HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!! One Day Late

This was me flying home last night after staying at the Patch much longer than expected.  For the first time ever, they decided to stay open til 5:00.  Nope, not me.  I bowed out at 3:00, only because I forgot to give two girls their lunch break.  I came home and crashed on the couch.

That didn't last long however, because the neighborhood was offering hands off trick or treating.  I jumped up and began dragging all those decorations out of the garage.

My man Stu was the first to appear.  Handsome, no?  At over 6 feet tall, he's a talking wizard that keeps me company at Halloween, but mostly scares the you-know-what out of me when I get up the next morning and see him standing in the living room.  EVERY SINGLE TIME!!

There were more decorations, but this is the only picture I took.  I was tired ... not really looking forward to staying up late to hand out candy.  I needn't have worried.  I ended up eating more candy than I gave out.  Probably three pounds of it now resides in my freezer.  Next year I'm buying candy I hate so I don't eat it.

So .... while celebrating our last day at the Patch, the boss stops by.  Hi Nancy ... how ya doing?  Me hesitantly ... I'm fine.   You know we couldn't do this without you!  UH OH ... the foreboding came on strong.  We REALLY need you to come back on Monday and help pack up, OK?  Well RATS and BATS!!  I really can't turn them down since it only takes about three hours.  Dejectedly:  alright, I'll be here but NOT before 10:00.  So much for last day.

And so the Hunter Farms Pumpkin Patch closed without fanfare, but with lots of laughs on the Ramp Of Doom!   You load up all the pumpkins our little wagon can hold, then it's pulled over the ramp of 2x4's set up to make it wobble terribly.  Anything that stays in the wagon you get for $25 total cost.  Most of the pumpkins sold by weight run about $12, so it's a big savings.

On to November and couch sitting ... maybe a little baking.  But first, a trip to the hardware store for padlocks to put on my fridge.  Hope you had a HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!

  1. We are in Mexico at the moment, near Playa Del Carmen. Every Haloween the main street, 5th st, is full of kids and adults, all in costume. We get a seat at our favorite cafe, out on the street, and watch the show go by. Lots of fun, but last night it rained like crazy and the whole thing got out. Dang!!

We sure could have used all that rain back home in CA. Always next year, though.

  2. ONLY thing nice about living in the Condo...no Trick or Treaters! So, how long are you going to hang around the lock-down state? I think AZ might be calling you back home...

    1. Yes I do hear Arizona calling, but I've got business to take care of here first. Then I'll be off like a shot.

  3. Congrats on another season at the Patch. Consider being asked to close up an Honour.
We live in an Apartment and like Dave no Trick or Treaters.
Keep those walks up and you won't need the Padlocks.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. It's certainly not like in the old days of trick or treating. Nice not to have to buy candy though.

  4. Suckered in for one more day huh?!?! I don't blame you, I could not have said no either. We have not had trick or treaters in probably 25 years. We have always lived so remote that no one stopped by. We had to take the kids to town to do their trick or treating.

  5. Stu is not the handsomest man is he? Guess someone's got to love him haha. I am glad kids in some neighborhoods got some sense of normalcy in this crazy world! I wouldn't have said no either... :) I'm sure you'll be back next year. How many years have you been doing this? Next up..Thanksgiving!

    1. Been working at the Patch for five years. It was a labor of love in the beginning, then they began to pay ... love that part.

  6. Padlocks on the fridge don't work since I can't seem to forget where I hid the key. So may things I can't remember but that one...?!!!
