It's raining, it's pouring, the old man is snoring!! Out of the blue came the rain and washed away all the fog. It started about midnight, so I've been up for awhile. I knew I should have cleaned that gutter drain once again, but I was waiting for ALL the leaves to fall. And so I procrastinate (the ground is too soft) and will put it on tomorrow's list.
This is what every morning looks like at my house, with Mr. Cooper snuggled up. We have been spending WAY too much time on the couch, so I was determined to get in a walk today.
I headed off into the cold since the fog had risen enough to see cars coming. This is my favorite house, a large Greek looking mansion, columns everywhere, with a zoo in the back. This elderly gentleman had lots of animals until recently. Can you see the critter?
One of the peacocks has been wandering the neighborhoods, getting lots of Facebook time having been seen miles away. Apparently he found a nicer home, because this is the only guy left. I rarely hear him screaming any more, but he did say hello as I walked by.
I think I got in all of 3,500 steps before my hip flexors began screaming bloody murder, just like the peacocks. Apparently there has been WAY TOO MUCH Cooper couch cuddling time. I've now set my alarm to go off every morning so I don't forget to walk. If I don't keep moving, I won't be able to keep up with Patsy in Quartzsite!
There wasn't much to see except pretty leaves on the ground, where they should be, and not in my gutters.
Just because I'm now paranoid, I went and started the van. I left it running while I worked on the inside shade. Yup the one that broke is still on order from Canada. I probably should have had the shop take it out completely. If I knew how, I would do that.
Instead, I got a tiny bungie cord and wrapped it over the rod, then rolled it up, moved the cord to the middle and tied it tight. At least now it won't keep falling down. Then I cut a piece of insulation to fit the window. Ok, it doesn't fit at all, but it's close. I only need it when I'm inside at night. It appears the shade won't be here until January. That's four months, but whose counting.
I'm stashing more and more in every tiny corner getting ready to travel. Mostly things like dog food, bird food .. I haven't gotten to the human food yet.
I even found one of those "jump start your battery" things in my truck. It will be for an emergency if I'm on the road, which I hope never happens ... the emergency part. Supposedly you just hook it up, hit the button and it will give your battery a jolt so it will start. I've no idea if it will work and hope I never have to find out.
Here's the latest and greatest battery charger I got at Harbor Freight. I know a lot of their stuff is junk, and maybe this is too ... who knows. It's all Greek to me, but hopefully will come in handy. It's all about being prepared. I'd take it with me, but there's no room.
Lunch was absolutely the worst of the worst. Remember, I test these things so you don't have to. I don't know what came over me. It's a box of Walmart brand Mac n cheese. This is the stuff Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is warning us all about. DO NOT EAT THIS.
I was just wanting something simple to fix. I wasn't expecting much in the taste department. I should have placed a bet on it .. I'd be rich. This stuff is so nasty tasting ... nothing even remotely resembling cheese ... more like a chemical flavor that took not one, but TWO peanut butter cookies to get out of my mouth.
Sadly, I couldn't force myself to throw it away and I tried it again for dinner. Yucky pooh! The rest went in the trash. My tip of the day is do NOT buy Walmart Mac n cheese!!
The day did end on a nice note. I picked up my Walmart order (I do love that service) full of veggies and good-for-you items, with one exception. I didn't even realize the Jose Cuervo margarita mix (no alcohol) bottle was not in the bags. I liked one of those party drinks so well, I wanted to recreate it.
At 6:30 at night, there was a knock on the door. A Walmart driver was delivering it in person. WOW! I was shocked! He said it just came in on the truck. I've never heard of that kind of service before. Maybe the world is changing back ... just a tiny bit ... to the days of old.
The evening found me back on the Cooper Couch watching a little more National Finals Rodeo.
If I'm really lucky, the rain will stop this morning and I will once again unplug the gutter. Well really, it's not plugged, but it will be if I don't clean it out. Homeowners work is never done. Time to get off my butt!!!
Ahhh, Cooper, just look at him, how cute and boy does he know how to relax! Doris from PA
ReplyDeleteHe's also very good at manipulating his Mom!
DeleteI don't like any Mac & Cheese that comes in a box, so don't worry about us trying that stuff! I have not driven our Camper Van for 10 days now, the longest time period so far since we got it. But I have been by it and the solar brings the house batteries up every day unless the sun don't shine, in which case the generator kicks on as needed. Filled it up with gas last time I drove it because I was down under 1/4 of a tank...around 1/8th of a tank and the generator won't work...thank goodness I remembered that tidbit of info.
ReplyDeleteThey are definitely a high maintenance item when it comes to those batteries. I have the auto gen set also, but so far solar has been working well.
DeleteYay for the rain!
ReplyDeleteIt's pouring here you were right it headed this way.
Happy Thursday!
Frances:)
Supposed to be raining every other day. Boooooo! But I guess we need it.
DeleteThat Walmart home service is great. Snowing and cold here, so Dolly ordered online and had it delivered. When we get old, we'll never have to leave the house 😀. Sure hope you have a smooth journey to Q.
ReplyDeleteThey deliver in the snow? Wow!!!! That's awesome!
DeleteCooper is looking cute as usual! I am shocked that Walmart delivered that item, impressed, but shocked!
ReplyDeleteMe too ... and even more so when Doug said they delivered in the snow!
DeleteI always keep a box of mac 'n cheese on hand, but I always add about 1/2 cup of grated cheddar to the mix during the last 5 minutes. Just so it has a chance to melt and distribute along side the cheese sauce from the box. Then you can still taste the real cheddar. It will always do for an emergency. Phil
ReplyDeleteNow why didn't I think of that?? Real cheese would make it better I'm sure!
