Nighttime Visitors

Today in lovely Arizona at 4:00 in the morning we had two warnings.  One for pollen and one for fire weather.  I can certainly tell you the pollen count is high as I cough and sneeze all day long.  It doesn't matter though because it brings these beauties down from the mountains.  The weird part is it's 11:00 at night!!

That really surprises me since most deer are not nocturnal.  They usually graze at daylight and sunset.  This appears to be two moms and two grown babies.  It's amazing how they always remember where the water stations are.  Thankfully there were no coyotes on this night.  They must have been trolling the far end of their territory.

After fretting over the insurance problem because I forgot it was an hour earlier in California, I finally got through to one agency to cancel that policy.  Then I freaked out because no one was answering at the other office.  It literally took all day and I was still talking to them by 4:30 pm, but I THINK I'm covered.

At least the vehicles are because I received the insurance cards by email.  The final result was a savings of $1,000.  I felt so good that I reduced the vehicle deductibles to $500 and still saved $880 a year.  Boy what a hassle to go through all that for one house, two vehicles and one RV, but worth it in the end.  I'm hoping State Farm doesn't increase their rates by a chunk next year or I'll have to do it all again.  Of course it probably would have been better if I started looking earlier!!

Patty and I finally headed off to the fabric shop for their birthday special.  She being a tad bit older than me, she always gets the best deals.  The discount is half your age, or at least it always WAS!  Now you only get 20% ... a big reduction in that discount.  If you go to the Arizona Marketplace in Yuma, you get a much bigger discount!!!

At any rate, I picked up two jelly rolls along with a little fabric.  This will actually make three quilts when I add to it fabric I already have.  I also found this pattern ... very different from your normal quilt.  It too will make two quilts with one fabric pack.  Obviously I need to sew faster!!!

On the way home, Patty said "let's go to Coldstone"!  You don't have to say that twice around me.  This coffee lover's special is my all time favorite and reminds me of all those trips I took to Maui.  Every other day found me at Coldstone for this delicious treat in their hot weather!!  Patty and I may have to get our ice cream machines out of storage!

I'm soaking in the silence this morning as no trains are running.  They all went by last night, keeping me wide awake.  Maybe I'll sneak in a nap this afternoon because tomorrow I'll be up early again.  The plumber is returning to fix my drain.  Sadly, I don't think it's the same guy, but I'm not picky!!  Maybe this one will be SINGLE!!!

  1. Have you ever thought of using a Independent Insurance Broker? We use Brown & Brown here in Florida and they do all the research and give us a choice. They get paid from the Insurance Companies...I am sure our costs are a bit higher than if we went alone, except they are the experts and can find good companies at a reasonable price.

    1. That's what I've had for literally the last 40 years. What I lost was the person who cared enough to get the best deal. Nowadays, they don't even look at it unless you call. Even that didn't help.

  2. Dave is right about using Insurance Brokers. They'll do all the research and find you the best price.
Looks like another Masterpiece Quilt about to be made.

A Snap will help you make it through the day.
Be Safe and Enjoy your Plumber.

  4. Those deer are sure cute and ever watchful. Coldstone must be fantastic to fly all the way to Maui for one. Stick with SF.

  6. I did hear that our pollen count was high here in parts of Arizona today. Maybe that's why I was sneezing a few times though I don't normally have allergies. I like the fabric you got and who can resist a trip to Coldstone? Love their ice cream flavors and how they do their ice cream!
