It was a gorgeous morning. I know that because the sun was shining brightly in the Arizona sky, even though it was 41 degrees. It's also shining in central California after flooding was happening everywhere. This is looking north on Highway 99 as you exit Merced.
As for my Buzzards Roost home, a levee broke, flooding everything within a mile of my house. Yes, it's the same levee that broke several years ago. You would think they might shore up the river banks, but of course they did not, because in spite of the storm warnings, they have no forethought.
The bad news is record snowfall in the Sierras will cause even more flooding in the spring when it melts. So far I'm in good shape.
So here in sunny Arizona, Cooper and I went for a long walk this morning. It was pretty chilly, but he paid no attention when there are so many smells.
As I'm sure most of you know, I'm not one to take the paved road. If there's a dirt road to nowhere, that's where I want to go. Having dropped Cooper off, I headed across country. There was no one around until I ran into a guy and his three dogs. They were the best trained dogs in the country. I know that because he told me so.
Seems they weren't so well trained after all, since they left a BIG pile in the middle of the road for someone to step in or drive through.
I kept on for what felt like ten miles. I'm sure it was because my legs started talking to me!!
When I ran into this guy throwing his arms up in the air, I did the same and headed back to the rig. Of course I took the wrong Y and got lost. I know that because I ended up on the wrong road. That added another mile to my trek. In the end, it was only 3 miles, but I'm sure it was TEN and my watch just forgot to record it!!
More exciting "stuff" ... laundry. I'm not used to doing laundry in this rig. Previously, my RV had a washer and dryer. If I really need something washed, I have to use the Public ones. NOT my favorite pastime.
Back in the day in the Pacific Northwest where crab and salmon fishermen abound, I learned rather quickly NOT to use laundromats. You see the WIVES of those fishermen are smart. They do not allow stinky "fish" clothes in their houses, nor in their washing machines.
The men have to go to the public laundromats and wash them first. It's like throwing ten salmon in a machine and letting it rip. You cannot imagine the grease ... and the SMELL ... of your clothes once you wash them in those machines. I had to buy all new clothes and never used a laundromat again.
SO ... very reluctantly, I made my first trek across the entire RV park to find the washers were full, all three of them. Rats! I made the long haul back home. After lunch, I made another long hike BACK to the office, where Patsy and a friend were working on what else ... a jigsaw puzzle.
In between checking on the laundry, I helped with the puzzle ... a little anyway. It was a pretty easy one ... I know that because I was actually able to place several pieces. We finished it, but I'll let Patsy post the picture.
I put a few pieces in the dryer, but most of it had to be hung up. Just try to walk in my rig with stuff hanging from every cupboard handle. It's like a jungle in here.
Mostly it was a nice relaxing day, except for those achy muscles that are crying Uncle!! Dinner was less than spectacular as I'm still trying to eat up leftovers. That's another thing I'm having to adjust to ... a very tiny freezer and fridge. It doesn't hold much more than Cooper and Jon food, so dinner is hit or miss. Maybe when I eat up that entire box of 18 ice cream bars I'll have more room!!!
You might be wise to distribute those bars around a happy hour or poker pool before the ten ACTUAL hike becomes necessary. Of course wisdom might also tell you that ice bars are a food group and therefore you can continue to fill your daily requirements and not worry about other food groups. Lol.

Definitely a good idea to distribute the bars, but yes, they are their own food group! Too funny.
DeleteI like Deb's idea for the ice cream bars. Glad you were able to find your way home LOL. 3 machines doesn't seem like much for the size of the park.
ReplyDeleteIt's not enough washers, but their facilities are small. Only in January is it a problem because of the Big Tent crowd!
DeleteI'm with you on the dirt roads. Lots more interesting than the paved ones and less people and cars. As you know, getting lost a bit, is just part of exploring.

There is always something to find down a dirt road!
DeleteWe once went to a laundromat that had a sign asking people to run an extra empty load in washers they used to wash horse blankets.
ReplyDeleteLinda Sand
Ah yes ... horse blankets are a problem. My Mom made my dad buy an old used wringer washer to wash them. Now we just take them to the hand car wash!
DeleteGlad I don't know what goes in washers before me or I would have second thoughts. I like the idea of ice cream for dinner followed with ice cream for dessert. Three miles is a good walk.
ReplyDeleteSee ... Doug knows about ice cream!!!
DeleteWhat a dilemma. Too much ice cream and not enough washers...lol. When we meet in Yuma I have a couple of funny stories about ice cream AND laundromats.
ReplyDeleteI can't wait Elva!!!
DeleteAlways good to be in the know...😉 I really like the saguaro throwing up his arms. I have never like going to laundromats it was my only "must have" when we bought our last two rigs. Though sometimes there is no choice when you are boondocking. I agree with Deb Ice Cream Bars must be a food group...lol
ReplyDeleteI rather think since there are no salmon fishing boats around, the washers are in pretty good shape. Better than NO washers.
