Remember Dial-Up???

That's how the internet service is here in Cottonwood Thousand Trails RV park, even at 5:00 am, so posting may be spotty for a few days.

Before leaving Saddle Mountain RV Park in Tonopah, we took a hike looking for a few geocaches.  Note to self:  wear tennis shoes geocaching!!  Between the snakes and the sand, sandals are not a good choice!!  Right outside the park walls I saw this beauty ... sorry, I have no idea what he is, but he was eating delicious morsels from the tree trunk.
When he got to this side of the tree, from the look on his beak and the flapping wings, he must have hit a wasp, or something that tasted REAL bad!!
Everything is in bloom in the dessert ... including this beautiful barrel cactus.  I've never been in the desert in the spring to see the cactus flowers!!  Even the saguaro have yellow crowns!!
This prickly pear is about to produce fruit, having just dropped it's flowers and looking like baby birds waiting for lunch!!  Prickly pear jelly ... yum yum!!!
The drive to Cottonwood was uneventful, thank goodness, and I pealed off to stay at Thousand Trails RV Park where I am a member.  Due to the bad weather in the Kansas area, we will stay here about a week, which for me will be the cheapest yet ... FREE!!!  With only three sites available, I found this great one ... except one neighbor came and told me there was a note on the table, and other prospective campers went elsewhere.   Except the note blew away in the strong winds ... hmmmmm.  The neighbor on the other side said someone camped there the day before and it should be fine.  What to do ... what to do!!  I parked it!!  So far the electrical is good and the water is coming out the faucet.    Today I'll hook up the sewer and see what happens!!
The Westerfields drove on up to Clarkdale's Elks lodge where they found all the spots empty.  If the internet is better up there, I may just have to saddle up and mosey on down to THAT parking spot!!  Starving of course, we checked out YELP and stopped in at the Main Street Cafe and Pizzeria in Clarkdale.  Tom had one of the best burgers I've seen in a long time.  Dan Chance would have been in heaven with THAT bacon burger in his hands.  Barbara and I had wonderful pizza ... half of which we both took home!!
We made a quick stop at the Verde Valley Train Excursion to make reservations for the ride Tuesday. Who knew it was National Train Day???  We will just have to celebrate on Tuesday!!  Outside were beautiful Ocotillo in bloom!!

It's much cooler here in Cottonwood with nice winds blowing much of the time.  Today they expect gusts up to 30 mph, so my rig will be rocking and rolling!!

Happy Mothers Day to all the Mothers out there ... hope your day is filled with love and family!!
