Breakfast Number One

So here we are at the Western Motorhome Association rally in Indio California.  Trust me, as much as I have enjoyed this rally over the last nine years, there is no other reason to come to Indio.  Everyone at this rally will tell you the same thing.  Oh wait ... the best part ever is the Living Desert Zoo and Gardens (here's a pic from a couple years ago).  You also have your choice of 9 golf courses, if that is your thing.
So on the very first day, MY first duty was to produce breakfast.  I'm sorry to say there are no pictures because I was too busy chopping and hacking fruit.  Here's the menu:  yogurt, bagels, english muffins, fruit medley, oranges, bananas, cranberry bread, cinnamon rolls and juice.  I ate everything, all of which is NOT on my diet.

Once everything was cleaned up, I trotted off to where else but Monica's Quilt store, one of my favorites.  I'm sorry to say it's also one of the most expensive in the country.  I snagged a few pieces of fabric, but that too will have to wait since I've been so lax with the picture taking.

In a big rush and with nothing for lunch, I stopped in for one of Patty Chance's favorites!  NOT!  Lookie lookie ... a new fancy spork!!  And I'm pretty sure his face has changed ... not for the better I might add.  A little thinner, don't you think?  The good news is the slaw and chicken taste EXACTLY the same, which I love!!
Although a nice nap would have been on the menu, the screaming alarm on the fancy rig across the way kept everyone awake.  That happened AFTER he backed his Hummer out, running over the two fancy dancy electric scooters he had propped against the rig.  Oh my ........

Time to whip up some fabulous appetizers for the 4:00 happy hour.  I have to say, if you're in a pinch for time, this is one of the best.  Two minutes and it's hot and ready to go.  Everyone LOVES popcorn.  I served it up in small plastic cups.
Surprisingly, our ex-President showed up for happy hour, having just completed his third heart surgery.  I suppose that's a pretty good excuse for sticking me with the hot potato Presidency.  He appears to be in great health and for that we are thankful.

I'm on the run this morning with our pancake breakfast to begin at 8:45.  We discovered just in time that the griddle person wasn't here, so two of our members ran off to Walmart.  Sometimes you win.  They scored not one but TWO big griddles for a measly $20 each.  If you're in the hood, come on over for sausage, pancakes, fruit and juice.

Otherwise, I'm done here.  I'm off to shower and spend an hour trying to fix this hair!!  Happy Tuesday!!

  1. The joys of making everything work. The saying is if you want to get something done give it to the busiest person and it works.

  3. Ah Nancy, you should not be too critical of Indio. After all just go 5 miles west to California HWY 74 and then up 7 level hill to the lookout for a most spectacular view of all of Palm Springs and the Coachella Valley. In my eyes it is one of the prettiest views you can enjoy. You certainly see how man turned the desert into an Oasis by bringing the Colorado water into the valley.
