CRITTERS .........

We're dropping down in Central California.  Slowly but surely, the weather is cooling off.  Not that I'm complaining, but soon we will have a high of 65.  Time to finish up all those outdoor chores!

This is what it looks like every morning in my house.  This is rather subdued and quiet.  It's usually very LOUD and DEMANDING!  It's breakfast time and MOM, I'M HUNGRY!!  I may not have to cook for a MAN, but I certainly am at the disposal of Mr. Cooper.  If I waited, the rug would be completely rolled up.

This one is even worse when it comes to attention.  I thought cats were very independent nose-in-the-air critters.  Not so much THIS one.  She talks constantly and spends more time on this arm of the couch than anywhere in the house.

See what I mean?  She doesn't care to sit in my lap, but she likes to be touching.  POOF!  Instant cat hair everywhere!  Summer isn't going to be fun, I can tell.

Though I got all dressed up to go OUT, it never happened,  I can't tell you how often that occurs.  Part of it is the Cooper-has-to-go-out constantly problem, and part of it is fuel costs at the moment.  Not that I can't afford it ..... I can ..... but my feet stick in the ground when they jump the price up to $6.79 a gallon the day they open up drilling on the California coast.  It SHOULD have gone DOWN, not UP.

Since I was out of Cooper food, I decided to cook for him instead.  Truly, I cook more for him than I ever do myself!  It's just boiled chicken ... his favorite.  He doesn't get a lot, just a sprinkling over his regular dog food.  If you think chicken is expensive, you should see the price on his DRY food.  Two years ago it went from $35 a bag to $65 a bag.  You would think it had fillet mignon in it!!  It's worth it however, not to have to go to the Dog Hospital with pancreatitis.  By the way, he's been fine since back on his regular food.

My plan was to get this quilt quilted, but as you can see, there's a little problem.  Apparently Miss Kitters the blimp decided this was a nice hammock to sleep in overnight.  It stretched the fabric considerably, so I had to remove the entire thing from the longarm and start over again.  Hopefully the fabric will go back to its original shape with a little misting of water.

There was actually quite a bit of nice sun left in the afternoon, so I laid out for a bit.  It felt so good I almost fell asleep.  At least I will be able to wear shorts this summer and not blind folks when I walk by.  I admit it's not all that comfortable.  It takes a bit to get my back to bend when it's time to stand up.

I'm never alone, outside or inside.  Kitters is always looking for rubs of some sort.  This is her most favorite.  I have seen dogs love this treatment, but never a cat!  She would prefer this spa treatment continue for an hour, but since I'm spitting out kitty hair the entire time, it only goes on for about five minutes.  She absolutely LOVES it!

OH LOOK!!  Almost a full moon.  Just what I needed for the upcoming Bingo games.  March 31 is our next Bingo day, and April 1 will be a full moon.  This is NOT the sun setting ... it's the almost full moon in my back yard this morning at 4:30.  I think the moon rays are what's making the roses bloom like crazy!!

That was it ... a lazy sit around kind of day.  EXCEPT for one thing.  I caught Miss Kitters looking WAY too intently at something in the grass.  Sure enough ... a baby lizard.  I encouraged it to go to the grass roots and covered it with a heavy towel.  Literally five minutes later, the towel was bunched up and there was the tiny little guy laying on my living room floor.  Big sigh!!!

I scooped him up and took him to the front lawn to hide under a nice bush.  DARN CAT!!  Leave those lizards ALONE!!  At least she isn't eating them, but I really don't want dead lizards under my bed or hiding in the corners of my house!!!  I can hear Kitters laughing at me ............

Critters ... It's hard sometimes to live with them, but I can't live without them!!!

  1. Kitters is so cute. I just love her markings.

  2. Looks like you will need to start closing the door to your quilting room, otherwise she will continue to lay up there.
Another trick is to cover a nearby chair, so when you need to move can simply place her on it. She will start to recognize it as her chair.
Stay Safe and Enjoy the changing weather.

    It's about time.

    1. Unfortunately, there is no door to close and she is VERY sneaky. I'll just have to quilt the same day I set it up!

  3. We've been in Plymouth, CA this weekend and the weather has been fantastic! Ever been to the 49er RV Park here? Can't believe how many people live here full time! The regulars are in the pool already LOL. Way too cold!

  4. I hear you with the fuel prices. By choice, fortunately, I do not have to drive much and basically am only picking up the mail/groceries once a week. Used to go to the post office (we do not have mail delivery here) everyday and stop into the market next to it. So sad that Kitters took up residency on your quilt. I know it is a huge project to get a quilt set up for the quilting. Take care.

    1. Fuel will go back down eventually. It does actually work into the fact that I would rather stay home anyway!! LOL

  7. Good job on those LED lights you replaced in your previous two blogs...never heard of the duct tape thing to get light bulbs out. You know, IF you ever have a bulb break at the base when taking it out of the socket, leaving the screw part and electric element up in the socket...you take a uncooked potato with the end cut off and whittle the potato end down to the size of the bulb screw in area, force it up in the socket (electricity off, of course) and turn it...works every time.

    1. I've heard of the potato trick, but luckily have never had to use it. Duct tape works when there's no room to get your fingers around the bulb.

  8. It seems like Kitters shouldn’t shed so much
all the time. Some give their cats a tsp of olive oil
every day…..just on a dish. There is always
    option for different dry food.😋

    1. I think it's the change in weather right now. We are up in the 80's mostly, and she likes to lay in the sun a lot. I changed up her food to a better quality, but she's not impressed. Seems she liked the cheap stuff better!
