dried up and the sun came out. It was at that point that my cacheing career came to a screeching halt. Did you know they have these disgusting creepy crawlies called ticks in Missouri?? I didn't ... but I'm decidedly familiar with them now!! Unfortunately, 4 out of 5 were the minuscule deer ticks, three of which got a good last meal before being smashed to smitherines!! Dead as a door nail has taken on a whole new meaning!! YIKES!!! Definitely hoping nothing comes of THAT!! I gosh darn guarantee you that I WON'T be walking through any more native grassy areas!!
With me flinching from ever little nerve, we drove to the Salty Iguana for dinner, also located on Hwy 40 in Independence for some of the best Mexican food I've had!! VERY innovative, from the spinach/cheese enchiladas Barbara had to the queso sauce poured over my burrito.
Tom's taco salad was humongous and must have been tasty, because it totally disappeared in the blink of an eye!!
With no more wind or rain and an extremely quiet RV park, I got a great night's sleep. The only thing on the radar today is 93 degree (feels like 110) sunny weather, so our adventure will continue around Kansas City this afternoon.
