Counting My Blessings

I think this is one of the craziest weeks I've ever had.  Let me recap:  two armed robberies, one prison escape, one home burglary (caught one guy, other still on the loose), all within two miles of my house .... kid tries to steal stuff from my garage, one big accident on Hwy 101 in Morgan Hill, another big rig runs off the road on Pacheco Pass and our most beloved Bingo manager Ken passes from a major heart attack.

To make things even worse, in the morning about 10:00 I heard a big explosion.  About a mile from my house a big rig carrying gasoline took the 25 mph offramp at an excessive rate of speed and flipped the truck over, which immediately exploded in a fireball.  The fuel went everywhere, including down the drains.
Damage ended up being less than expected as 30 foot flames exploded out of the drains, melting the sides of a couple of fast food places.  Luckily the gas station right across the street did not sustain any damage.  Unfortunately, the driver died.  When the flames were finally put out, the truck was literally melted into a blob on the pavement.  You couldn't recognize it at all.
When I finally went to the Magic Kingdom last night, I passed another bad accident just five minutes from my house.  A pickup pulled out in front of another pickup going 55 mph.  No one was paying attention.  Thankfully, no one was badly injured.  I sat in the middle of the highway with my emergency flashers on to slow traffic until the Sheriff's Department arrived.

Adding to my stress level big time, my Jessie girl requires immediate surgery on two of her legs, both having large growths on them which I assume to be the cancer they found last summer.  The third surgery will be removal of two teeth that seem to be bothering her quite a bit.  I'm definitely NOT looking forward to that as I take her in this morning.
So I'm counting my blessings, thankful that I wasn't involved in ANY of those things going on all around me this last week.  It's not even a full moon ... that's the first thing I checked!!

Rushing off early ... I'll keep you posted on Miss Jessie and relate the Magic Kingdom stories tomorrow!!

  1. I know it can happen anywhere but personally I'd be moving further away from the center of the target where there is less Stress like Arizona.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

  2. And it all started yesterday when you complained about Taco Bell's food
So it looks like your second picture took care of the Taco Bell stand
I guess you can chalk it up as terrible Tuesday ??
    and sorry about Mis, puppy
The solution to the stress problem is pour a glass of wine and leave it on the counter take the bottle to the couch and finish the bottle
And after you finish the bottle write tomorrow's blog sorry nothing is changed but you have a different outlook
Hug a puppy they deserve it

    1. Yeah that was us. Could have happened anywhere. I'm sure glad no one was hurt ... except for the driver.

  4. I hope all is well with Jessie, went through issues last year with Skruffy that I don't wish upon anyone else. Are they going to move you up to Bingo Master?

    1. It's hard to see your "kids" go through this kind of stuff. No Bingo Master for me .... they need someone who will be around more than I am.

  6. I'm out of sync on the moon thing... This evening, I noticed the weather guesser I watch on TV had a graphic that showed a full moon. I then noted that the moon on the calendar was dark, a new moon. Not the white hanging in the sky...
Once upon a time I worked in a Navy hospital on Long Island, NY. When I worked nights, it was in the admissions office. I saw the increase in baby admission numbers on the full moon. I became a believer in the effect. It was 50 years ago, but I suspect the effect is still in force.
