Nancy, I understand how you feel. I lost my granddog, Lucy, recently. She was my daughter's dog, but I loved her so much and she loved me too. It's hard to think about her without tears.
I see nothing wrong with teary eyes when thinking of a beloved pet. Remembering what you're going through makes me appreciate our Gibbs even more............as if that's possible! 💕🥰
As you may remember, our granddaughter has a sister to Cooper. They sent me a video of her throwing a tennis ball and Chloe would bring it back and drop it at her feet, over and over again. Guess who I thought of when I saw that?
Ever since I lost Skruffy, I would see "shadows", feel "nudges", just felt her near me. When we got Indy, I though they would go away...but every once in awhile I see that "shadow", feel that "nudge". Indy made it easier, especially when Bubba passed a couple of months later...but in my heart there will always be a place for Skruffy, and for Bubba.
You do whatever you need to do to grieve. We are all here for you. We love our pets with every fiber of our being and that is why we are lost without them.

Take one day at a time and eventually it will get a little better, though hard to see that now. Try and push yourself to stay busy. Take care.
