AURORA BOREALIS!!

I got the news.  Did you get the news?  The Aurora Borealis is going to be the most spectacular in history.  It's going to spread all the way down to TEXAS!!  I spent the first hour of the day setting up my camera and tripod and taking a few test shots.  I certainly don't want to miss THIS!  Yes, it's a little cloudy, but that will go away soon.  I'm SO EXCITED!

While I waited for the sun to go down, I got on with the ordinary and mundane.  I was supposed to drive the van today, upkeep on the battery and all, but was waylaid over and over by the telephone.  Seems the Lodge Bookkeeper was freaking out after getting the computer to spit out the latest reports.

I can't blame her.  YIKES!  But then I discovered she sent me the wrong ones.  She corrected that, only to find it was twice as bad as I thought.  Yeah .... we have "spending" problems like I've never seen before.  Some people understand not spending every dime NOW because you have a $5,000 property tax bill to pay next month.  Some people just don't get it.  I'm oh so close to not caring any more either.

That went on so late, I didn't really want to go for a drive.  Instead, I hooked up the battery tender once again.  I'll check it every day this time.  Yes it's hiding under the bucket because they say it's going to rain for the next four days.

I was followed everywhere I went.  The bad news ... I found a fleap (yes, a flea) on my lap after a petting session in the house.  We can't have that, so she is relegated to the outdoors until I can get some flea meds.

Like a puppy dog, she follows me around ... I have to be careful not to trip over her.  Those eyes just amaze me every time.

Since I was out of stuff for Thanksgiving dinner, I made an on-line order to Wally-Mart.  I have to admit, their prices are WAY lower than anyone else.  $39.00 instead of $89.00.  SOLD!  The pickup guys are always very nice, though they seem to change week to week.  This one had on some cologne that was AMAZING!  I kidded him a bit and we had a good laugh.

So here's why my new favorite is Walmart.  When I got home and went to put the bag-o-meatballs in the freezer, one fell out.  Ummmm there's a hole in the top.  It looks like a box cutter hole.  Just for kicks, I weighed the bag to see if any had fallen out.  Sure enough, the 26 oz bag weighed only 23 ounces.

I called WallyWorld and she said to just go on the app and ask for a refund.  Really?  Yup that's what I did and it refunded me the entire $8.00, but I keep the bag.  I can see someone turning that into a racquet, but it works for honest folks I guess.

Mr. Cooper and I shared lunch AND dinner ... a pork loin I threw in the crock pot because I was lazy.  It came out really tender and tasty.  No work involved.

FINALLY ... the end of the day and the most fabulous sight ever!!  I walked outside to see this amazing aurora borealis.  Can you BELIEVE IT?   It's absolutely a fabulous sight to see.  How does this happen??  I was just WOWED!!!

No, you can't believe it.  THIS is what it looked like from my back yard.  There was no Aurora and no Borealis.  After teasing us like crazy, the weather folks turned tail and said it wasn't getting anywhere near us.  Even if it did, the clouds would have obscured the view entirely.

I tried again ... surely they are wrong!!  All this hoopla and NOTHING?

One more try ...... and nope ... no color anywhere around here.  Not only am I too far south, but I'm completely covered in clouds.  In fact, it started to rain.  Well that was a big BUST!!

Dinner was just as unexciting.  I made broccoli with cheese sauce ... something I've been craving, but the sauce was not the one I've been looking for for the last ten years.  The pork was delicious, even if I did have to share with Cooper.

Dessert ... just a small slice of that pumpkin bread I made.  By the way ... here's a shocker too.  The little loaf pans I bought to make this were $7.99 for five.  I got five more from Wally-World for $3.59.  Seems our local grocery store is ripping us off like no other.  I will not ever shop there again.  It's Wally-World for me.

And so ended another lovely day.

I've planned a three day trip at the end of next week, so it's time to get some freezer meals made up for Cooper and I.  Of course the weather guessers have predicted rain for those exact four days.  Just my luck.   I'll throw in a good book to read.

  2. Re your walmart order refund...we live 20 miles out in the country from WM but they do deliver out here. Granddaughter, who lives on our property, orders from them all the time. I don't think she has gotten a single order yet that was correct..10 lb hamburger chub instead of ordered 1lb, 2lb butter instead of 1 lb, order several hours late, case of soda instead of 6pk, etc, etc. She gets refunds like you did, she gets double credits, and never has to return anything. I told her she doesn't to get a second job for extra income, she just needs to do more Walmart orders!
