That taken care of, we're off to a large mall just up the road in Independence, to find a J.C. Penney store. I LOVE how friendly and helpful Missourians are ... as long as you're not on the road with them, that is. I have been offered use of someone else's discount card, car service from the grocery store (they hold your cart, you get your car, they load it), discount prices when not posted and discounts without having the coupons in hand. On the OTHER hand, we have been rudely regaled with hand signals and horn honking because we didn't pull over (on a two lane road) and let a boat go by ... and because we turned on our signal and made a legal left turn from the left lane. There's no Missouri patience when driving here!!!
With new clothes for all three of us, we headed off to Bed Bath and Beyond. Tom found a Bombay hassock for me to use as an end table, similar to theirs. It was PERFECT!! You can store things in it, you can use it for extra seating for that dinner party I'm planning AND the top turns upside down to make a wooden serving tray. Peter .... yes, we're on a first name basis now ... gave us the discount price plus an additional 20% coupon discount, even though Barbara couldn't pull up the coupon on her phone. How cool was that??
With a carload of stuff (mostly mine ... I mean really, the pillows were on sale for $10!!) we were off to find some Chinese food for Tom. One thing about YELP, it doesn't tell you if the place went out of business, so our first stop was a bust. THEN we found Legends Of Asia, on Hwy 7 in Blue Springs. It was a buffet of magnificent proportions!! This was the sushi bar ONLY part. It was HUGE with many types of weird looking things. Can you tell I'm not a sushi fan??
Barbara is however, and she said it was all amazing. We know it was fresh because several times we saw the cutest kid ... like maybe 12 years old ... putting out new plates. Turns out he was the owner's son, working during summer vacation.
With another 7 or 8 tables of food, it didn't take us long to fill our plates with yumminess and our stomachs to the brim. This was definitely a find and we'll be back soon since it's not far from our campground.
Upon return home, the dogs were just fine and the AC still running. Practically everyone around here keeps the AC going 24-7. It's not as hot as the 108 temperature in my hometown ... in fact, I think it only got to around 89 yesterday due to the intermittent cloud cover and breezes. The humidity however, makes it feel like 110!! Outside feels like an oven.
The bad news was that Miss Jessie spied my possum hiding place and thought it was a toy just for her!! If you know my Jessie, you know how hard it was for me to get it away from her. Covered in lovely doggie slobber, I stuck it up high where she couldn't reach. Not 30 seconds later, Cooper was standing under it barking. If SHE was getting a bite ... HE wanted a bite. It's now hidden in a drawer.
It was a great day with such good friends (who love to shop) and who teach me new RV stuff every day, followed by good food!! It doesn't get better than that!!!
