Not just roaming the U.S., but roaming on my MiFi, which is slow as molasses, so this will be pretty short. We left Gettysburg Pennsylvania yesterday morning heading West. Option A was to go to Baltimore, except it would be a madhouse for two reasons ... school starts at West Point Monday, and it's the 200th birthday of the Star Spangled Banner. There were no places at the inn under $75 a night and my foot wouldn't take much walking, so we chose Option B, head West. Our time is now running pretty short and we need to get going. I wish we had time to meet with friends Ray and Cindy, but the Balloon Festival is calling and we still have a couple more stops along the way.
We went South on Hwy 15, and West on 70 when those little drops of wet starting hitting the windshield. It quickly became a downpour that lasted about 5 minutes and vanished. Again West on 68, from Pennsylvania into Maryland and back into Pennsylvania on Hwy 40. Then we turned down a narrow overgrown road for eight miles. Now I trust Barbara and Tom's navigations implicitly ... but I did begin to wonder if this road WENT somewhere, or if it just stopped in the middle of the Laurel Highlands (mountains) ... least I think that's where we ended up. Finally, we pulled into something called Outflow Camping and ended up with one 50 amp and one 30 amp service. It's the Corps of Engineers campground on the Youghiogheny River Lake (pronounced Yock-a-gainy) spanning the Mason-Dixon line. We're just out in the beautiful boon toolies by a river!! I can tell because the guy next to me built a nice fire last night, right under the tree with the burnt leaves, then went inside for the night. It smoldered quite nicely!!
When we checked in, we found out that Frank Lloyd Wright's Falling Water House is close by, so we plan to check it out. There's tons of outdoor activities here, but rafting or swimming with my foot, won't work out so well. It's actually feeling much better, but all the walking crooked and limping is starting to bother other parts and pieces, so I'm trying to keep it to a minimum.
Hope to be able to load pictures this afternoon. The adventure continues!!!
Sorry we missed you, hopefully we can get together another time.
