It's A Balmy 78 Degrees!!

Tehachapi to Quartzsite ... a rather long drive for me.  I'm a short-timer.  I only want to be on the road a short time before I relax with the puppies and a little television.  I'm going to have to find a spot mid point.

Traffic wasn't too bad this time, and with several CHP stings going on, people kept to the speed limits pretty well.  I like to see that.  Especially if you're the guy pulling a trailer (of any kind) and going 65-70 mph.  I know everyone wants to get there FAST ... but please, at least stick to 60 along with the truckers.  Personally, I cruise along at 56 or so, relaxed and happy while everyone else frantically passes me.  I just smile!!

I arrived in Quartzsite with no problems at all.  I have to say that hill out of Indio heading to Blythe is a long one and the flat section after that, a brain cell killer.  Boring with a capital B ... but maybe I was just tired.

After three attempts to get my credit card and the gas pump to work, I fueled up in Quartzsite for $2.32 a gallon, much better than the $3.20 at home.  No, the gas hike has not taken affect yet.  It will go up even more.

It got up to 93 in the afternoon, but both my AC units kept it comfortable at around 80.  The weather guesser (learned that from bloggers Rick and Kathy Rousseau) said it "felt like 88".  My little place in Vail is at a higher altitude, so I'm kind of hoping it won't be too terrible.  This morning at 5:30 it was a balmy 78.

Once set up in Park Place RV Park for $21, the puppies crashed.  Jessie's leg is doing so well, I am now having trouble keeping the pressure bandage on for one more day.  Apparently the swelling has gone down.  Now if it will just stay that way.
So you know there's good news and bad news ...  not bad really, just irritating.  While looking for my book of passwords this morning, I discovered I left it and all of my bank account stuff, including checks, at home.  Nice, right?   Oh WAIT!!!  I just remembered I actually DO have one checkbook in my wallet in my purse.  WHEW!!  I'm saved!  Otherwise, how am I going to pay for all that dirt Dan is having delivered to my house this morning for the RV pad??  Guess I better add that to my check list!!

I do have other pictures, but the internet isn't cooperating.  For some reason I have great service but no mail ... which is where all the pictures are!!   I'll just have to catch up later.  For now, I'll be off again in a couple of hours.

    1. Agreed. I would have stopped there, but really didn't want to unhook the Jeep. Next time I'll take a couple more days for the trip and do just that!!

  2. We added a signal booster to our trailer so we could have better internet access but even that is hit and miss in January when the Big Tent comes to town.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. I actually do have a booster in the drawer ... I just don't know how to hook it up. It wasn't really the internet ... it was the email service whose server was down, so I wasn't getting the pictures.

  3. Do you take interstate 8 around Phoenix? If not it's much quicker and prettier.

    1. You are right Ed ... but I didn't want to ruin the view with tractor tracks and decimated natural vegetation. Plus, it required 10 loads, which would have left quite a big hole!!
