Woohoo ... Mother Nature has turned on the air conditioning! Not only was there no patio sitting on this day, there was barely time for Cooper to hit the grass before we froze. It's 32 degrees this morning, heading down soon to 30.
I dumped the water out of the RV, including the water heater, but I couldn't get those two low point drain plugs out. Hopefully they don't freeze and break. There are two plastic things to unscrew, but I can't tell exactly where to put the pliers to do it. It's not THAT cold, is it?
Otherwise on this day I did practically nothing at all. NADA ... zilch! I didn't cook anything so nothing got burned, meaning I didn't set off the fire alarm ... I didn't break anything or drop anything big on my foot ... I didn't burn the house down ... and in spite of more rain, I didn't find any more leaks.
I did spend some time at the sewing machine, stitching together 58 of the 80 big squares which I will eventually cut up into sixteen strips each. It was more fun to play the ball game with Cooper than sew, so I didn't get it all done.
While searching the internet however, I did come up with a few hacks that most likely everyone already knows. Everyone but me that is. After having an iPhone for probably 15 years ... I really cannot remember when I got the thing ... I finally discovered you can double tap the Capital (or arrow up) key and it will stay in cap lock until you tap it again.
This one though ... this one was something I would use more often. If you are typing and you find you misspelled a word way back at the beginning, it's really hard to get the cursor back there to correct it. Sometimes I erase an entire line to get there. Well here's the hack.
Touch and hold the SPACE bar ... it makes your keyboard look like this, ...then just move the curser (your finger) wherever you want it. Let go and now make the corrections. Such a simple thing ... but I've never heard anyone mention it ... nor is there an owners manual to look up this stuff. Yup that's how I spent my time waiting for the roofers who didn't show up.
Yes ... all day I waited! HOWEVER ... the gardeners DID show up. I watched as he mowed the neighbor's yard, then came over and began to dump their clippings in MY bin. Be honest, am I being an old witch? I instantly figured out they have been putting the neighbors grass in my bin, then not having room for MY stuff, they have been leaving it in my corral. No, the neighbors do not have ANY bins. You do not have to pay for garbage pickup if you don't want to. You can haul it all off yourself.
I told him I was going to put all my garbage in his truck so he could pay to get rid of it at his house. He looked at me rather funny .... well that's what you are doing here!! My bin is full because you have been putting the neighbors grass in it ... so you put my grass in the corral!!
I tried to be nice, but told him NOT to do that again. He made a deal with the neighbors to haul their grass off ... and I do not want to pay for that. No wonder I've been finding clippings in my bin for plants I know I don't have.
I love those neighbors ... they are as nice as they come ... and of course they had no idea what was going on ... but I don't want to pay to haul off someone else's grass while mine is stacked out in my corral. I am however torn between being a nice neighbor and not wanting to pay for someone else's trash.
Thanks for listening to my rant .... here's something that will make you chuckle and the women say YOU GOT THAT RIGHT!!!!
It is yet again BINGO time, so I'll be gearing up my patience quota. Kind of hard to do after dealing with gardeners.
Not many days left to get your Christmas shopping done!!!!!
So NOW, your cuttings will go into your bin, their cuttings will end up in your Corral! lol
ReplyDeleteHahaha he better NOT!
DeleteNothing wrong with a nothing day. If fact, I think I would rather enjoy one!
ReplyDeleteEven a nothing day involves picking up and organizing. I just can't help myself.
DeleteThat message looks familiar...lol.
ReplyDeleteWhy Elva ... how can you tell???? LOL
DeleteI always thought women were better than men and now I know. I can't believe the audacity of your gardener. Glad you straightened him out. There are so many little things our phones can do that we never hear about. Hope you enjoyed your day. I bet your roofers did.
ReplyDeleteI think the painters didn't want to get up on a very steep wet roof. Can't blame them for that I guess. To be honest, every gardener I've had has done that.
DeleteLove the 3 wise women and it's so true! :) LOL. That is something about the gardeners!
ReplyDeleteIt's not the first time with the gardeners. And I'm sure they will do it again!
DeleteHonestly, first of all you are definitely not old and no you are not a witch. Those gardeners were in the wrong and I am sure they knew it. Three Wise Women is all true...lol
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure the gardeners would agree with you! But thank you!!!!
