Instant Road Rage

Well THAT was an interesting trip.  I'm currently parked at the Sparks Marina RV Park.  Yes, it's $50 a night, but a very cool place to stay.  More about that later.

So I hit the road about 9:00, to find traffic fairly heavy, but not near as bad as the opposite direction.  This was one of those "someone hit the brakes" no-reason-to-stop lines that went on for about three miles.  Just past this point, all heck broke out.

I was driving in the middle lane somewhere south of Stockton.  Actually, I can't tell you where.  I was in shock at what happened.  I saw two cars coming up behind me, kind of playing tag.  Yikes ... they are getting pretty close to each other AND ME.  They passed me and ran side by side.   That's when I saw the finger come out the window.  Uh oh .... I slowed down.

The driver in my lane swerved into the car on the left, hitting the brakes, then pulled back into my lane.  Next thing I know, it swerves BACK into the far left lane and slams on the brakes, causing the five cars behind them to do the same. The car completely stopped right in the middle of the fast lane.  The driver jumped out of the car and started screaming at the top of HER lungs, waving her arms like a crazy person.  What the heck??

I hit the air horn so none of the stopped cars would pull out in front of me, slowing down as fast as I could.  Luckily, I passed them and kept going.  What a crazy lady!!  That was instant road rage!

I hate driving through Sacramento so I kept it at 55 until I was out of town.  By then it was all uphill until the snow came into view.  It was beautiful, tinged with that fearful thought of driving in it.  

In my truck, I wouldn't care.  This rig?  No way.  By the time I hit Donner summit, there was ice and water on the road with snow plows going the opposite direction.  

I breathed a sigh of relief as I saw Donner Lake and knew I was getting close to my destination for the night. 

After five long hours, I hit the turnoff to the RV park.  It happens there is a TA Fuel station right on the corner.  I'm filling up, even though I probably don't have to.  Not near as bad as California, but I expected Nevada to be much cheaper.  

There is one minor problem with this fuel station ... it's a Casino.  Turn the wrong direction just inside the doors, and you are lost in a cloud of smoke.  It took me ten minutes to find my way back to the "store" and I could hardly breathe.  

So this park ... it's awesome.  As soon as you pull in the driveway, there is someone directing you to check-in.  Before you even get back to your rig, there is a guy waiting to escort you to your site.  He parks you perfectly.  Those tree branches?  Just call the guy back and he will trim them up very nicely for you.

There's a heated pool and hot tub, along with lots of amenities, not to mention cheerful and helpful staff.  I love it here.  I'm not so sure how I'm going to fare at the Baptist Church RV Park I'm supposed to stay at tonight.
