My Guilty Little Pleasure

Elva ... you're going to love this!!!  Here it is, my guilty little pleasure, CHEETOS.  I haven't had any of these in over a year, but since the world is ending, I might as well indulge myself.  I don't go crazy, I actually make the little bag last through four sessions of orange-fingered yumminess.  I opened them from the bottom, hoping for some good luck in our return to normalcy.
Here's another thing I don't eat ..... bread.  Why in the world I thought I should make some, only because there was none to be had at the store, is beyond me.  At long last, after almost thirteen days, this loaf is gone, along with all normalcy in my stomach.  It doesn't like bread NEAR as much as cheetos.
In an extreme effort to not WASTE any said food items, I took a ten day old box of raspberries and made sauce out of them.  I was inspired by Patsyischillin who has done this a couple of times.  It was pretty tasty, but I sure got tired of picking those seeds out of my teeth.  I can scratch raspberries off my list forever.

Here's another thing ... I eat VERY little ice cream, so why in the heck did I buy that whole gallon of Blue Bell?  It was the only container of vanilla I could find.  I'll never finish THAT off!!
All this food I'm not used to has systematically added almost all those pounds back on.  How depressing.  It's bad enough I have no one to talk to, but add to that those uncomfortable I-feel-fat pounds and it's a recipe for disaster in my book.

So for the rest of the week, I'm determined to quit eating all the bad stuff and get back to feeling deprived.  It's much healthier for me.

My cactus looks like it's going to bloom any minute, but alas, nothing is happening.  Maybe it's too warm?  Up to 80 yesterday.  I even drug out an old pair of levis and cut the legs off in order to have a pair of shorts without going to the store.  Today they are so tight I'm miserable.  I know there is a solution to that ... stop the hand to mouth exercise I've been doing.  It would also help if I quit opening the fridge door like there was someone in there to talk to.
My current pastime is laundry.  How exciting, right?  A little more fun is playing great white hunter and getting rid of all the moths that flock into the house every time I open the back door.  It's perfectly okay though, it's that time of year ... spring is here!!

Today I'm taking my camera out on safari across the asphalt highway and into the unknown.  At least there won't be any food out there and maybe I can leave a pound or two.

  1. Run the Juice through a paint strainer you can get them at any paint or hardware store
If you buy the raspberries put them in the freezer do not wash them
If you put 4 cups in a sauce pan with 3/4 of a cup of water simmer it add about a half a cup of sugar use a potato masher to break the raspberries down let it simmer for about 10 minutes while it's still hot poured through paint strainer
I used to put the syrup in a Gatorade bottle it's usually just enough and then put it in the refrigerator
Down here they sometimes have Raspberries on sale for $.99

    2. Aha! I'm writing down your raspberry recipe. Thank you. Yeah I'm a little worried about the market too. Trouble is, everything I have in there will be taxed if I take it out. I have no doubt we are going to lose a bundle with this one!

  2. Have you ever considered a Exercise Bike, Treadmill or Elliptical Trainer as a way of keeping the pounds at bay and keeping yourself fit. You can even set it up in front of the TV so you have an excuse to watch it.
    Be Safe and Enjoy!

    It's about time.

    1. I hate to tell you Rick but I have a treadmill in the living room. Yes I definitely should be using it, especially now. I'll give it a shot.

  3. I've heard Bluebell is the best ice cream ever! I like when I can get the little cups of ice cream but don't see that with Blue Bell. Have you tried Enlightenend? It's amazing for a low carb ice-cream. Haven't had cheetos in years. I do have a couple of bar b q chips when I have tuna fish :) It's required in my life LOL. That cheesecake looks amazing, I'm going to have to try it.

  4. Nancy, thanks for the comment on my blog about the Virus Meter...I had meant to put a link to the meter, which I have now done. One for the worldwide, one which shows all the countries (and then you can click on any country to see more) and one link for USA. Yes, we have just over 1,000 deaths in USA, but worldwide it is over 22,000 and climbing.

    1. I've no doubt it's going to get worse before it gets better. I'm at least glad to see our "recovered" numbers are climbing.

    1. I'm with you Jeanette!! It's funny too, it just doesn't taste like it did when I was a kid. I don't plan on making more any time soon.

  6. Thanks for yesterday's post on Safeway and Fry's. We were at Safeway 0700 hours, they had nothing. No eggs, no tp, almost no produce. Zero garlic. We went down to Fry's and they had eggs! garlic! produce! sugar! flour! Yay! Also got two packs of old style teeny tiny toilet paper rolls. We'll take it.

    1. Isn't it weird how Safeway has nothing yet Frys has everything? It sure says a lot about Kroger's distribution center. Glad you were able to stock up.

  7. Yay for Cheetos. I have to be careful. When I eat potato chips, after a few, my body tells me I'm done. Yes, Shirley Kay, tuna and potato chips go together. But when I eat Cheetos I have to tell myself that I'm done or I'll eat them all. BTW....Jerry always opens the chip bags from the bottom. I laughed when I saw you did the same. Enjoy!

    1. Too funny!! I do love them, but they are not good for me!! At my late age, my body decided it didn't like wheat flour.

    1. Isn't it funny how we all love Cheetos? Better grab a bag quick. They come from Modesto California and they just had a worker test positive for the flu. They closed the entire place down.
